      First of all, thanks for watching and commenting on the video. Starting at 8:34, I show having to remove the plastic piece on top of the cylinder, using some plastic ties to hold the cylinder just right, and using a ratchet box end wrench to get the back brake line installed to get it in. It definitely was a challenge and I commend you for attempting this. I was definitely not the easiest job I have done. Good luck....😀

    Cleaned the carb … it’s like the float is getting stuck and flooding , because I had to cut the gas valve on and off to keep it running today … I have a 93 game fisher 3.0 … it’s giving me trouble

      First off, thanks for watching my videos and commenting. Is the float sticking or is it that the inlet needle is not sealing on the seat? As you recall from the video, i had to modify the seat to get a bigger needle to fit because I couldn't find one to fit. You may also want to be sure the float floats....Good Luck....😄

      Thanks for watching and commenting on my videos. Yes, you are correct. I believe that all of the P71 Crown Vics around here are high mileage vehicles. If they wind up in the junkyard, if they have good axles on them, they are usually gone right away. These are very popular around here due to their limited slip diffs....😏😀

    I did a drain and fill on an old XC90 and it went well until the end. I torqued the pan bolts too tight and broke a few off! That was an expensive mistake!

  • @universalassociates6857
    @universalassociates6857 2 місяці тому

    I found one of the pan bolts is situated in a way that you can't get directly under it with a socket. So if you are going to pull the pan, have a tool where you get at it - a flexible extender for example. You don't want to drain the oil and then have to run to the parts store to get that one bolt off!

  • @universalassociates6857
    @universalassociates6857 2 місяці тому

    FCP Euro was selling a replacement transmission oil pan with an oil drain plug made by Dorman, but the last time I checked, it was out of stock. Although you still want to probably remove the oil pan to clean it up and change the filter, it could reduce the mess when draining the oil. I did a drain and fill on a windy day. What a mess I made!

    • @easysimplemechanic8534
      @easysimplemechanic8534 2 місяці тому

      @@DJR5280 I would start by pulling the starter and bench testing it. If it tests good. I have had an 02 Ranger that felt like the engine was locked up but it turned out to be a bad transmission that had a stuck front pump on it. If the starter has the same issue than the one on the video, the solenoid/starter at the junkyard is cheap enough. Thanks again....😀

      Sorry, I can't make any videos on this generator specific generator. It was returned to its owner and he has since sold it for a big profit but if you can picture this, there are only two wires that go to the starter. This is true for most starters. One is a direct cable from the battery and the other is a smaller wire that goes to the starter solenoid that sits on top of the starter. The small wire will come from start switch, whether it is a regular switch like the start switch on the front panel on this unit, or from the ignition switch if it is on a vehicle. I hope this helps.....😀

    i have subscribed & thank you for posting this video, as a person who has been dealing with problem after problem since December 2022 on the first ever Volvo (XC90 2.9 T6 TwinTurbo) i have ever purchased you have given me more hope that i might indeed fix all it's issues. The Previous seller put aviation tape over the "check engine" light. i have had to change the Breather system, the water pump, timing belt, ALL fluids (and i do mean all) replace the air con radiator and Gearbox coolant hoses, drop the sump and clear the clogged up oil passages, replace both front wheel bearing and all four tyres. The seller definately saw me coming! But now it is just the gearbox to sort. Zero fault codes ocassionally the XC drives faultlessly BUT more often than not it just revs loudly in drive when accelerating seemingly without changing up gears for what feels like ages. I just did that Stall speed test you did and had stall speeds on reverse of 2800, on drive of 2600 & 2800 on 3rd of 1900 on 2nd of 1800 on 1st of 1800. All over the place! i do have a slight weep of transmission oil (if i park uphill) from where the dipstick pipe joins the body too so i am wondering if "air" is being sucked in and out affecting pressure, i will replace the seals on the dipstick pipe and see if that helps but if not i might try your fix too! (this will be my 3rd time dropping the pan!) I really appreciate your video. Is the kit for the 2005/2006 XC90 4t65e the same as the one you ordered ?? again many thanks Derek Anthony Farmer

From watching you video, could you break the shaft loose then just remove the 4 bolts holding the bell housing to the motor instead of separating it from the generator first. Seems like you would have to remove less stuff. Am I missing something?

Just a couple more steps made it easy to remove instead of messing with the bell housing bolts from outside of the cage. I hope this helps.....😊

      @@easysimplemechanic8534 Thanks for the reply. Started on it today. Have to build a wrench to hold the front of the crank. Want to break that free before going forward.

      @@Lspe7 If you don't have a tool, you can also take a spark plug out and fill the cylinder with some small rope to hold the crank from turning. This only works if the piston or rod is not broken...In my case, the rod was broken on one cylinder and I didn't want to hurt the other one by only using one piston to hold the crank from turning. I hope this helps.....😀

      @@easysimplemechanic8534 I was able to break loose the shaft today. After looking at things I have to agree your method is better than just attacking the bell housing bolts. They could be removed with a ratchet wrench but would take all day. Thanks again for the video it has been very helpful.

      Thanks for watching my videos. The engine cost me $200. The trip to get it cost me about another $200 in gas and expenses. The miscellaneous parts and oil were about $80. The total was about $480. It turned out great compared to a used generator engine, if you can find one, for anywhere from $1200 to $2000 or more. 😄

    Just finished restoring a tiller of the same vintage, maybe a bit older. Mine is a '71. Three lessons learned: 1. Removing and replacing the lower carb bolt is hard to do using a wrench. I found it much easier and faster to use a small slot head screwdriver. You jam it sideways into the slots cut into the bolt head. This let's you turn the bolt about 90 degrees (4 slots) per slot. This worked great. Some smart Briggs Engineer put those slots in these bolts for this purpose. 2. Cleaning out the fuel tank: My tank was badly gunked up with old dry fuel and lots of corrosion from alcohol laden fuel. The water separates from the gasoline overtime. I rinsed the tank out with clean gasoline to start. I threw a handful of nuts and heavy screws in to agitate the fuel and scrape off the junk. This worked great and exposed the rust. I then mixed up a 15% by weight citric acid solution. You can buy citric acid powder on Amazon and at many grocery stores. I filled the tank up a bit past the level where the rust ended and again threw a handful of 3/8 & 1/4" nuts and heavy screws (the sharp edges will clean out the rust pits). I let the solution work for an hour or two and agitated the tank to get the nuts and bolts the help clean things up. This took 3 sessions to get the tank to be rust free. I washed out the tank with Pine Sol, rinsed with very hot water and then fogged the tank interior with wd40. It turned out great. 3. It's really not worth rebuilding these carbs. The alcohol and water corroded them internally. You can buy a brand new carb for $30 on Amazon. They work great.

      Thanks for watching my video. All good points. I thought I would get it running with its original carb because I don't use it very often. I have used the nuts, washers and screws on motorcycle gas tanks before. It works great...
