This November our friend Thomas invited Bartek and me to the celebration of his 50th birthday.
His birthday wish was us to perform Brothers in Arms from Dire Straits, which was a pleasure for us to fulfill.
Now this song, although almost 40 years old, does not only shine due to its simple beauty and emotional depth. Its message, sadly, is still relevant and, unfortunately, will always be.
As the arrangement of the studio track is perfect, we believe any amendment to it will be inferior.
That’s why we tried to play as near to the original as possible, though we know we cannot fully match it, but at least we tried.
Bartek and myself want to thank charming and talented Consti Basshoernchen on bass guitar and not less talented Christoph Karas on drums for their excellent performance. Believe me or not, the four of us had no opportunity to rehearse the song before the performance. (I hope this is not too obvious, while listening)
