Top Water Barra Bites
Its been a while but I'm back do the longer format videos again, that being said, this trip showed I'm out of practice. A few finger troubles and a Go Pro that wasn't quite working right made it rather challenging to get the footage. These 50-70cm Barra sure put on a show when they want too and when hitting top water make it just that much better. cheers for tuning back into another episode of OCA. @OutCastAngler

Awesome work mate !!!
thanks mate, hope you've been finding a few lately
@ haven’t been back up there and no doubt plenty gone over the wall again unfortunately. I’ll get back up there in the new year.
B-lord killing it.
cheers legends.
Nice work mate 🤙
Awesome Vid Legend👊thought i had already sub ,never to late i guess 😉👍
lol never too late, cheers for the comment mate. hope the fishing has been good for you
Nice catch mate 🎉
cheers mate, I was stoked
Can you make a video of your tackle storage? Curious to how many boxes I can carry with a live scope setup
Hey mate cheers for the comment. Unfortunately I have moved the lynk on since making the video. With my AT set up on the kayak I was able to run the same two boxes under the seat and also utilised a Hobie seat bag on the back of the seat for a little more storage area. my battery and AT module were fitted in the the Hobie Crate itself. Hope this helps
@@OutCastAngler what are you using now? I think I’m going to bypass the Lynx and hold out for a PA
@@MrBthames2000 Hey mate, Ive actually got a PA 12 360 and a PA 14 360. Both are a fantastic and have the ability to carry way more gear than I need. Im planning to do some camping from the kayak over a few days, so the extra room will be handy. I did a 12 month review on my PA 12 which may give you some ideas ua-cam.com/video/sJDg83MAvsc/v-deo.html. 🤘
Awesome video thanks. Can I ask where you camped?
Cheers mate, I camped in the Bush camping sites within Reflections holiday park.
Brings back good memories mate. Smacking a few Tuna
Thats awesome, there is nothing quite like a good tuna run.
hay mate where about is this? Morton bay?
yes mate, hope the fishing been gpopd for you
@@OutCastAngler yeh it sure has been getting a good amount of fish of the flats in the e kayak got my PB bream it was 42cm
@@A.CFishingextreme Thats awesome, 42cm is a cracking bream. Nice work.
@@OutCastAngler yeh sure is
What did you do with the yellow wire on the lowrance power cable?
Morning mate, I don't recall there being a yellow wire, if the was I would have capped and stowed it and not used and only used the red and black.
Who made the transducer mount for the bottom
Hey mate can I confirm if you're referring to the 3-1 transducer? If so, I used the one provided with the kayak. from Hobie.
Hard work for some nice Barra. Well done. 😎
100 % a lot of hours put in but got the bite eventually. cheers for the kudos
Can I ask what landing net you use , great vid .
cheers mate, for the the net is a skull drag omega net. There website is here skulldragindustries.com
Nice work, Bozz. I swear, every time you cast a line, you find the fish... Great clips and nice releases. As always, nice work and wet lines.
LOL not every time, cheers bro catch you for a flick soon.
Nice work. Bream lord takes over WA.
LOL go the bream lords
Is this AT1 mate? Thinking about doing it on my outback i have the fs9 aa well
Spot on mate, it is AT 1 and the picture isn't to bad on the FS units. I've heard of a few people fitting AT to there outback but haven't seen it myself. Hope the install goes well for you.
@@OutCastAngler been wondering how I would do it when I was out the other day. Without it all getting in the way.
@@nugdam8758 totally get it, not sure wether this will help but I have dropped a link in this comment of a AT install I did on a Hobie Lynx, hope the fishing was good ua-cam.com/video/4QoBH8mY_uY/v-deo.html
Very cool Sean, if only that tech was a bit more affordable 😓 Matt 👍🏻
Not wrong Matt it can definitely add up and is definately a nice to have. hope the fishing has been good for you.
@@OutCastAngler pretty quiet on the fishing front, just need a bit more time at the right times! I was saying to my mate Fiona how tech has really altered the course of fishing. I’m all for it, especially seeing the behaviours like how we saw in your screen clips. Gees my first sounder was in 1993 an Eagle Magna View tri beam ha ha
@@Yaknmattkayakfishing In that time technology has come a long way and your spot on, being able to see how the fish behave is a game changer.
Good video on the Hobie. But I actually like the net the most. Would you tell me what brand it is and where to get one?
No issues at all Skulldrag industries makes them. skulldragindustries.com/

Cleaned up mate! looks like a great spot. So much rock. Ive never been cod fishing. Definitely need to tick that box soon. Great vid!
thanks legend, yeah the dam is a stunning place. Glad to hear cod fishing is on your list, they are a cool fish to catch. hope the jacks have been keeping you busy
Great video mate you put in the hard yards and paid of :) Never fished copeton but would luv to some day. Everytime I see videos or pictures of that place just looks so nice!
Cheers, those cod do make your work for them. the pics really don't do the place justice, definately worth a look when you get the chance.
@@OutCastAngler always more satisfying when they make you work for it. I'm curious how do you find fishing with the live active target? heard you mention it. I often thought of getting a sounder more for depth the anything but I think I would spend to much time staring at the screen which I do enough already for work.
LOL i know that feeling, I find active target is awesome once your in a spot looking at how the fish are reacting to your lure and lets you accurately cast your lure. Here a link to a vid i did chasing Yellowbelly wiht active target which might help. ua-cam.com/video/lphFXie3Sso/v-deo.html@@Toobeez1
Nicee that's a great video it's crazy watching them react to the lure. Cheers for sharing :)
AT does show some really cool things the fish get up to. hope the fishing been good for you. cheers @@Toobeez1
Right at my home town mate, I remember pulling yella belly out of there on hand lines as a wee fella.
Thats awesome, I cant remember the last time I used a hand line. Very cool area down that way. Tight lines

Dream kayak! What a weapon. The ability to move sideways like that must make such a difference.. great review man.
Cheers mate, it sure it a weapon and your not wrong the agility. Cheer for the comment and hopefully this fresh water clears soon.
Good to see some more content from you, a bit of care goes along way to not having problems down the track on anything. 👍👍
Cheers for the comment, your 100% correct regarding the care side of things.
Hows your PA12 360 holding up? Any hull or drive issues?
Hey mate your timing is perfect i have actually just finished doing a 12 month review, which will be up on the channel next week. To answer your question no i haven' had any issues. Initially I got the dealer to walk me through the adjustments. Im not the easiest on my gear either.
@@OutCastAngler man, great to hear. Look forward to the vid. Just purchased exact same kayak.
awesome I don't think you will be disappointed. good luck with the adventures i it@@caleb4015
Good times !
cheers lads, alot of hours put in but worth it
That 50 was a beauty man. Can't go past the splashy as far as topwater hard bodies go I reckon. That profile gives you so much confidence on the pause. That hobie looks like a dream to fish out of. Stoked to come across your channel.
thanks mate very much appreciated. I would have to agree, it is hard to put the splashy down. Likewise regard the channel mate, always epic seeing the content you put up on insta. Goodluck on the next session
Looks so good where you fish, great vid. 👍👍
cheers mate, hope the fishing been good for you.
Awesome vid mate , gotta love topwater. pretty jealous as a topwater Jack is on the bucket list need to head north as I am determined to make it happen, great to see you nailing a few and thanks for the tips - cheers !!!!!
cheer for the comment mate, very much appreciated. Up until last year the were a bucket list species for me as well. Very addictive fish to catch.
Get keen
Thats a great way to do a setup on any Kayak. 👍👍
cheers for the comment, it does works well.
Great vid! I'm in north Brisbane, Ive been in Australia for 12 years and never caught a jack! Any river systems you could recommend? Keep up the quality vids, This will be an awesome series!
Cheer for the comment very much appreciated. To answer your question, all the systems have been firing lately from what I have been seeing on socials. I would recommend spending your time in one that you are familiar with and concentrate your efforts on the good looking structure that has bait, especially when the tide is ripping past, personally I don't think you can go past a good rock bar. In the past I have spent a lot of money and time searching for them in unfamiliar system for very little reward.
Awesome video and advice mate, fishing is not always about catching fish but an endless learning curve, might have to look into those nets, look forward to more of the Diaries episodes - cheers !!!!
Cheer for the comment, you spot on regarding the constant learning curve. Finger crossed for an awesome summer jack bite. Screaming Dragz
Nice video, great tips. Skulldrag nets so good for Kayak.
cheers mate, your not wrong on the net, i never leave home without it. hope the fishing been good for you
Great video mate. Really want to get out there and chase ‘em.
I think it will be good summer to chase them this year. cheers for the comment
Great video mate. I’m going to start chasing bream on lures/placcys so this vid is very helpful.
thanks heaps for the feedback. Stoked to hear its helpful. Good luck finesse bream fishing can get very addictive
Do you still own your Hobie 360 or didn’t you like it anymore?
Hey mate, I still have my 360 and its awesome but the Lynx is awesome when I'm keen quick easy session on the water.
Unbelievable that we have to pay EXTRA for the complete deck pad.
LOL true, it would be nice to see them come out standard with a full deck pad.
Mate that was awesome to see. Great set up to use and remove.
Thanks for the comment legend, it is a fun easy set up that for sure. hope the fishing has been good.
Good clip bud, keep up the good work!
Thanks will do.
I have the same exact kayak. I like all of the decals that you have especially the shark decal at the front. May I ask where I can get one?
Hey mate, they are a cool yak that for sure. The stickers are the Ike ones found on the PA 14. I got mine through my Hobie dealer Sunstate Watersports. your local dealer should be able to help I'm sure.
@@OutCastAngleroh okay. I will check my local dealer hopefully they can put one on for me. Thanks for your time. Cheers!
Thanks mate! Super helpful video to help me get my new kit installed! Kevin, CT USA
cheers mate, glad you found it helpful, thats what its all about. Good luck wiht the install
Liked and Subscibed , I have been toying with the idea of using the frogs on the surface at night for flatties, good to know they work - glad I found your channel ,cheers !!!!
cheers mate, very much appreciated. Now that is a very interesting idea. I have no doubt they would work and often thought about chasing them on those dead still nights. let me know how you go
Nice overview mate. I’ve had mine for just over a year and love it. Just a question on how you mounted your transducer. I assume you use side scan?? Did you use the mount underneath or do you have an arm o the side? Cheers
Nice, they are a nice yak on the water. I do use side scan and basically drilled off the Hobie bracket to suit the transducer and screwed it straight to the mount. Seems to work fine for me.
Please man, attach a leash to the mirage drive. This is the most expensive part of this yak and losing it sucks big time. Very neat set up
cheers for the comment, your right it wouldn't be a cheap exercise to replace. @@tonyg3091

cheer for the comment mate, it wasn't that long ago I was a first time kayaker. Kayak fishing is super addictive. Good Luck on your sessions
Thanks for this mate. I thought there was more to the Active Target than that. Given me some food for thought. 👍
cheers for the comment mate, glad to hear got the ideas going
