Dogs Playing Rough - Should I Intervene or No?
നീ കഴിവുള്ള ടാവുതന്നെ
We are fostering a tiny chiweenie from the shelter. She has fear aggression, but we see alot of potential for this little girl. Trying to get her adoption ready in the right home! 🥰
If you can, you should find the whole video to watch. It's a really good example of working with a shy/insecure dog. I have one and it's something I show people who talk about balance vs force free. I really enjoy Tyler's content :)
🙏🙏
This is what I needed for our australian shepherd that we adopted months ago. He thinks I am his sheep so when I try to leave he tries to bite me. I will try your advice. Thanks.
This is great training.
Sooo informative!
Just adopted a 1yr old lab/poodle mix from a happy home but she was with a litter mate and not socialised in the world outside of her family. She is so shy with people and barks and growls at my partner. He was so excited that I was getting a dog and then he was devastated. I really hope she’ll come round! 😭
It took my foster dog who was fear aggressive with my husband 3 weeks to come around. Now she is his best friend. He just kinda ignored her then started giving her lots of treats 🤗
Do you find bent paw, here and in general, as a sign of a dog being unsure/insecure?
well so far i feel quite informed yet embarrassed. I have had duke since he was 5 weeks old and he sleep together i take him with me everywhere and walk him . he has come in every form of my personal space. and i never thought it to be unhealthy. i just love him. i spend more time with him than my husband. he has bit my husband and tried my daughter and my son who ever comes near me or my bedroom. i just put him in his crate and wont let him in my room or by me. now i am sad and i know he is. i am trying to learn what to change
gotta fix those audio levels. hard to hear.
I have a reactive miniature poodle dog. He is 3 years old and not neutered. He is very smart and adaptable. However, when guests come to the house, he barks a lot, or when someone leaves the room, he jumps on them, sticks to their clothes, and tries to stop them. He only does this when I am in the room. Besides, he does not act like this towards other people or dogs on the street. I have done a lot of reading and watched videos. What most of them suggest seems to be punishment-focused, correcting with a leash seemed a bit logical, but it didn't work for us, he became even more stressed. I try to attract his attention with a reward as soon as he does this behavior, but he doesn't focus on me. Normally, he always looks into my eyes. How can I solve this problem?.
So we got a rescue that was a bait dog in a dog fighting ring and he's very sweet to me. Is afraid of men some. So he's always been "my dog". He is great with commands during "training time" and behaves better and better around my husband. Little kids are a different story. My nephew's little boy comes over for weekends and we have to keep the gated away from each other. Bravo knows his place and minds very well but after he goes home, Bravo tends to act out and growl at my husband for no reason and guard me. I think I am a dog mommy more than the leader I need to be. Must learn this. TY for putting it in terms I totally understood.
How do I get my dog to not bite? She was very abused as a puppy until I rescued her
So my dog is 34 pounds and he’s very very hyper and over aroused and his food driver is off the wall. He does eat raw diet and I have tried going one day without feeding him and he gets bile tummy really bad so do you think I should try again or just let it be?
If his food drive is already fantastic, and you know your dog doesn't handle it well, I wouldn't mess with it. Especially if you're not feeding kibble.
Oh thank you. I thought that also he’s really active and over stimulated and his metabolism off-the-wall and he’s skinny but he is a big hound.
Hi Tim, how would you handle 2 male wolf dogs that resource guard their owner. They end up fighting with each other every time the owner goes in the yard with them.
Why would you want a dog without prey drive?
Struggling with this w our new gsd puppy guarding our 3 year old daughter.
The head in the lap, now I’m crying
Wow wonderful video. All the videos on your channel are fantastic. But your video views are lower. Because your optimization is very poor. Your optimization needs to improve as soon as possible. This video SEO score is 0% Md Shariar
UA-cam channel video has a bad SEO score of Due to this your subscribers and views are not increasing, and the titles, descriptions, and keywords SEO should be done correctly only then you will get good results. the same problem in Video every. Md Shariar
So true.
Beautiful thank you
All good, on the other hand...(not for this dog who is showing discomfort) sometimes a dog is just looking at another dog and handler kind of reprimand their dog but I see them saying/thinking.... wow, look at that handsome or beautiful dog.... kind of how a guy would try to politely look at a pretty girl
I need help with my fear aggressive dog.
man..... this is really good types of discussions to have, learning how to READ dogs is so HUGE, to me , it is the very first thing you should do meeting or seeing a dog the first or few times. With that knowledge, you/we can figure out how to ADDRESS a dog based on what they are telling you....... most reactive type behaviors come from fear, them not knowing and unsure about someone or something........... how to help that is THE BIG QUESTION,.... thankyou
When a dog runs up to and bites
Wow, I really need your advice but I see this video is two years old, I rescued a one year old Shih Tzu very insecure. I keep her on a leash because I have four cats. She is doing excellent with the cats. However, I live in a condo and I made the mistake of letting the dog sleep in the bed, I don’t know if she’s guarding me or the bed, but she constantly barks when the cats come near the bed and which the cats used to sleep in the bed now if I take away the bed and have her start sleeping in the kitchen she will bark excessively and I can’t have that in a condominiumshe does very well if I leave for a few hours but not if she knows I’m home. Any advice would be so terrific. I am really in a bind, and I would really like the cats to sleep in the bed.
Jolie guards high value treats
my mothers dog resource guards my own mother from me and it isnt small she nips me and jumps up at me to keep me away from my mother i cant even hand my mother items i cant have items handed to me. and my mother does nothing to correct the dogs behaviour towards me.
Where are you located
Question my cattle dog naturally has a bob tail. I struggle to read his body language 😅 How do I read the nub signs
boy, was this a wakeup call. I am EXACTLY what he describes - a doormat! Not just for my foster dog, but also other people in my life. This is the BEST video I've seen and really shows that I need to take control of my LIFE, rather than my life controlling me ESPECIALLY the foster dog who definitely (through no fault of her own) is treating me like a doormat and I'm unknowingly ENCOURAGING her to do that. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU TYLER!!!!!! Time to set personal boundaries with her AND other people in my life.
I too share many of these characteristics, (only with the dog I guess) but how to do this effectively?
This is great but with my dog for example the majority of times the problem is just random people that comes from no where that they are afraid of.. for example when we go around a corner or when people come out of a house or a building he seems to be more scared of random unexpected people is very difficult to be prepared in does situations...
Dog Daddy and all his entourage should take notes, this is how is done.... not by forcing but by building up trust and comfort
Eye opening and helpful!
My 7-month-old Siberian Husky/Pit Bull/Doberman mix puppy is still whining in the crate. She's not afraid of it, and sleeps in it just fine. I never go to her while she's whining...but when it gets within an hour or two of when she's supposed to be let out I think she gets anxious or excited. I understand she's young and maybe still needs some maturation for self-control, but it really bothers me. Any ideas? I make sure she has something to chew on. If she starts before I'm supposed to get her, I wait for a good few seconds' break in it before I even start walking towards the crate, but it doesn't seem to be helping much.
Also, the crate is appropriately large for her adult size.
It sounds like you are doing a lot of the right stuff already. Just make sure she is also getting enough exercise and mental stimulation in general and especially prior to being crated so the crate gets associated with rest. Stay consistent and give it time. Also, some dogs can just be more vocal than others especially when they anticipate excitement.
@@ConsiderTheDog All right. Thank you! :)
Great, i think you never want to tramatize a dog.... also, if both want play, i try to always watch the mouth, the mouth shows the intentions because they are making the choice to hurt or not hurt the other dog.... they can and must control the strength of their bite ..... y/n
Tyler! I have a love, hate mind set when a client sends me one of your videos. You don't want a dog to build confidence you want the dog to become balanced.
Overconfidence can certainly become a problem!
@@ConsiderTheDog I'm a behaviorist in LA, Good video. help dog owners understand its them that needs to build confidence so their dog can become balanced.
That is such great advice - that if you feel a bit uncertain about whether to intervene or not - better one time too many than too few. That is great comfort to know, when you (as I) feel that you are still learning.
Thanks for the comment!
Why do you think he’s so thirsty? He ran right to the bowl.
It is possibly a displacement behavior.
I guess it could be but maybe he’s just thirsty or he needs some bloodwork just to make sure his kidneys are good
Yes that certainly is possible. My time with him was very limited so it is hard to say. He had been in his kennel for a few hours prior to coming out so definitely could be that he was just thirsty. The trainers who were working with him daily would have more insight. I was only there to assist with socialization sessions.
@@ConsiderTheDog OK I hear ya I guess it’s the main trainers that would know better, and of course his owners thanks
This is what I call “Advocating for the Dog” I teach this in our dog group. Thank you for showing me I was doing the right thing. Even though I know it works, you just solidified my training techniques.
Glad it was helpful!
!!!!!
Thank you, great tutorial, I think it will save me a few injuries in the future.
Glad it was helpful!
Love my friend and mentor Brad.
Aww what a great guy !
8:18 look at her tail and her demeanor bro, you can't even read a dog , wrong time to try and pet her or put your hand above her head and 5:09 she yielded to you, you don't start pulling the leash then, you let her know good job even a treat would have been perfect then, you're basically confusing the dog. worst trainer i seen by far.
My dog naturally does this. I didn't train her to do it. I think she likes it because she can keep an eye on her humans that way lol. She is such a sweet dog.
I am the weak link I guess. my gsd resource guards me. I have medical issues, and I use him as a support comfort friend. I don't want my husband to be bit. I am the one who trained him. I need help and no one in my area. A vet told me to medicate him!
