The Megalithic Trio 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 | Exploring The Lundin Links Standing Stones |
Welcome to the Lundin Links Standing Stones. A trio of giant megalithic stones in the middle of a golf course. The huge megaliths stand between 14 to 17 feet tall. Crookedly shaped and made of sandstone, the pillars are believed to date back to the Bronze age, around the 2nd millennium BCE. Legend holds that the site was used by the Druids for ancient rituals.
Druidic rituals or not, this ancient site is well worth the visit and highlights once more the question of why and who exactly were the people who erected monoliths such as these silent sentinels that still guard our landscapes.
Join me on another fascinating journey through time.

The Glasgow Necropolis is a Victorian cemetery in Glasgow, Scotland. It is on a low but very prominent hill to the east of Glasgow Cathedral. The Clochoderick Stone is a logan stone (or rocking stone), large stones that are so finely balanced that the application of just a small force causes them to rock. They are found throughout the world. Some are man-made megaliths, but others are natural erratics, often left by glaciers. Logan Stones are known in Scotland sometimes as clach-bràth. They marked locations where Scottish open-air co...

Innis Chonnel Castle in Scotland, also known as Ardchonnel Castle, was one of the earliest Campbell strongholds, certainly from as early as 1308 until the present day. The island and the adjacent shore are now heavily wooded, as they would not have been in the time ...

What makes the Shandwick Stone so fascinating is that it shows new meeting old; new in the form of Christian symbols and 'old' in the form of traditional Pictish pagan symbols. It was carved at a time when the Picts were newly converted to Christianity but their pagan art and traditions remained. Both are shown in the beautifully crafted carvings on the Shandwick Stone. The Shandwick Stone's Ga...

The sad fact is, there is absolutely no way to tie Wallace to that well, or that particular memorial site. All we know is that Wallace was betrayed by Menteith in Rab Rae. We don't know for certain the exact location. What we, today have to remember is, the Georgians, and more so the Victorians romanticised Scottish history to within an inch of its life. That memorial site is no doubt where an old dwelling stood, and from what i've researched, and understand, it was probably the oldest dwelling in place, and so was assumed to be where Wallace slept. In regards the Well, it's obviously a spring, which would've been used by countless folk over the centuries. Did Wallace drink from it? Perhaps, but there's absolutely no way of confirming if he did or not. It is sad that so much of what we learned at school and what we're told of Scottish history, by authorities, such as city, or district councils, is just sheer conjecture, and as i mentioned was the imagination of primarily, the Victorians. I would honestly urge people interested in Scottish history to research and research again, cross-reference everything to try and find some common ground in accounts and reports.

Interesting I never knew of the second stone or stump existed , local folk law has the Galabraes stone being a marker to commenorate the battle of Bowden which is no far from this site. Ravenscrag burial cairn is closer than Carinpapple to the Galabraes stone. A possible Druid temple is just of the main road that goes past Cockleroy hill fort which has cup markings not far from the summit. Just above Williamscraigs holiday homes there is another standing stone. All over the Carinpapple burial mound are laylines, easy detectable with dowsing rods . This is the magical land of the Goddodin most of the important sites in the ancient landscape are visible from this site. The way you went up on the Bathgate side there is a echo not far from the top which I suspect was one of the reason why this was chosen as a ritual site. The ancient people prehaps thinking the ancestors where joining in chanting etc. The Knock is a possible Druid platform which is also visible for Carinpapple. On building the new car park behind the Beecraigs visitor centre archeologists discovered the remains of a wooden posted circle unfortunately they built over it which was a wasted opportunity to recreate this site . Again I enjoyed this programme tremendously. Keep them coming. 🤩👍.

This again was a ancient druid site for worship of the moon before the arrival of St Kentigern. The druid well is next to the Tenants brewery the drygate is where the druid priest cult are said to have carried out their rituals. Again a good programme. 🤩👍

Good video. Very well documented. I was there today. (30th March 24) I noticed the road running along side the site seemed to pass through the stone circle of the southwest cairn. Either that or the road was there 1st and the accient people stratigically placed the stones across the road.. (doubt it) Either way interesting place.

It is also speculated that the Druids were Romans that came here before the Empire. They infiltrated our tribal communities and our ancient Celtic Spirituality and Church. They discovered we had gold and other riches. Soon we were to be Colonized by scum.. The rest is common knowledge sadly enough. The Popery continues right up to the current day much to our detriment. Slainte mhath..

@@sentientscrollexpedition Your accent is not 'in the way'! You're fine as is! People should get used to your accent over time, their ears need to change - not you 🙂👍👏 This native of North Carolina mountains & a US American of Scots-Irish and other origins says people need to become more sophisticated in being able to hear, not have everything handed to them on a silver platter. Time to expand our minds, gain sophisticated ways of taking in what we hear, exercise ourselves... not make everyone else adjust our narrowness! 😅 LOVE YOUR VIDEO!
