Heather Chontos, a native of New York, has traveled to Spain, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Tanzania, France, and Portugal. When asked, she responded that after all this time, others might think she's been searching for something while traveling to all these places. At the age of 15, on the day she regained her sight after a year of loss, she felt she regained her will to 'see.' She wanted to see as...

We bring you the story of a couple, Alice and Chris, living together and creating art in Sweden. They first crossed paths eight years ago at school and now share a cosy home and artistic endeavours with their adorable little dog, Nemo. Spending a significant amount of time together, I asked these two artists how they influence each other and in what ways they admire each other's work and perspe...
"The art world needs to be less complicated. In reality, it's very simple." -Christofer Högman
Переглядів 55 тис.11 місяців тому
Christofer Högman goes on to share more about his perspective on art. He believes that at the end of the day, the key is to create art that brings joy to both the artist and the audience. For him, the simplicity of this idea contrasts with the perceived complexities of the art world. By encouraging people to reconnect with their inner child, he aims to evoke a sense of pure and unburdened creat...
Art Talk | "To make my past beautiful." - Swedish Artist, Alice Herbst
Переглядів 175 тис.Рік тому
I met this beautiful artist, Alice Herbst, in Stockholm, Sweden this winter. She was one of the girls who tried to find herself as a teenager. I am sure we all do, did, and done. She plays and creates many different personas for her painting and recreates the characters by painting on canvas. I also always find it hard to define myself as one person or personality; I embraced her perspective an...

Beautifull use of colours! and free handwriting! , I dont believe the oil-painting or any painting will dissapear,.No, AI is a usefull tool, but we will always stick to the real inspiration that is birthed from the own heart-spirit,. AI is not able to create or over-trow a lifes-journey,..Keep on going strong and playfull,.!
He talked about an artists integrity.. I felt HIS integrity! What a valuable man!
One of the best things I saw on UA-cam today. Thank you.
That made my day, thank you🩵
it really speaks to me how he uses old materials such as shirts or serving trays as surfaces to paint on. it makes me think of artists like Chagall, who used an old tablecloth as canvas in poor times. art is about expression and not about the materials. at the same time i have a different perspective on his view of everyday life as painting subjects; i think its very interesting to see artist's depicitions of ordinary lives. these depictions reflect intimate views of the world and are also historically very interesting. so personally i don't think it necessarily has to do with ego.
Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful perspective! While the artist places great value on using everyday materials to expand the canvas and convey personal stories, I find your view on depicting ordinary life as both personal and historically fascinating really compelling as well. I’m sure the artist would be happy to know that their work resonates with a variety of interpretations and connections like yours! Thank you for watching!
The ending of this video is PRICELESS. I almost clicked away, but glad I didn't. Thank you for making this video, December Crew and thank you, Heather! Rose xo
You are so welcome! Did you like the cookie part at the end of the video? 🥰 I wanted to share that moment with all of you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you💕
@@december.artfilms Yes, the cookie part! they look really yummy 🙂. The credit roll kind of "fooled me", I thought it was the end of the video, but I stayed! Are you folks only filming the artists living in Europe?
No! I’m eager to go anywhere in the world where we’re needed or where there’s a great story to tell, and that’s the plan! Are you an artist, by any chance?🥰
@@december.artfilms Yes, I am a contemporary artist based in Berlin 🙂. I was from Sydney (AU). I may have a solo exhibition next year - talking to my gallerist at the moment. I was curious about what you folks do. From the video, it seems like you are from South Korea (?) I love your beautiful cinematography coupled with story telling ❤
So inspiring ❤
🤍💙💜

Oh, we call that game “Telephone” in North America. I was born in 1972 so there may be new terminology now but it was Telephone when I was a kid. Your work is beautiful

Heather, I was…am so moved by this shared video. Thank you for allowing this momentary glimpse into you and your world…past and present. Your authenticity smacked me in the face…no guile, no posturing. That is an extremely attractive trait in this contrived world. Then, there is also your art which, though I had not been exposed to before, instantly spoke volumes to me with those come-hither colours dancing about without apologies! I am an 83 yr. old poet living out my final days in California. I write like I imagine you paint, free of pre-planned structure…it is so exhilarating as when not knowing the outcome completely keeps you totally present in the exact moment of each breath, each letter pouring forth from a pen with its own agenda…perhaps a pot of paint with its own needy will/direction! Isn’t it fun to be us! May your life be all that you need it to be…blessings
Thank you so much for your heartfelt message. Heather's authenticity and art have touched many, and it's wonderful to hear how deeply it resonated with you. I aimed to capture her genuine spirit and creative process, and I'm thrilled that it moved you. Wishing you all the best and many blessings. 🥰
Beautiful paintings!
Yes they are!!
Come to Malawi, Central Africa, you’ll change your mind my friend.
I just love her attitude and spirit. Her Inner beauty shines brightly. The outer beauty takes a backseat
I'm sincerely impressed-fantastic job!
I love his positivity!
Even if people copy our process they can’t achieve the same results. But is is not a right thing to do. I am an artist too, from Porto, Portugal, and I think most important quality of an artist is being honest, in our work and in our choices, and this appears to other people ‘ s eyes. I loved the Artist, her honesty , her works and her studio!
"Making my past more beautiful." brought me to tears
Yeah, it was incredibly touching during the interview, I got teary-eyed too. 🥲 You really watched the video until the end! It was the last line! Thank you for sticking around till the end!😆
yeahhhhh, "past" ( verkoopt maar een verhaal ), but, she CANT PAINT!!!EITHER!!!!
Agree. Sharing your process isn't cool...Great idea, action person/artist...
min 4:50 is the bst painting.
Excellent interview!!! Insightful hearing a gallery owner's perspective. Thank you for these high quality videos!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled you found the interview insightful. Thank you! 🤍🤍🤍
This is the right work for you - great feature. Best wishes.
Many thanks!
SOoooo well done. Loved it. Thank you.
Beautiful thank you for sharing! ✨🤍✨
I really enjoyed this short and the work of J. Gallagher - his paintings and style remind me of how my head feels during violent migraines. The chemo painting too, i can relate. Watching my daughter go through not 1 but two cycles puts you in dark, helpless places. I look forward to more amazing content from you.
Her art is beautiful, her place is cosy, she is charming, she dress with taste. How ?? And you made a wonderful film portrait of her ! Thanks for this 13min.
Thank you💕 glad to hear that!

This is great! Would love to see more videos like this!!
Thank you! So happy to hear that! 🥰
You shouldn't share your procees, or be forced to share, unless you are finished with it and ready to let it go. Your process is personal and hard fought. And its yours. I love your work and your new home is beautiful!
Thank you for your thoughtful words and understanding of the artistic process. I'm glad you enjoyed the film and appreciate the beauty of the artist's work and new home. It was truly an honour to document their journey, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share their story with others. Your appreciation means a lot, and I'll continue to respect and honour the artist's story in all my future projects🎬🙌
Wish to met you irl ❤
I truly appreciate your kind words! Connecting with fellow art enthusiasts beyond the digital realm is always a pleasure. Let's keep in touch and see if we can make it happen. Looking forward to seeing where our connection takes us!🥰🙌
So much joy❤ thank you
Thank you for enjoying it!🥰🥰🥰
So envious of your thought environment and artwork…..I want to live with my art. It does not rule me ….. it joins me on our journey.
Your words beautifully capture the essence of the artist's journey and her intimate connection with her art. It was truly inspiring to witness and document this relationship in the film. As you describe it, her art is more than just a creation; it's a companion on her journey through life. It was an honour to capture and share their story with the world.🥰
Exactly 💯💯
💕💕
A simple way to be an artist… w/o angst or big story line… just being present. Very involved in her life../
Absolutely, the phrase "anyone can cook" from Ratatouille resonates deeply with me as well. It encapsulates the idea that being an artist can be accessible and straightforward, much like the joy of cooking. Embracing this simplicity can liberate us to express our creativity freely and authentically☺️👩🎨✨
AI has NOTHING to do with real ART which comes ONLY from the unknown to us human beings as a gift,. the expretion on a canvas as painters comes from our soul.....from the mistery of the unknown. (forget the AI !! )
Thank you for sharing! I found It's intriguing to consider how the evolving world and the experimentation of artists can lead to new and expanded outcomes. While the essence of art often feels rooted in the enigmatic depths of the unknown and the expression of our souls, it's also exciting to anticipate the possibilities that arise from pushing boundaries and exploring innovative techniques. Through this continuous exploration, artists may uncover fresh perspectives and create artworks that challenge our perceptions, opening doors to even more profound artistic experiences! Let’s see!⭐️
Abstract art is not art. It takes no skill at all. There is no color theory involved, no shapes, no design, the only thing your doing disgracing the medium your using to make it. I blow glass and do ceramics. That shit is hard. Learning what temp to fire your pottery at, learning how to control molten glass and mold it to your will, and even the act of blowing into the pipes itself is extremely hard. It takes enormous amounts of positive pressure to create the bubble. You just sling paint On a canvas with no real purpose or plan and call it art. The only reason it became popular is because the cia secretely funded it in the 70s and 80s to claim that American art is better than Soviet. Now it’s used to launder money by the wealthy.
Your perspective on abstract art and the skill involved in different artistic mediums is evident. While glass blowing and ceramics undeniably demand considerable skill and technical prowess, it's worth acknowledging that art, including abstract art, encompasses a broad spectrum of styles and techniques. Each form of expression presents its own set of complexities and challenges, and what may appear lacking in skill to one observer could be perceived as a unique and deeply meaningful form of self-expression by another. Moreover, the history and development of art are intricate and multifaceted, and while certain movements may have received support from diverse sources, I think it's important to avoid oversimplifying and dismissing entire genres based solely on their origins.
@@december.artfilms fair enough. I was quite drunk when I made that comment. I do find your art quite interesting mainly because it’s so much different from other abstract art that is just throwing paint at a canvas. I do apologize if I hurt your feelings. It was quite closed minded comment of mine I made on a drunken stooper. I do wish others would take a more unique approach to the form like you do. It reminds me of certain types of collage art where there isn’t really a certain subject your trying to capture more so just making a page look good by overlapping different kinds of paper. I do think that art is more about expression rather than meaning or functionality. It’s just kinda hard to keep that mindset all the time as my personal experiences in the past have made me biased. Tis the trials of maturing and learning. Hoping I have a more open minded and unbiased approach to my beliefs in the future. But it’s all a process of self improvement and growth. Keep doing what makes you happy!
