Who said anything about flying real aircraft? You are comparing apples to potatoes.

So I gave since gotten a good hotas, TrackIR, and I’ve gotten VR working. However and Xbox controller still works brilliantly and I highly recommend it if you don’t have all the fancy stuff! It is very easy and very capable in dcs world, and works very very well!

@@golden_fpv9023 thanks for reply! how do you have your joystick look around so smooth? mine is abit snappy and what are your basic controls or have a keybind list i can follow? or away you can send me the binding especially for the camera it just snaps hard left and right

@@nickzv1555 okay so this is the video I followed when first setting it up, it should help with figuring things out if you need help. It’s how I setup my joystick look. ua-cam.com/video/im8kjnDxOmU/v-deo.htmlsi=PUD8hmngKFmNfODI I believe he has one for the F18 as well which is similar to the viper. Then I found these great templates online, like this one: forum.dcs.world/topic/287247-f-16c-xbox-controller-layout/ and they have them for almost every aircraft, including some mods. I printed them out and bound the buttons accordingly, using the bumpers as modifiers, making adjustments as needed. I also found a blank version so I could use it with other flight sims or create my own layouts and not have to recall from memory. It makes using a controller much easier. To find them, just lookup “DCS controller layout” and you can find them. I think I found a page with a bunch of them at one point. So I would watch the video and learn how to properly set it up, then set one up according to a layout, or make your own layout. Let me know if there is anything else you need help with!

I’m not exactly sure how to answer that question, but I haven’t played dcs in a very long time so I wouldn’t know anymore. Maybe try finding somebody or some video that explains how to do it. Sorry I can’t help.

Just dcs, it’s not bound as a stick it’s bound as a view axis.

I completely disagree, but your opinion is your opinion. It’s just different, and I do enjoy playing with flat screen and a controller.

Because I was running the game through something called shadow. Look up “shadow cloud pc” and you’ll understand

This is DCS World. Unfortunately it is pc only. But it is super fun and very very realistic.

I think that's because most people don't know what "Shadow" is and your video/comments doesn't really help with explaining that. After 5 minute search i'm assuming that you're talking about streaming service - now all makes sense for me. That being said, never ever think about buying orginal IR track, just build one by yourself and use with opentrack (i'm just telling this for future).

Try a ir7 air mouse mounted to a cap, that's how I used to Head Track ish on ps4

IR track is ancient technology… VR is the only way to go.

Yeah, but like I said it won’t work with shadow. I tried many things and it would never work. But I’ve since gotten vr working.

I don’t own any of the modules in this video 😂 I only have a couple. But I honestly find a simple Xbox controller to be fun enough for me. And I’ve since gotten vr working.

@@golden_fpv9023 can you help?I have Ps4 dualshock 4 joystick,so withds4(which shows game that I am using xbox360 joystick) it doesnt work properly,I tried loading profiles but nothing helps...

@@THELEGIONNAIRE15 I’m sorry but I actually do not know how to work PS4 controllers, I only use Xbox and plug it straight into the pc, and only use the game to set up controls.

Alright then pal. Just saying, that wasn’t a helpful comment. Not to mention it’s an older video and I’ve already improved from it. But like, YAWN is much different than “oh it felt a little slow.” But that’s aight. Also I was 16 when I made this. So like, yeah. Anyyyyways, I get what you mean.

I have dealt with plenty of heat so I don’t really care about your opinion, I’m just saying, you’re kinda bashing on a kid trying to get into content creation when you’re not even good enough to do it on your own. It is good to hear you have improved. Actually I had little doubt you wouldn't. We all have our learning curves we need to follow. Yours wasn't actually a curve. More of a slight bend. Your making of the video was done very well like I said. 16 you were? Hmmmm well got yourself a pretty damn good start and you seem to be pretty rational and understanding. Wow, this was my first video I’d ever made like this. I look back on it and yes it was long. But no offense, but look at the likes. More than you’ll ever get mate. Lol jokes jokes, but this was old. No need to express that you dislike it.

Yeah it is definitely hard. Honestly it just takes simple small movements. I (and most I think) have a tendency to yank hard when I am trying to do something, like getting the sight on the target. If you haven’t already, setting some curve to the axis will help a decent bit. But it still is difficult. But in my opinion it’s worth being able to look around easily for a loss in accuracy.

Yeah they’re great, but if you just have a clicky button to look around, you’ll be way better off with a controller.

@@golden_fpv9023 Not if youre smart you dont. Its called Button Combinations and they work very well with DCS. An example would be what i use. WIch is shift=WASD to look arround the cockpit. Its no head tracking but works way better than an xboc controller

@@SuperCheater7 obviously you don’t understand then. I can look anywhere to the very degree at whatever pace I’d like because I have a joystick which doesn’t just measure on/off like a switch. Way more efficient than switches no matter what combinations you use. Almost as good as head tracking, and definitely the best you can get without head tracking or vr.

@@golden_fpv9023 I do actually understand because i tried both when i first started playing DCS. First off ill say, its definitely not ALMOST as good as head tracking. Head tracking takes the game to a whole new level and can not be compared to an xbox controller. Secondly from the footage you show its not as precise as you claim it to be. It seems to just work well enough to be able to play.

@@SuperCheater7 you do realize the video is sped up several time though right? I have tried several ways, and I even play in vr now… never will keys, no matter the combinations and mapping, ever be better than a joystick. I’m honestly shocked that you think wasd can be more accurate than a joystick… and I have used head tracking too and yes an Xbox controller joystick is very close to just as good.

I don’t now, but at the time of making this I used something called Shadow. I tried and tried and couldn’t get head tracking to work at all, with many different head tracking types.

Yeah, and back then they were fighting right with the navy. They were stacking up heavy casualties. People just don’t get it.
