Loved his voice
Absolutely the BEST I love them
After Cher, he married a Macon girl w long black hair just like Cher
He made music at Muscle Shoals, AL....awesome Docuseries on UA-cam...Made Hey Jude w Wilson Picket
IMHO he had the best voice ever. Saw him live in the early 2000s and he sounded as good as ever. Love that guy.
First time i heard one way out i was in hillcrest park talking to a girl who had a hybred wolf and a nice radio.
5:16 - OMG, my heart is blowing up - is that actual Fillmore footage???? How much of that exists? Where do you find it?! I also wonder about CSNY 4 Way Street, if it was captured. And Derek & Dominos In Concert (no Duane, but that album...).
You can't name a better American blues band than the ABB. Phenomenal.
"GOAT"!
Amazes me that such talented people lack the intelligence to avoid hard drugs that destroy
Thank you :)
I hate when they brand them souther rock. Yes they are southern and it’s rock but not southern rock. They’re on a much higher level than all the Molley Hatchet’s.
Whacha got here, Jimmy? That's a guitar, boy!
My wife died last year. Gregg was her favorite. God I miss them both.
If it wasn't for Duane, Gregg would've been a dental surgeon. Thank you Duane, smart man !
RIP Guys... including Dickie
He was a LEGEND.
I want so badly to be 30 or 40 years old again, it’s never going to happen. It’s painful to be 72 and have so many pains and use a walker I hate it.
CBS 👎
Gregg used drugs and consumed alcohol and also cigarettes.
"Well I'm no angel..."
@@richstex4736 Think I'll drink up a little more wine/to ease my worried mind/and walk on down the street/and leave my blues at home
My older brother's friend knew them. I didn't believe him until I met him at a show and he had an all-stage pass. I got a ride on Greg's motorcycle but didn't meet him.
Great musician all around. His book tells the long story of him trying to get sober which he finally did. His songwriting and singing are just superb! And no slouch on organ or guitar! RIP Greg.
I was so jealous of my brother who worked security for the Allman brothers band. I was only 14 at the time...but of all the bands he did security for, it was The Allman brothers band I wanted to see the most. 😊 He said Greg was a nice down to earth guy. I still have a couple of their albums. R.I.P. Greg ! 😊
its the bass that has to complete the phrase, like its on a loop, Dusty was the KING of the one handed loops, he used 3 fingers, each one slightly modulates the next to make it sound as if its out of phase every 3rd beat, he really was master, whether or not he got it from John Bonham on Kashmir well never know now will we, same thing tho.. so much in tops music so many miss, they have that Hendrix type of approach with all that hidden "theory" lololo .. they were good friends so maybe they played off one another who knows? musicians were very open in the day, very open, well most of em, not all, you had your henleys and kiss type bands but most the real good bands were magical for this very reason they shared ideas and techniques, and remained very open to idea's subject, content read a lot about music in general, just cuz you play rock or metal doesn't mean that's all you want to know, there is a lot of general music that applies or may apply if you are open talented and try, Jimi knew this, Dusty knew this why they read so much on music, old music, modern, everything they could get their hands on, uses what you can disregard the rest right.. you can live 100 life times and never know a fraction of all music has to offer, for a young species we've barely touched the tip of the iceberg.. the worst thing one can do is get stuck in a rut, a genre style or fashion..
Cher was over the top to Hollywood hills before q spark to in high to hook up gone failures
Duane was the creator that made the band,
Damn That was well done.
I’ve rode down Hillcrest Avenue so many times to this day. We walked thur Rosehill Cemetery back in October, when we were teens in the 70’s we’d sit on Elizabeth Reeds grave and smoke a dobbie but my best memory is meeting Gregg at a jam session at a home on Rocky Creek Road in Macon!!
Gregg was, is and will FOREVER BE my first hero, giant and ROCK & BLUES GOD. Play me out, Bigboy. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Honestly, Gregg Allman is severely, hell I would go as far as saying criminally, under rated as a lyricist, a vocalist and a musician. Amazing blues voice
Gold. Thank you for the post.
Hearing how Greg found the title to his song, Melissa, reminds me a lot of how Carol Connors found a line to a different song, that was also terribly in need of finishing. And, that had her pouring over it, until she did. At least, that's what it said in an article I read somewhere, several decades ago. What she had so far was, "Come show me your kindness, "In your arms I know..." Somewhere in there is where it ended. Although she wanted to use the first part, it just wasn't working. I want to say that what happened was in a diner, a gas station, or a grocery store. It was a long time ago. Anyway, someone came up to the counter, maybe even pointed at some directions or a map, and said, "I need to find this. Find THIS". When her brain latched onto it, there it was. The rest of the line: "Come show me your kindness In your arms I know I'll find this". I don't know about anyone else, but, I consider it one of the most stirring and romantic stanzas of lyrics I've ever heard. When you hear the music and lyrics together, I think it sets a mood that's very clear. BTW, this comes from a frustrated song writer, who will never hear a piece of my music outside a few garage bands.
Are those slides or hammer on's in the intro?
Happy Thanksgiving
Love Gregg Allman. So sweet and kind. Rip
R.i.p. Greg Allman Brothers badesst of all time
Miss you Greg
My older brother had their albums. I would look at the album jackets and we would talk as the music played. I was 11 my brother 16. My brother died unexpectedly two years ago. Hearing the soulful sound of Gregg’s voice now is gut wrenching and also bittersweet. It takes me back to happy times. When you lose a sibling the pain is always there. When Gregg said they took him into the chapel….I felt that because I also experienced that.
💔
Greg was simply one of the greatest musical artists I've ever encountered. He was pure oneness with music and his creations. Grateful to you
Will always love the Allmans. RIP
Amazing interview God rest his soul love 😍 never dies amen 😇✌️🕊🤟🙏😇
I use to love this show. I'd get mad if I slept late. An hour and a half every Sunday morning. ☕🎸🎹🎵🎶 Even had a girlfriend for a few years that made it part of her routine as well. They've changed. Can't even follow their UA-cam channel. Anyway, back then it was just modern chit chat and art. It was beautiful.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ was the best!!!!!
When I moved to Florida in 2004 from RI…the first concert I went to Allman Brothers/Lynyrd Skynyrd in Tampa..great show…
Last piece of new vinyl I ever bought was I’m no angel then they quit making albums I think a few new bands found the love of vinyl and put out albums and that’s great vinyl should never die just like Greg Allman should have never died none of the really great ones should
A rat
As soulful as music gets. Anthems of my youth. Where does the time go?
My favorite! God Bless all the Allmans members ! Such a loss
Also Greg besides being a fantastic man and artist, he certainly aged well❤
Just damn.
