We met on Prodigy [online] in 1991, met in person in 1992, started dating in 1993, got married in 1995, got divorced in 2012 and we were re-married in 2016. Our story is inspirational and a testimony to God and how he transforms people.
This channel is also about making dreams happen. As a Los Angeles couple keeping up with the Joneses, we were in debt and had no money set aside for retirement. Then we took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University class - and followed it with "Gazelle Intensity" - from becoming debt free all the way to now being mortgage free too. Now we are working on building our nest egg.
With the crazy real estate market in the Austin, Texas area we were able to cash out and buy our new home in The Villages, Florida. Though we are still working, we are working our way to retirement.
In early 2023 we bought an RV [2020 BT Cruiser 5240] to help us with our wanderlust.

Gravesite of Bo Diddley in Florida?
Bo Diddley was born in McComb, Mississippi, as Ellas Otha Bates on 12/30/1928. We wondered why he was buried in Florida and found: Bo Diddley died on June 2, 2008, of heart failure at his home in Archer, Florida at the age of 79. Archer is only 10 miles from his grave.

What church have y’all found to attend?? We’re so excited to try a few…we’re snowflakes so this is hard as we’re in and out but trying to be here more than not.
We've made the rounds of churches trying to find a good fit. We've been going to Church at the Springs for the past 1.5 years - it's multi-generational, right now they are meeting in the Ezell Rec Center until their building is built in Middleton, and we can get there by golf cart. Before that we went to Live Oaks Community Church. It was started to cater to the retirement community. Although we liked it we really want multi-generational.

You say you can find nothing bad???? What do you call extremely high traffic, no good restaurants other than Nancy Lopez and train noise at night????? That soinds like alot of bad things to me😢
It depends on where you are coming from. The traffic Karen was talking about was nothing in comparison the nightmare traffic in LA and Austin - Karen just wasn't expecting that traffic - it was a surprise. After almost three years here, the train sounds still don't bother us at all. There are some better restaurants here now, but eating out is not WHY we came here. All of those things are minor in comparison the amazing lifestyle we have now in The Villages. We made the right decision for US.
Been through the villages and stopped at Publix for a few items. Rude old white folks all day long. I'm white, so I can say that. Naples Florida is the same. Old nasty white folks with money.
Thank you for the tour! Beautiful home! We have had one lifestyle visit already and are now planning to rent for two weeks in October. We're really trying to figure out which type of home we'd eventually like to buy (in probably less than two years). We like the Brownwood square area the best so far! Thanks again for your videos! 😊

We went to a working farm with our dog in Randolph, KS literally in the middle of nowhere. 30 minutes on gravel roads to the house off the main highway, thousands of acres of farm fields around the house where we were staying. Storm looming, lightning flashing in distance. No internet to be had, thought we wrote everything down, no entry code to punch in on door access thingee. Went back in mud room for a 2nd try and turned the door knob just because what else could we do at 3 am, the door opened and we were in, no spending the first night in the truck. Turns out there was no code needed, the host hasn't locked her doors or the guest house doors since she moved there 10 years ago😀 oh to live like that everywhere. We came and went never a need for keys lol talk about freeing. We already reserved it again 😊 Thanks for the great video yet again. 👍

Did you bring your dogs on the lifestyle visit. We are thinking of bringing our dog because we will be driving from IL and we’ve never left her for more than 3 days at a time. We are coming for our visit for a week in September. What are your thoughts on bringing a dog??
We bought an RV so we wouldn't have to leave the boys behind, but that being said..... It will be very hot here for your doggies. You will want to be out and about having fun, learning about TV and looking for a home. Those doggos will be in your way and prevent you from getting the most of your visit. We know, not the answer you wanted. Sorry.

Of course! We went back to Texas for our youngest daughter's wedding.
What area do you recommend for single older seniors?
We moved to a new neighborhood and everyone was looking to make friends at the same time. It made it really easy on us. We'd highly recommend that. We don't feel that being single or older would have any negative impact on you in that regard. Then you could join the various "Singles Groups" for their events. And then there's groups like "The Southern Villages Fun Girls" that's made up of all kinds of women looking for connections. Get yourself a big calendar. You're gonna be busy!
Sorry about the loss of your mother and the illness of your children. That is so difficult! I have lost a lot of family and it takes time and slowing down to absorb all of that. At 65 and single living in Florida, I am looking for a 55 community. Like the idea of moving into a brand new community. Thank you for your authenticity and sharing. ❤
