Ford Mustang Mach E Rally Preview & Interview with Chief Engineer
Awesome interview. I'm about 3 days away from purchasing an Outset. I love how Ryvid is so approachable and transparent and how their CEO is so creative while also being an engineer at the same time. I chose Ryvid over ICE bikes because of the overall convenience of EVs, and I'm relatively certain that battery technology is going to take a huge leap in the next 1-2 years. That being said, the Ryvid will be perfect for my 25-mile round trip commute to work on rural roadways and the occasional longer trip. I know Ryvid is targeting the urban rider, but this rural rider is excited to ride on this fantastic product. Nice interview.
I'm super happy that you appreciate this interview. We think Mr Tran is inspiring! Did you see our Anthem full review?? When you buy your Ryvid, I hope you'll consider using our referral link: ryvid.missgoelectric.com and coupon code MISSGOELECTRIC -Producer Tim
Now to make this for the poor and homeless. Venice portables, and Boxables tiny houses And Capsul units are Homeless, Solutions !!! 🏡🏠🏘️⛺🏕️⛪💒 Build small trailers yourself to put tiny houses on. It's doable!!! Low cost, Mass production assembly line like the Model T Ford. Sold in high numbers make a little money on a large number sold. Use city "sweeps", tax money to purchase them as a personally owned property to keep stuff in and safe place to sleep etc. Off grid solar panels on the roof. Plus: Mini R V bike and boat camper home too is doable!! ❤
Thanks for sharing your ideas. -Producer Tim
We will see how popular EV’s are when the government subsidizes go away.
Will you also remove the subsidies for internal combustion automobiles, oil, and gas? Those subsidies are nearly 10x larger. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricIndustry what you do not understand is that without the subsidizes on EV’s their sales would be worse than they are now and they are only 10% now. Good luck with your electric car. Just don’t park it near your house unless you want your house to go up in flames. Oh, and don’t try to drive it more than a few hundred miles or you’ll be stranded in the middle of no where. And when the battery craps out in 5 years get ready to pay $30k for the replacement. I could go on but you have got more shilling for the green energy grift to get back to. Have fun with your battery powered toys.
You are entirely misinformed on every claim. Corrections: 1) gasoline and combustion vehicles are more heavily subsidized than electric vehicles 2) gasoline powered automobiles are 30x more likely to catch fire and 60x more likely to incinerate occupants 3) electricity is 100x more readily available than gasoline in the United States. An EV can charge on as any outlet from any building or light post. Getting stranded is far more likely in a gasoline powered vehicle. 4) all EV batteries are warrantied by law for at least eight years and 100,000 miles. In 16 states they are warrantied for 10 years and 150,000 miles by law. Today's EV batteries will have a service life of 20-40 years before they are recycled. Today's EVs will go 300,000-400,000 miles before being decommissioned. That is twice the service life of a typical combustion posted passenger vehicle. 5)The cost of a replacement battery for a 10 year old out-of-warranty Nissan LEAF EV is about $5,000...not $30,000 as you've claimed. Those prices drop every year. If you want to become educated, we've published hundreds of videos to help. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricIndustry so how does your magic electric car save the planet exactly? Battery components are mined using slave child labor in poor African countries. Every time you charge the magic battery you are using electricity generated from at least 80% fossil fuels. Nuclear energy is actually the greenest, cleanest and safest but shills like you from the green energy grift can’t make any money with it. Again have fun living in your liberal fantasy land.
Who is taking about saving the planet? We aren't. We never have one time in hundreds of videos. This is not an environmental channel. We are talking about technological superiority. We are talking about a higher standard of living. We are talking about domestic energy and economic sovereignty. -Producer Tim (not liberal)
It’s a shame what the left has done to the auto industry. I’ll keep my 30 yo gas powered Jeep thank you very much.
Advanced technology doesn't belong to any political party. Those who want the most power, speed, and reliability go electric. Those who want to pay higher operational costs, support foreign oil, deal with regular maintenance, and drive a vehicle with a shorter lifespan can choose 150 year old internal combustion technology instead. Politics has nothing to do with consumer choice. Capitalism, like nature itself, rewards wise and informed decision making. -Producer Tim
@ when it is subsidized with my tax dollars by one political party (the left) it is political. Grow up.
You'd be surprised to learn that your oil/gas provider and your combustion automobile manufacturer receive much more tax dollars subsidization than any EV company. Your old Jeep runs on TRILLIONS of tax dollars. Producer Tim (fully grown) www.imf.org/en/Topics/climate-change/energy-subsidies www.reuters.com/article/business/factbox-us-states-woo-automakers-with-17-billion-in-subsidies-since-1976-idUSKBN1AK2BI/ en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_the_2008%E2%80%932010_automotive_industry_crisis_on_the_United_States
Well thats a huge disappointment. Bad for the environment and the diy mechanic. Plus, terrible for trails/offroading
Opposite day! -Producer Tim
No actual hardcore off-roader would take an electric vehicle where we take ours. This will be good for around town, to the mall and grocery store……
Cool idea! The problem I see is the fifth wheel directly over the rear axle. Needs more weight on the front wheel . There's a good reason why 3 wheel atvs are not made anymore. Wouldn't be any fun if you lost your steering while trying to turn.
Miss GoElectric reported that the dynamics of the ride were very solid even around tight turns at high speeds. As Zach and his team gather information from pilot programs, they'll surely learn about shortcomings quickly and address them with appropriate engineering solutions. Thanks for watching this video and taking the time to share your perspective. -Producer Tim
Great machine for its low speed used case and I enjoyed the interviewing technique and sensible questions thanks
Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback. -Producer Tim
Do they have a veteran last mile courier to offer advice and guidance?
Their pilot programs do just that. Thanks for watching! -Producer Tim
Scouts and 1st generation Broncos are two of my all-time favorite vehicles. I love what the relaunched Scout has done. My only concern is timing. They really need to get these vehicles on the road ahead of 2027! At around $50K with incentives, I'd definitely buy one. I've been involved with Edison Motors in building the world's first extended range EV semi-truck (heavy-duty vocational truck, not over-the-road like Tesla Semi, etc.). Edison's platform consists of a pure electric drivetrain with e-axles powered by batteries that are charged on the go via a 9L diesel turning a generator. This is similar to Scout's Harvester range extender. It makes all the sense in the world when public DC fast charging infrastructure isn't convenient, such as when going off-road. I read in response that this was one of your more challenging videos to produce. You did a wonderful job. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for sharing your perspective and encouragement. We hope you'll subscribe to this channel and our main channel for much more coverage of electric transportation. -Producer Tim Main Channel: ua-cam.com/users/missgoelectric

Neat stuff! Thanks for watching. -Producer Tim
Wait, Steve Jobs is building trikes now?
It is a privilege for us to meet and interview many of the visionaries involved with the electrification of transportation. Zach has more in common with Steve Jobs than a black turtleneck :) Thanks for joining us! -Producer Tim
these will cost more than a slightly used compact car, but last barely a 3rd of the miles
What is your source for the claim that this will not last as long as a conventional delivery vehicle? The vehicle has very few parts compared to a conventional automobile. All SemiTrike components are inexpensive and readily available. Repairs are easy which reduces labor costs. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricIndustry interesting you didn't dispute the cost only the reliability. If you can show me one of these with 100,000 miles on it without a major repair cost like a motor or drive battery then I'll admit i'm wrong.
@@MrPerry61 You're missing the point. It's not for you, or consumer-driven perceptions of vehicle reliability. The labor, time, and logistics savings around airports, college campuses, indoor/outdoor warehouses, inner-city maintenance services, etc. dwarf the cost of the vehicle itself. Even if a used Toyota Corolla was half the price and double the mileage lifespan, could a conventional car or truck squeeze into these delivery gray areas? There are lots of ways a traditional ICE 4+-wheeled vehicle may be better. But there are a lot of niches where this semi-truck could provide massive time and logistical savings.
@@timothyflavin7780 I believe I made my point. I'm sorry you don't agree and someones differing opinion triggered you, but that's reality. My point is this will cost more than a compact car and the car will last longer.
@@MrPerry61 wasn't necessarily "agree" or "disagree," I was just clarifying another side of the economics you seem to be missing. The cost and lifespan of the vehicle is nearly irrelevant compared to potential logistics/labor savings.
I love it In a civil society, but your one bud light fueled dreamer/new comer in a 10000 lb 20 year old Chevy Tahoe away from squashed. , of course the same result could come from a stoned blue hair in a Prius I suppose too.
Protected bike lanes and sidewalks are the ideal pathways for SemiTrike. -Producer Tim
Tbh I could see use out where I live even though we have terrible bike support here. The niche for me is high visibility low traffic roads. Private roads like in industrial parks could use it too.
it's unusable in Europe. it's too long, too wide, and under powered, and too badly designed for hills
In this video, it climbs a steep grade effortlessly. When you ride one, you'll understand. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricIndustry HI Tim. that is 1% of the gradient f the average hill in wales UK, unloaded and when it was stood vertically, was higher than most ceiling in companies the UK. it also will not pass through pedestrianisation measure in most cities of the UK. Just another American thinking everywhere is America.
@@jaynedavies2757 my wife and I have cycled over 5000 km on a similar sized foreperson recumbent with less manoeuvrability and it works just fine it's all about not expecting motor vehicle high-speed travel cheers
Fascinating report. Nice to see Zach finally put down his orange multimeter during the interview. This trike is much too wide for bicycle lanes so it must drive with traffic. Therefore, I expect it has all the same signaling equipment as a truck. It probably needs a registration plate too.
It will not require registration or insurance because it meets requirements as an eBike everywhere except NYC. In this video Miss GoElectric drives it inside a bicycle lane and on the sidewalk. It fits. Thanks for commenting! -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricIndustry While I love the concept, living in downtown Boston I feel this delivery vehicle should be banned here like NYC. Our bike lanes and sidewalks are much too narrow.
It will be a true mark of success by Civilized Cycles when the SemiTrike becomes sufficiently ubiquitous to warrant regulation. -Producer Tim
Neat and interesting stuff. A tricycle with a trailer for ballast and cargo. The "scooter tender" looks like a neat "use case". Baaaaston might be a good taaghet maahket, tiny roads, no parking anywhere. The best fun is at the end, where Miss Go is having a blast tooling around with only her thumb and Producer Tim is chasing around after a 'cycle, like a juvenile dog😂. All kidding aside, a very good production*, with music even! Pass on to Zach, who seems like a competent, knowledgeable, good guy, : To get investment $$ bucks, zip tie a couple of solar cell panels as a canopy, slap on a couple of "Sustainable Solar" bumper stickers and maybe even some "Gluten Free" happy face stickers too. Good luck; niche markets are real and profitable. * So much fun, I won't even mention the buried collar muffled microphone 😉
We have had the opportunity to interview many leaders in emobility. Zach is a top notch visionary. We did not expect to be able to take the Semi Trike out on the road and it was a lot of fun. Its great to hear that the fun translated into the video. Thanks for watching! -Producer Tim
I learned a lot. Thanks.
This kind of ingenuity is fun to report on. Thank you for tuning in! -Producer Tim
For the number of companies registered, the Manufacturing and Assembly spaces, like Detroit are ghost towns. One person zero-ing a cnc machine with no material on either side of the machine and a clean table and floor. Nothing / very little action is happening here. I get the feeling (Hopefully I am wrong), its just a bunch of hipsters talking on the phone to their Chinese Business Partners about which generic mass produced model they want to slap their new fangled ebike company logo onto. While at the same time, accepting all funding / tax credits that Detroit is offering them.
There are over 100 companies in the Newlab building alone. Those organizations exist in many formats. Of course some will be more innovative than others. We try to focus our attention on the trail blazers like this one: ua-cam.com/video/fVInrMyF_30/v-deo.htmlsi=2ezwrO7fm072n0fy -Producer Tim
Yes, lithium batteries can be recycled, but the recycling rate is currently low: Recycling rate Only about 5% of lithium-ion batteries are recycled globally. Challenges Recycling lithium batteries is difficult and expensive because lithium is reactive and the process is complex. Benefits Recycling lithium batteries can recover valuable materials like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese. It can also reduce the environmental impact of disposal. Process The recycling process involves dismantling, shredding, melting, and dissolving the battery in acid. This results in a black mass that contains the chemical elements and compounds that can be used to make cathodes. Some research is underway to develop more efficient recycling methods, such as using robotics to automate the process. This could help to reduce the risk of injury to workers and improve the purity and value of the recovered materials. Yes, lithium mining can be harmful to the environment: Water: Lithium mining can lead to water shortages, water-related conflicts, and increased salinity of rivers. In the Salar de Atacama, groundwater levels have been depleted by as much as 1 meter per year. Soil: Lithium mining can degrade soil and contaminate it with toxic waste. Air: Lithium mining can contaminate the air. Biodiversity: Lithium mining can lead to biodiversity loss and damage to ecosystem functions. Land: Lithium mining can lead to land degradation and deforestation. Indigenous communities: Lithium mining can displace indigenous peoples and disrupt their practices. Lithium is essential for powering electric vehicles and storing wind and solar power. However, some say that the cost of emissions associated with extracting lithium may not be as efficient as we believe.
Not sure why they are using the Scout brand, these vehicles are not basic or utilitarian by any means, they are not looking to make a new market, so good luck with just more over priced candy! VW great idea, horrible implementation. Redo- make these basic at $20- $25k and USA will buy em up. Otherwise just like the VW Van we have been waiting for, if it ever comes out in USA at a reasonable cost maybe VW can survive, nahhh.
The ID.Buzz is now on roads in the USA. One of our friends is a trainer for VW and he has driven over 1000 miles in a production unit which he is taking around the country training sales teams. Scout is independent of VW. Scout is an American company. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Producer Tim

@ make one a diesel hybrid with a VW TDI engine you could get over 100 mpg and you will have a devout following. Former scout and devout VW TDI owner. Check out edison motors canada
Would a hyper efficient low displacement gasoline generator be less expensive to build and operate compared to diesel? Would gasoline offer more refueling opportunities for buyers around the globe? -Producer Tim
@ would a diesel generator require less environmentally unfriendly batteries and extend the range substantially. People are building hybrids backwards to many batteries. Do locomotives use batteries? No they use diesel engines to power huge generators that power the huge electric motors on the drive wheels. They are an example of rational hybrids not this insane amount of environmentally horrid and cost prohibitive expensive batteries. Hence why i said you should look into what Edison motors are doing with electric hybrids on semi tractors and pickup truck conversion kits. Supposedly Toyota is also working on something similar. You should be working to reduce the number of batteries which is exactly the opposite of what most hybrid manufacturers have done.
My question was not related to battery size. I asked about the advantages of your preference for diesel VS the engineers decision to utilize gasoline. Our stance on this channel is that batteries are recyclable. They enable a circular domestic economy. They can be produced using abundant materials sourced and assembled in the USA. We prefer purely electric propulsion to any which integrates a combustion engine. That said, the energy density of today's batteries is not yet sufficient to replace combustion engines in every category of transportation. Automobiles with combustion engines are more complex. Thusly they are less reliable with shorter lifespans and higher operational costs. Gasoline and diesel dependence weakens the US geopolitically. Oil rigs, pipelines, and tankers leak and spill monthly, causing widespread environmental destruction. Gasoline is at least 10x more likely to cause incineration fatalities compared to automotive batteries. Combustion engines exhaust is a primary cause of cancer and asthma along for those who live or work near roadways. Fuel refinement is wasteful. It's transportation is wasteful. A very small percentage of the energy in a gallon of gasoline is covered to kinetic energy at the wheel. Even electric propulsion powered by the *minority* of our electrical grid which is fossil fuel driven is superior in every category listed above compared to combustion alternatives. -Producer Tim
I absolutely love your coverage of these electrification trade shows. Very insightful and informative and good pics of highlights. I particularly was intrigued and paid very close attention to your interview with the lithium sulfur Zeta battery vendor. I really hope that they are able to bring that technology to mass Market in the US and Europe, it would be perfect if it is robust and can be scaled up competitively. Looks like VW and South Carolina have bet Big $ on this. They have shown a neat design, and thrown in a little PR bait with the gas generator*. Though 2027 may be a bit late, since the rest of the world is not waiting for them to start. After deliveries commence in a couple of years it will be interesting to see if they did a better job matching customers desires than the Ford F150 Lightning, which has now in paused production due to swelling inventory on dealers' lots due to poor sales. If, and when, Ford ever gets its dreamy "Blue Oval City" running, it could easily make a strong competitor with an electric Bronco or Maverick. In any case, good luck to VW, they'll need it. By the 2027, though, they could be building vehicles for their new wholly owned subsidiary, acquired for defaulting on loan payments, Rivian. 🤣 *which is a much more realistic and credible solution than plastering some solar cells on a Tricycle car 🙄.

You know what would have been REALLY impressive? Announcing they'll make an "analog" model. Power door locks, power windows, power mirrors, and analog everything else. Mechanical gauge clusters, mechanical hvac controls, etc etc. Zero other electronic bullshit. My guess it would save at least $10-15k.
You might be surprised to learn that the economics of that might not work out as it seems like they would. That said, every niche will be filled eventually. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricIndustry Yes, I would be surprised that there would be no demand for inexpensive electric cars... Tim, the first company to crack that nut wins the EV race...
Did Rivian fire some designers?
If you look at the original Terra from the 1970s and then you look at the Rivian R1T, it might become apparent that Scout hit the proportions first. Some might say the new Terra is truest to the old Terra. -Producer Tim
Great job on the video! Did you reserve one for yourself? Did they say what cities will have the service centers? Is the tire carrier on the suv standard or an option? Seems like it will be a really competitive vehicle to me. Maybe it will push Rivian and others to move to 800v, too. Cheers to you.
We expect the configurator to open in a year or two. At that time the options and trim package inclusions will be known. No specifics regarding 100+ retail or service locations have not been disclosed. We have a 2024 Rivian R1T and 2024 Cybertruck so our utility vehicle needs are met for a while. We didn't reserve a 2027 Scout. Terra and Traveler would be right up our alley, though. Thanks for your kind compliment about this video. -Producer Tim
Wow that was a fantastic vid on the reveal. My son and I went with the traveler and option extender. He still owns his 1969 and I sold mine, but we both preordered so 2027 cant come fast enough. Thanks for being detailed, and as far as those true scout enthusiasts, I don’t see how you wouldn’t want one. To own a scout again but with the option of different drivetrains, it’s what scout owners love about it. And to get one that you don’t have to rebuild from the ground up because of rust lol. Yup can’t wait to wear that badge again. SCOUT owner .

Electric with a gas generator is the only thing that really makes sense in the US market, and Scout keeping a heritage interior with real buttons instead of all touchscreens is a winner and why I put a deposit down. Can't wait to hear more about it in the coming years.
We are not a fan of the combustion engine on this channel, but we understand why some buyers will choose a range extender. Thank you for sharing your perspective and for watching our video. Wow, you made it like a traditional TV program other than a UA-camr. Great job, one of the most underrated review. However, i believe the gas tank is also in the front if you look closely into the video. Only engine at back

First, kudos for one of the best coverage of an EV automotive product launch I've seen. I think losing Deiss hurt this effort, but that it's turned out the best it could in spite of that. More legacy companies should be spinning off these efforts fast as they can. But instead, most are paring back...losing battles with UAW, dealers, suppliers and oil corporations. Then the EU and US put tariffs on the Chinese who are a decade ahead which only makes them lose more in the end. Scout is a beacon of hope for a path forward for these dying gas automakers.
You fully understand the situation. Excellent insights. Thank you for tuning in and we hope you'll join us on our weekly new show over at the main channel ua-cam.com/users/missgoelectric We'd love to read more of your perspectives in the comments section. -Producer Tim news.missgoelectric.com

hmm... think they will build the Rivia R2/R3 at the Scout plant? maybe on the same line?
Rivian recently invited us into their Plymouth, Michigan facility to have a close look at R2, R3X, and the zonal architecture hardware they've developed. During that meeting they assured us that Georgia is still the plan for Rivian R2 production when the factory Normal, IL is maxed out. We don't think the R3 platform will be a great candidate for body on frame manufacturing at the Scout facility...but we've been wrong before. We'll see if your suspicions are on point. We do think Rivian probably contribute more than only the zonal architecture and behind-the-scenes software. That user interface seemed very much like a re-skin of Rivian's GUI even though it is not IP which is publicly within the purview of the upcoming joint venture with VW. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts Peter! -Producer Tim
Great coverage of the reveal. I really appreciated the in-depth look at the history behind new Scout's corporate structure, the insights on key employees, and the perspective on a potential public offering. Much deeper than most of the videos that I have seen. I also appreciated the coverage of the economic development commitment from the state of SC and VW as well as the details of the deal structure. On a personal note, as a former Scout II owner from my teens and college days, it’s exciting to see the brand return in a way that honors its roots. I've made my own deposit for the 2027 release and it will be my first electric vehicle. Subscribed and liked 🔔👍
We are THRILLED to see that an original Scout owner has found our coverage and appreciates it. Scout Motor's approach and positioning are extraordinary and we were determined to deliver the context we could not find in other videos or articles. Regurgitating press releases is fine and dandy...but for me, the fun part is learning about the motives, limits, and partnerships which don't fit into carefully crafted narratives. We hope this video offered a bit more context and a peek behind the curtains. Thank you for subscribing! Miss Go, Scout is not back.
Derpy: We think Scout is back. 700+ employees of Scout Motors might agree with us. Volkswagen has invested billions to bring Scout back. We suspect they would also agree that Scout is back. The design and engineering teams put in a lot of effort into honoring the original Terra and Traveler while incorporating modern technology. We look forward to seeing the next generation on the roads. Hopefully you'll agree then that Scout is back. Thank you for viewing and commenting. -Producer Tim
Trying to sell another electric grocery getter by using the classic Scout name and reputation. We had a Scout 80 and this is definitely not a Scout, shame they use the Scout name on this rolling electric computer.
Wish they were making something smaller, like the Rivian R3. Huge EV trucks and SUVs are already available … and I would hope that by 2027 we’ll see 500 miles of range w/o a gas powered extender. But maybe it’s just me.
Did you stop watching before we showed the smaller vehicle at 17:27? This video gets better and better as we go deeper into the subject over time. I hope you'll consider watching the whole thing. 500 miles of range is a power psychological unlock for many buyers. For $100k, buyers can buy an EV with that range today. The price will certainly go down as technology advances. Time will tell if three years is enough to make a $55k 500 mile fully electric truck possible. Thank you for watching and commenting! -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricIndustry I saw it, thanks! It’s hard to take that reference seriously; it’s part of “Stage 3”, and the sketch shows only a potentially smaller vehicle under a cover 😂. Call me skeptical, but with the current vehicle lineup not slated for production until 2027, I have my doubts about when we actually see a smaller vehicle. I can’t help thinking the market for a smaller vehicle is much larger, and under served. I’m sure they did the math and decided there are bigger margins (or smaller losses) on large units. While I’d like a more rugged option, I’ll probably just settle for a small Volvo or Kia by then 🤷♂️. Thanks for the excellent event coverage! Cheers.

This was *the* comprehensive overview of the unveiling event I've been looking for, as well as great industry info on what the Scout Motors company has done so far. You are excellent at videos like this! Do you have any thoughts on how the rear motor (from a dual motor setup) will work with a solid rear axle? As far as I know that hasn't been done before.
We greatly appreciate your kind words. This was one of the more tedious productions we've attempted recently and it means a lot to know that the effort has paid off for you. We hope you'll share the link to it online so others can find it. As for the rear axle, we have not been made privy to those technical details yet. We hope this video will be seen by Scout and that it will help us to gain their respect in the form of greater access to technical developments as they get closer to market. It would be a privilege to produce a first look at the factory when they start production. -Producer Tim Another EV truck factory tour (which was actually somewhat impromptu) : ua-cam.com/video/o5tqlXc2qdo/v-deo.html
Ahemmm... You do know this is just grant grab. This company will never make it to production. Another scam to our stupid government
Clearly you DID NOT watch this whole video. For everyone else, this video will illuminate the facts which Emmanuel has not grasped. -Producer Tim.
I would think if you are interested in getting people that like the old Scout you would focus on the simple. Few screens, cloth seating etc.. With all these added features, why not just get a Rivian, unless you want something a bit bigger. The old Scout was obviously made by a tractor manufacturer and that’s what looks to be lacking in this new one. I am probably wrong.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. We hope you find this video informative week beyond the product details. -Producer Tim
I don't think you are wrong at all. But Bollinger tried that and couldn't pull it off! It's a tough world for legacy auto to pivot...and tough for startups to compete with those so far ahead like China, Korea, Rivian and Tesla. But I too think there is a space for minimalist truck like you state.
I had one of those Farmall tractors, except mine was labeled an A. I think it was older than the 140. I rebuild the engine using oversize sleeves to make it Super C power, and added the water pump a Super C had.

Wow, is this the first EV to bring back the old analog needle speedometer? It looks so retro. There’s no need for a nuisance start/stop button so remove it in production units. Adding a gas engine range extender is the wrong approach. The proper way to add range is more batteries like Silverado. The primary reason for buying an EV is to avoid engines that pollute, require service, and visits to a gas station. I know this channel dislikes fossil fuel transportation.
There is no *need* for most buttons, as evidenced by the minimalist design of the Tesla Model Y interior. That said, the audience cheered for buttons at this event. That indicates demand. If a feature generates more revenue than it costs, most executives would say the part is worth offering. The Model Y will probably remain the best selling car in the USA for a very long time and it will probably have the best profit margins. There must be EVs of every permutation in order to supplant internal combustion transportation. We are not fans of a gasoline engine, but we have conducted literally hundreds of thousands of test drives with car buyers in our work supporting EV auto makers. 500 miles is a magic range number for most drivers to consider an EV "worry free". Lucid has shown us that very free buyers are willing to pay $100k for that much range. We think a price of $55k and a range of 500 miles will increase the addressable market well beyond Scout's production capabilities. For now, the only way to meet the range and price target with an electric perfect is by harnessing a lower cost and higher density energy storage solution like gasoline to charge the batteries. By 2027 we think there will be a few companies offering batteries which will get closer to competing on range and cost. By 2030, we presume the manufacturing and operational costs associated with combustion range extenders will no longer be attractive for most applications. Thank you for watching and commenting! -Producer Tim

The extender to reach 500 miles is an answer for today’s range limitations. The RAM REV will debut in a few months, so the concept of on-board generator to extend range will be old hat by 2027. The Silverado EV can exceed 450 miles and R1T 420 miles….today. Battery cost will be lower and range farther in two years. The sweet spot will be 500+ miles on battery alone.
We covered the RAM when it showed last year. We also worked with BMW Iperformance on the US launch of the i3 with the same technology almost a decade ago. Having been at the forefront, we agree that range extenders are a necessary part of the transition. We look forward to a near future in which the cost of incorporating a gasoline generator is higher than the cost of a battery pack which can offer comparable range. Thanks for joining us! -Producer Tim Weekly EV News: News.missgoelectric.com
at the end it allows the consumer the option with what he feels comfortable. but as battery development goes forward this might not be necessary for most of the consumers. but needed or not, some customers might feel comfortable having it.
