Richard Jackson - The Dining Room (2006-07) - contemporary art installation
Saw this installation at the contemporary art museum in Bordeaux (the CAPC) and it took my breath away. I love it - the day-glo colours; the inversion of a classical cliche (the well mannered gathered at the dinner table); and the humour - you can't help but LOL looking at this piece.
"A dining room ... a defecating father, a mother nursing her infant, a pissing dog are engaged in a comic exchange of fluids, liters of different-colored paint pumped through their various orifices onto the surrounding furniture. This architectural and thematic extension of the piece is further enhanced by the design of the family members, which references everything from the ubiquitous smiley-face to Japanese animation and Duane Hansons hyper-realistic sculptures."

You really have to see ths guy in person. I saw him last year in Toronto, and then again earlier in August/2008. The sound vibrations of those instruments are remarkable.
