Being an Essential Employee at Jurassic Park Sucks
You've heard of an essential skeleton crew, now it's time for expendable skeletons. Here's a toast to the ones that Jurassic Park lost. Okay maybe Nedry getting hit in the face with a spitball was the will of Hammond. While Nedry's sabotage set off a chain of events, it was just a matter of time before disaster would strike because so many corners were cut in Jurassic Park. Apparently Muldoon is a jokester in the book but a very jaded serious hunter in the film. Ray Arnold was brave, the first scout to go to the maintenance shed as everyone hid in the bunker. I heard they were gonna film the dispatch scene for Ray but the set got destroyed by a hurricane.

    It's funny, in the book Wu doesn't leave the island, and he ends up getting eviscerated by raptors. And Muldoon survives because he's a bad ass. I don't remember if they bring back extinct plants in the novel or not, but they don't really explain how they managed to that in the movie. I think in the book the implication is they're closer in age. They both have doctorates and are working in the field, so there's no difference in life experience. I think by the time a person has a doctorate, we can presume that they can take care of themselves when it comes to flirting (which is not the case when it comes to a T-Rex or Dilophosaurus or Veliciraptor -- poor Mssrs Gennaro, Nedry, Arnold, and Muldoon).

    • @BrentonsTV
      @BrentonsTV 14 днів тому

      That’s a poor choice of words as those little genius children probably get doctorates before they’re 18. But also everyone knows a doctorate means you can’t be manipulated by someone twice your age. Right? He knew what he was doing when he cast a 23 year old, he meant her to look 23. Not “determine her age by how much time you think getting a doctorate takes.” Anyways, just accept we are inside Spielbergs wet dream.

    • @christopherbowen1836
      @christopherbowen1836 14 днів тому

      I disagree that the audience is meant to think that Dr. Sadler is young. She is repeatedly referred to throughout the film as "Dr Sadler"; she has no problem chiding or correcting Dr Grant; she's absolutely fierce when she first encounters Hammond in the trailer at the dig site. Nothing indicates that the casting was anything other than the actress's schedule worked and Spielberg thought she could pull off the part (which she did). Put another way, the older actresses may have had conflicting schedule and brought an existing repertoire that would have audiences have a more difficult time accepting (for example) that a Dr Sadler played by Susan Sarandon (47 in 1993) as something other than Louise Sawyer from Thelma and Louise (1991) or separating Sigourney Weaver (44 in 1993) from her role in Aliens. If there's another actress you'd propose who would have met your age criteria in 1993, feel free to propose her, but I think the casting was well done and spot on.

Notice people didn’t applaud Leo DiCaprio for his latest trade in. If you wanted a number from me I’d say things get weird over 10 years. Especially during the first half of life. Not that it’s impossible to be happy, but it’s certainly open for questions (or jokes) over 15 years. The crux of my video was to poke fun at how normal it was for such an age gap in storytelling (only in Hollywood btw, not in real life). Today we are a lot more thoughtful of where someone’s brain is developmentally and it’s much quicker to be evident as a plot-hole. It wasn’t on anyone’s radar in 1993 so it stands out more today. Also there’s a phenomenon where kids can’t tell the difference between the ages of adults and it was almost as if Jurassic park took full advantage of that and let the man fantasy rip.

I said Legolas has no character development LIKE Boromir or Gimli, meaning, none of his development is as impactful as Boromir’s or Gimli’s. “...to Isengard” - how is this memorable? It was a meme, that’s it. “...my bow” - this is only memorable because Aragorn and Gimli ALSO say it, and it’s at the most important moment of the film thus far. “This forest..” - this is not memorable as a Legolas line. It adds very little to him or the story. Perhaps it conveys that Legolas has been around a long time. So what? We already know that. Legolas was the best person to say that line. That doesn’t mean that was the best line for Legolas to say. “...stroke fell” - yes, this is one of a few good Legolas’ lines. “...your allegiance” - once again, a line that is best suited to Legolas, but they doesn’t mean it’s a memorable line for Legolas. “...a box?” - this is a good line. One of the few times Legolas’ development is portrayed. “...friends are with you” - I’ve never seen this quoted in all the time I’ve been interested in LOTR. “We cannot linger” - how is this memorable? “...teaching them to speak” - this is a good line that is interesting. “I’m on seventeen!” - this is humorous and slightly memorable, but compare it with Gimli’s “That still only counts as one!” “...with a friend” - this is another good scenario, but the impact of this scene comes from Gimli. He is the one that this scene is testing. We are seeing if GIMLI has changed. We know Legolas has changed because from the start he isn’t even that prejudiced towards Gimli. To be honest he isn’t even in the Hobbit book so the line “don’t think I won’t kill you, dwarf” really doesn’t fit. Legolas never despises dwarves. His father had a problem with them, but we know from the beginning that Legolas is peaceful. He’s an elf. It’s Gimli’s stubbornness that drives the development between the two. Legolas is a great character. He’s better in the books. But he is the weakest member of the fellowship in the LOTR films. Gimli and Boromir both have a bigger impact on me than Legolas does, as well as many non-fellowship members: Théodon, Gollum, Eowyn, Elrond, Arwen, etc. To be honest I might even put Faramir, Saruman, Galadriel, and Bilbo above Legolas.

    This video: *boromir is bad because he didn't have enough screen time to prove himself.*

      @@BrentonsTVpretending as if anyone else wouldn't have tried either. Boromir was a good man with good principles even if aragorn was in his situation he would have the same end. He died protecting the hobbits and his first reaction as he's dying is they took the little ones

      Aragorn wasn’t sweating when he’s looking at Galadriel.
