The looks of these frames is ominous and stylish!😂❤
3:48 Mr. Darling, The Dad, from Disney’s Peter Pan! (1953) But I’m sure that John Lounsbery would’ve really appreciated that!! (had he lived long enough, could he have lived longer enough?)#MrDarling #Dad #DisneysPeterPan #JohnLounsbery P.S. He directed the animation for that character for that film.
3:41 Hey, that’s The Boy from Disney’s The Reluctant Dragon!(1941) 🐉
It's soooooooo beautiful!!! My heart 😭😭💓💓💓💓😭😭
Does anyone know where this is, or was going to be, from 3:46 ?
Love them
These are part of the Sacred Texts of the Legendary Animator Pantheon

Awesome, thanks,be blessed and all in Jesus shalom
Pencil animation always being a king of animation and more handy and comfort whereas digital animation can't come this level
You got some of the more emotional, and thoughtful shots in Iron Giant, and I am so glad you did. You can tell hes giving advice and being serious with his body language, and how hes moving reminds me of how dads move when their giving you hard advice, which matches the audio so well. It really makes me feel the gravity of what he is saying, fantastic Mr. Swofford :)
Well, sometimes not so well known animators come to light and you discover how talented this artist is. I didn't know about mister Swofford even if he animated some exceptional cuts. Thank you so much for posting this reel !
You're so magnificent!!! From the broadest comedic scene to the most grounded and solemn moment your characters have such life, such thought, such weight and volume. It's fascinating to see where your work slots into these films as a whole. I'm wondering how much you worked with Eric Goldberg over the years. If you ever make a book like many other masters have I'm going to buy it right away
0:14-1:12 That part for Iron Giant shoulda stayed in the movie. It would’ve taken it from 100 to 118. Love this movie always.
It was in the original, this is just a pencil test not a deleted scene
It was nice !
This is really good.
I am huge fan I would very much like to connect with you if possible.
That's really, really nice stuff, man. What school you go to learn all that? Must be hard to do that stuff, man.
We are fortunate and proud to be associated with Mike Swofford's brilliant work, of which this animation reel is a masterful demonstration.
Thank you very much for your kind comment!
What years were these done?
These were done between 1990 and 2001
I really appreciate seeing pencil tests posted by professional animators. Thank you, Mr. Swofford.
Oh my god, I wish I could have been a part of that era in animation. You're lucky (and talented)!
There are always opportunities presenting themselves if you look for them, like invisible doors that you can walk through before they disappear again. I was lucky to be interested in something that not many people considered for a career at the time, and because of the success of those films, now everybody wants in.
Congratulations, that's some super-nice stuff.
Best animation on UA-cam. Just fabulous, even without color.
Yikes! You did all that? Wow, what a career! Must have been fun to work on all my favorite films.
Iron Giant is one of my all-time favorite movies, animated or live-action. It's great you worked on it.
You made my childhood!
Highly entertaining.
