The STORY of this abandoned flooded Playstation 1 (PS1) console game 🎮, 🕹️:
I spend my days scouring 🔍 thrift stores for worn, abandoned, and damaged electronics, challenging myself to repair and restore them 🛠️. While hunting for a Sega Mega Drive 2🎮, I spotted a flooded PlayStation slim in the background of an ad, in terrible condition. I contacted the owner, who kindly gave it to me for free, having lost hope of it ever working again. This video documents the 36-day journey of restoring this console, given my care and attention to detail. I hope you enjoy watching it! 🎮🔧
In this video:
The restoration begins with a comprehensive cleaning 🧼, taking apart the console and tackling every component. A meticulous 4-step wash 🚿 ensures all flood remnants are erased. The ABS plastic will undergo a retro-brightening treatment 💡 to remove any discoloration, while rusty metal trays are refreshed with a nickel-plated finish 🛠️.
Moving on to repairs 🔧, a broken screw mount is reinforced with epoxy resin. The PS1’s lens receives a detailed overhaul 👓, and the circuit board is cleaned to address any water damage 🧽. Electrical connections, including the AC power socket and AV video plug, are re-soldered 🔌, and the power switch is restored 💡. There is absolutely nothing about these videos that are special..... except they are mesmerizing to watch, there is no music and not one blah blah blah at all. The dirt is normal for something sitting for 30 years and not touched, the condition is normal for that amount of time too. But again this is mesmerizing to watch and good for the soul for some reason. You are awesome at the restoration and brilliant for the audience choice in your video making. Bravo sir, bravo!

All that "magic nano eraser" work is totally removing the original surface texture in that plastic. I know from experience. U go even just a little too hard and you will smooth it out. Nintendo has always put a ripple texture on their consoles. Maybe this one is different but its lookin to me like u smoothed that bitch out completely...
Yeah u are right, but I already had a genuine console texture and I use that Sponge until the exact texture as the original one

I thought the plastic color correction was impressive, then he just casually starts nickel plating in a cup… I send batches of brand new parts out to be nickel plated all the time at specialist facilities and meanwhile this guy makes it happen in a cup on his desk. Absolutely outstanding.

@@RestoFix What we send out is typically batches of hundreds of parts, and very tight tolerances and typically the client will require certification. This process is perfect though for personal projects or repairs where paying lot charges of hundreds of dollars for a few parts doesn’t make sense.

When you mix glass cleaner and bleach, I would recommend saying something about NOT using ammonia-based glass cleaners like Windex.

This PSone has been modified by the previous owner to play copied game...I recognize the chip and the so-so work of a modder. Wonder why you did not remove that ugly octopussy during restoration. Excellent work by the way.
