ONE FOR ALL: The only wind shader you will EVER need! - Unity URP shader graph tutorial
In this video, I teach you how to make a Unity URP wind shader graph. This shader is universal and can be used on any model, grass, trees, vines, or anything else. I show you how to make your own basic grass model using Blender to be able to follow along, but this shader can be used on any model!
On top of all of that, this shader doesn't just displace, no it actually BENDS the grass making it more realistic, and allowing it to work on larger objects!

Hi Does it work too for 2D plants?
I didn't test it out on 2D, but i assume it would work with just a few modifications!
This is a bucket
Yes
If this shader was used for a game, how well would it perform under normal circumstances? great tutorial btw!
There are a few optimizations that can be made but that's more on the model rather then the shader, as this shader is designed to be able to be used on any object. General Optimizations can be: Bunching the models like grass or trees to reduce the draw calls, add LODs so distant models dont take up unnecesary resources, use gpu instancing. Each model will require different optimization tricks, but using them you can make a rather large scene. I ran some tests with a couple thousand bunches of grass and a hundred trees or so and in the editor it ran about 80 fps on a 1060 ti, AMD ryzen 7 It works perfectly for smaller games, as for larger (ex. large open world) you might need to look into even better optimization methods or use different methods like a geometry shader which is heavy on the programming side.. and im not a programmer :)
nice vid :D
Philosophically we have come full circle. Being a god is gonna be my newest profession 😎😎
I just told you who I thought I was ... a GOD!
*keanu reeve points* YOURE a god!
I felt this too using blender, a long time ago. Sometimes I feel like the most crooked god ever nowadays.
sometimes.. the feeling is overwhelming, but mostly im too lasy to make anything hah.. i guess we're only human in the end :)
Amazing video, keep it up !
Thank you, means a lot to me! :)
i had been thinking about learning blender recently so that i can make an oreo milkshake in a hurricane glass.
Go for it! you never know if it's for you untill you try :) Let me know how it goes!
Fun idea. But realistically, I think creating laws would mean, creating laws- in a more objective sense. If I do not want the universe defined by true and false, I would make another paradigm to define it- that's a god's power. Not exactly what a programmer can do- in fact the antithesis of any programmers most basic powers, defined by--- at all times -- an increasingly complex series of binary functions, zeros and ones- but still- its a fancy lens to discuss game design from. In fact, the game I'm concepting- was based upon a song I wrote about why I, if given god like power- would be a terrible god, and thank god, I've no such gift- or all would suffer it. lol. More so- I think people should want to be game designers- to make amazing experiences they can't have elsewhere, or to express the intent of their minds and share that with the world in a art form unlike others, while simultaniously being a culmination of- most of them ~ lol. Definitely not temped by godlike power, but - beautiful humanistic and powerful expression and experience creation?. Heck yes. This- I want in droves. Nicely done video all the same.
From the perspective of humanity i absolutely agree with you, and the way i understand it, is there are plenty of different perspectives to see it from. From the perspective of a game created by a game developer, or any art by an artist.. the creator is its god, having full creative control over it. I compared it to humanity and its creator that we see as god, the resemblence is astonishing in my mind. lastely, i didnt really mean to temp with god-like power, i think more so to give the power to make your own world however you see fit, whether its point is to create beautiful expieriences for others, expierience creation of its self, or create a form of hell to encounter. Every person has the right to choose what they want, and thats what i would like to offer. Thank you for your comment and your perspective, i feel it expanded my horizon :)
i love this video, it appeals to my delusions of grandeur. Yes i would like to become a god thank you
Then follow along my fellow fledgling, as we are all on the path to become the best of gods, only limited by our own desire to strive :)
Dude how do you make that in-game timelapse of modeling objects ?? That's really cool
Fairly simple effect actually, tho with my method it was a bit anoying getting the perspective aligned.. lets take the axe as an example: First i had to align the shots, i made a few scripts in unity to save the player location and look direction, then i went up to the tree and imagined the axe being there, save location and take a screenshot -Next i go into blender, import the tree, and align the shot referencing the screenshot -On my second screen i set up a static camera with a green screen in blender for easier cropping and recorded the whole process of creating the model -then i bring the model into unity and place it in the world in a way that matches the recording - note. i used "on top replica" app for this a lot -i record the second plate in reverse, starting from the perspective matching location, then leaving it and walking arround, so in reverse it seems like i walk up to the tree -In my video edditing software it combine it all together and thats the effect! Enjoy :)
@@boxstudios5081 wow thank you for the details I might try it some day ! Well done !
Such a good video wow good edited and worked so hard im ur 227.sub btw And srry for my english
I appreciate it man:) no worries about your english, whats important is that we understand each other! :)
New subscriber Amazing video You're a philosopher And I wonder if you're that guy from reddit with the barrel post today in r/blender
Awesome thank you for the sub! Maybe i can become a philosopher hah. I checked out the barrel post, really nice model but not mine. My barrel is a little bit different.. if you find the barrel video on my channel ;)
220 subs does not equate to how well made this video is made
Thank you so much!, it means a lot :) I have been editing for a long time now, but could never really figure out how to make an interesting video. I have the skills, just not the ideas :)
there are literally trillions of videos. its 2024. its not mind boggling that someone can use an editing program. lmfao chill tf out
@@AmandaRaeGA boo
@@AmandaRaeGA Thank you for your opinion :) Its true there are about 4 billion videos on youtube, and a lot of them are far better edited then mine. I wouldnt say however, that it makes it easy, you can clearly see my progress as an editor by checking out my early videos (shameless plug) :D seriously.. see my first video: ua-cam.com/video/ORtUgrNXB5k/v-deo.html you can hate on it i would too its that bad:)
@@boxstudios5081I'm not hating, I just think some commenters don't realize that they hurt a channel by being so obviously gushy. it makes people think they are on a dua lipa video section or something
Really good video I like the concept.
Thank you so much! :) This inspires me to put more effort into my next videos !

How did you make the extra edge loop at 1:31?
You do an extra individual face at 1:17, then there is a difference at 1:22. It seems like you added "Extrude Faces Along Normals", I couldn't understand. And that's why I can't add an extra edge loop.
Hello!, ah sorry, i seemed to skip that step, you can't just simply add an edge loop as the topology doesnt allow for it. So you can accomplished this by selecting the inner faces, extruding it inwards just slightly, then grabb the leftover loop and scaling it up a bit. I hope this helps!@@cansca1833
The collider isnt bad if you intentionally want the play to be able to fit in there perfectly, but you can reduce chances of the player getting stuck somewhere by having the collider to be a cube, but with the top slanted - for the roof. Otherwise, really nice work. I was actually thinking to myself "He should color it lighter where people touch," then you did it XD
A cube for the collider is what i had initially, but opted for one that fits just a little bit better. Kinda just on a whim thinking that a bit more accuracy will be better for interactions.
Nice

Hallo
Halloo
also how good are you at modeling buildings? since im trying to find a modaler for my game, if you need info on it, I have a vid called Wastelands: Arena - A Game I'm Making it should have a doc that has everything you need, if you find it intresting let me know, I would love your help
Hey, based on the documents, it seems like a neet game idea, i would love to make some models for you guys but unfortunately i am way to busy lately. I would only be able to spare a few hours weekly and i assume thats not enough for a full game development. I can barely keep up with my own daily model 😅
@@boxstudios5081 thats ok! we got school, and all of us working on the project also can only spare maybe a day or two on the project a week, so you'd fight right in! lol would you like the discord group? rn the other guys havnt gotten on it
Sure you can send an invite. But I can't promise I will make anything at all, as between intense work, hobby, and life I truly don't have any time to spare. But if I get the chance I'll see what I can do. I will definitly keep my eyes on you guys to see the development and support you at the very least!@@rhinothemarauder

Yeah, this one is a very simple one but it gets the job done
Very interesting.
Glad you think so!

Enjoying the format. Best of the old funny wit and the newer daily challenge flow.
From now on i will try to use this new format, but when i dont have time i will do a timelapses, whatever will be best for the givin day basically
Beautifully done, keep up the good work!!!!
Thank you so much! i hope i can improve my modeling speed and make these short videos more enjoyable for you guys:)
You'd probably do a lot better if you explained the process.
Thank you for the recommendation! I might start doing that in the future, currently, however, I don't have the time to spare for the extra editing.
Nice workflow and great result mate keep up
Thanks a lot, i appreciate it!
You seem to have optimized your new work flow with Photoshop. Looking juicy
ah.. the early days
Really cool to see the process, but at least show the result at the end!!!
Will do that next time!
