Bach: Suite No.4 for solo cello in E-flat major, BWV 1010 - BAE@home
Переглядів 4283 роки тому
Jonathan Miller - cello Bach's Cello Suite Number 4 in E flat may be the least often performed of the six cello suites. Perhaps some of you have not heard it and I will have the great pleasure of introducing you to this wonderful piece. In 1720 Bach had finished all Six Violin Solo Partitas and Sonatas, entitling them “Book 1". He then began composing the cello suites which were to be “Book Two...

Jonathan Miller - cello Randall Hodgkinson - piano The Opus 102 cello and piano sonatas from 1815 mark the beginning of Beethoven’s Late Period. He proudly called the C Major, No.1 his “free” Sonata. This D major sonata, wildly energetic and tender, is no less so: different thematic material from the first movement, including the opening bars and more cantabile passages later on, make altered a...

Lucia Lin - violin Miklós Rózsa - Sonata for solo violin One of the most noted composers of Hollywood’s Golden Age, Hungarian-born composer, Miklós Rózsa, is best known for winning Oscars for his film scores of “Spellbound” “A Double Life” and “Ben Hur”. Nevertheless he maintained a steadfast allegiance to writing concert music throughout what he called his "double life". He wrote a symphony an...

Ravel composed his piano trio in 1914, creating for humanity a true masterpiece of the genre. His virtuoso writing allows the three instruments to always be in balance and equally important. The Trio contains unusual harmonics and voicing, with brilliant and moving affect. Ravel’s genius for classical form and harmonic splendor fascinates listeners with its exotic Basque and Malaysian motifs, g...
Bach: Goldberg Variations - BAE@home

In 1741, Johann Sebastian Bach published a complex, intricate, and overwhelmingly beautiful keyboard piece that would become known as the Goldberg Variations, which pianist Randall Hodgkinson brings to life in our February Video. This iconic work begins with a simple and delicate aria that inspires 30 variations using different time signatures, textures, and harmonies. Every third variation is ...

Sounds terrific, such a great piece and played beautifully 👍👏
Beautiful. Heifetz's recording of his violin concerto is one of my favorite albums in the genre.
this is pretty good
💜💜 hi Dina & Juli! this is just stunning 😍😍
15:20 2nd adagio
Great music! Bravo!!
Un quintette inconnu, mais d'excellente qualité. Schubert, tel que nous l'aimons dans sa musique de chambre. Très bonne prise de son, Bravo !
What a treat! When I first saw the UA-cam thumbnail, I though to myself, "ugh, another couple of amateurs making a home video". Boy, was I wrong. Then I saw the beautiful Steinway played even more beautifully by Ms. Weinstein, the two condenser microphones placed perfectly over the piano, and the robbie-the-robot sized pair of speakers, and I knew I was in for a treat. Add a little digital reverb, and the performance and recording rivaled anything you could reasonably expect to hear. Kudos to all.
Beautifully rendered. Thanks and please have some more. ❤😂🎉❤🎉
Excelentes musicos, muchas gracias!!!
Astounding! Recalls even "Lark Ascending".....Riveting.....BRAVA Maestra Lin....from Acapulco!
Very bad

Very good performance
Schubert must be so proud!
It was composed in 1828 and completed just two months before the composer's death. The first public performance of the piece did not occur until 1850
Wonderful playing!!
These 2 really got into the groove,phew! 3:03 3:25 4:27 4:38, 4:43, 5:11, 7:14, 7:37
It's so intimately HOMELY, LOVE IT! Where it's meant to be played.
Bravi!
Simply gorgeous. This is one of the most bewitching works of music, I'm happy to hear it so wonderfully played. Probably almost 20 years ago, I turned pages for Randy Hodgkinson for several concerts with the three of you. Must have been around Boston different places. You were playing the Schubert Eb and this trio. I learned so much just by being in proximity of such fine musicianship. I feel like this piece is one of the most difficult in the piano repertoire. I worked on it at NEC with Randy back in 01 I think. Veronica Jochum was our coach, what a great experience!
Thanks David! The trio is playing in Brookline on Nov 6 at 3:00. Please check our website for details and we hope you can come.
Incredible, buoyant, beyond technical limitations. I have a musical crush!!! More more!
Sounds like you're in love.
3:32, sonata starts
Thanks! from Acapulco!
Bravo tutti!
Interesting and appealing music. Very thoughtful performance. Mr Miller’s vibrato brings to mind Mr Greenhouse.
A fine rendition of a very charming piece. Bravo. The groaning is a somewhat distracting however.
Tell that to Serkin! when i bought a much better system i could hear him humming along ! #(Emperor)
Bravo! I just don’t know what the fuss is about Strads when cellos like this one exists.
Fascinating that neither of these experienced musicians had ever heard of Rozsa before! In years past, those big movies made Rozsa, if not a household name, at least one recognizable to music lovers. The "Spellbound Concerto" was a popular staple and the "Parade of the Charioteers" was played by every band in the country. Well, times change. But fortunately the music endures. I'm glad that Ms. Lin has latched onto it.
Gorgeous!
Bravo to Lucia. Beautiful playing. Impressive composer. Enjoyed very much.
Spectacular music! Fabulous playing!
Bravo!!
Exquisite playing! Can’t wait for the next one!
Beautiful!
Bravo to both of you. It brightened my day.
how lovely - can't wait for the summer at Tangewood.
In the 2019-2020 season the BAE scheduled this piece for concerts in March, which were cancelled when the Governor declared an emergency. It is a delicious work which you perform with great sureness. Thank you, and I hope that we'll get to hear it in person before long.
Wonderful.
Absolutely beautiful. Well done, the 3 of you. Now, can we discuss the violinist’s gorgeous hair??
Every time I listen to this I hear more going on and love it even more, thank you Randy.
Finally got a chance to listen to all of it, Randy. I grew up with the Goldbergs and they've been a part of me since I was six years old. Sublime performance! Love it! Will share this recording with my students. Thanks for letting me know about this.
Wonderful music with feeling. Thanks to Mr. Randy Hodgkinson. I wish I could be there.
Gorgeous! Each voice sounds free and easy, doing just as it likes, as though you were thinking of nothing but that line and not twisting your hand inside out to accommodate another. Like three hands (and minds). Thank you for a calming and illuminating gift in a dark season.
Remarkably serene, thrilling and refreshing. Almost a magic potion. Bravo to Randy Hodgkinson for revisiting the Goldberg and sharing with us all.
I've listened about four times already -- so there. I wish that we could hear this in a live concert, though.
Wonderful, moved me to tears. Thank you three!
A refreshing performance by two brilliant, animated artists. Looking forward to the November event. Thanks, BAE!
Beautiful program--thank-you Julieanne!
we have to talk about the music stand! ;)
