Tony solo trying it out with the little motor.
‘85 184 still going strong
These are the true legends boys
Old school awesome
Wow you hit the holy grail with a Model 05 Eagle idk the year sadly gonna assume 1985 Eagle Model 05 But I could be wrong I know I’m right about the Model 05 part tho
I love my 20ft Bullet with 225 Merc, but these champions were bad ass back then, I love this blue and grey with Evinrude XP! My very first new boat was a 1990 16ft Bass cat with a 115 Evinrude, that boat was very fast for a 16ft boat low 60s, boat weighed 700 pounds, I tried to get a Champion Mean 15 with a 115 but it cost more than the new bass cat, I didn’t have a lot of credit at 19 years old, they would approve me ,the 15ft champion was wide like the bigger boats back then just very short! I remember a pro base ball player putting a 150 Evinrude on his mean 15, put sand bags in front storage to keep nose down!
They really are awesome boats! I would have loved to see that Mean 15 run!!
Theres some good coverage of wide open running !
Great video!
Deutsche Financial shut them down, they were purchased by the OMC Boat group and moved to the Stratos Plant in Tennessee. They got the molds and all of the equipment and released boats with the Champion name for a number of years. The Mountain Home plant was not shut down until about September of 2001.
It was actually Keith Crosby doing most of the driving with some Bill Pace & Bruce Benton thrown in. The best boat by any measure!
LOVE MY CHAMP 1995 18 FOOTER ..MY BROTHER HAS ONE 2001 20 FOOTER BEST BOATS EVER MADE, LOOKING TO PURCHASE A USED ONE SOON, WILL NEVER CHANGE LUV U CHAMP BOATERS---------------------
Just because Champion went out of biz doesn't mean they didn't create the best riding, handling bass boat EVER.
That's got to be Pat Goff doing the driving. That man can drive a boat!
Pat's a great guy!
Check out the UA-cam video of the motor falling off the back of a Champion.
Easy fix, just pick it up and put it back on. Happens quite frequently to intelligent beings.
That was due to a run of bad jack plates
Ranger, skeeter, And Bass cat are all still making boats. Champion went out of business in case folks haven't noticed. Charger just released a Champion clone. Hope it sells.
Bob Barnhill what does it matter is still a good boat
thats because genmar bought them out and shut them down
your spooking the fish!
Toured the Champ factory in the 80's.... they had a similar video playing in the waiting room before we toured....Love our 184 as well, Great riding and Looking Boat!
One can only hope that Johnny Morris will pull out those Champion molds and reintroduce them. Maybe that's what Hopper and the other executives at Ranger who just resigned have in mind. We dream can't we.
I really like my 184
What year
Love my 86' 176....:)
LOL marinerguy.. perhaps.. buy my 184 with a hopped up XP200 sure did scoot around the lake!
The worst thing that Champ ever did was allow engines other than merc/mariner to be hung on their rigs!
im with ya, my Evinrude 140 blew yesterday, after only35 years. my fault, got it hot
82 16ft champ, it would turn out from under you,
@@lylypad7601 A Mercury would have died 33 years ago and i own two, a 06 Optimax 150hp on my18 ft Ranger with only 33 I owner hours and my 08Bullet with 08 225 sportXS with 127 original hours I loved Evinrude and Johnson they were faster than Merc and better looking back in these days when this video was recorded!
Can ya?
where are all the skeeter and r boat lovers, LOL! the fx can't do what a 25 year old champ can do!
