    Is there a wrong way to put skiffs in or are they the same on both sides ? Any info would be appreciated?

    • @thepracticalblade9013
      @thepracticalblade9013 8 днів тому

      Depends - What do you mean same on both sides? Same thickness of the cage on each side of the bearings? If so, then yes, they're the same. Skiffs, to my knowledge, are 100% symmetrical on all dimensions. What issue are you having?

    • @sterlingstoots3215

      @thepracticalblade9013 my brand new yan chevron full titanium will flick good about 5 times then it tightens up I have cleaned it and installed skiffs and still tight I called the maker I have to ship it on my dime of course made by Reate I should not be having these problems out of a $300 knife I'm so stressed.

    • @thepracticalblade9013
      @thepracticalblade9013 8 днів тому

      @@sterlingstoots3215 I mean, to be fair, you MODIFIED a $300 knife... did you have those problems beforehand? Or did it come with skiffs? I've had that happen before and sometimes there is an insanely small piece of debris or a metal shaving / burr that is trapped in a bearing cage somewhere. Might be good to give them a scrub with a toothbrush and some alcohol and re-lube.

      @thepracticalblade9013 I put the Skiffs in the knife after I called the manufacturer told me to Clean it and I did and it's worse I put the skiffs in and it's smooth it still tightens up after a few flicks I'll just send it in to yan.Thanks for all the help I didn't mod it though I took out the skiffs and put the original back in it .

    I got the poor man's version - the Six Lead SL-27. Fit and finish is perfect. Beautiful and detent is just right, < $40. Forget the Rike, the steel might be better, but other than that it is almost the same knife with a little cover on the handle. For self defense, I wouldn't care what steel is doing the poking.

      @mitweakz866 Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Knives have kind of fallen off as a hobby for me. I got a South African custom that was basically perfect and it killed my desire to buy more. Also, most production knives these days are just "more of the same", so Irshad to justify buying them and reviewing them to put out another review basically identical to the last.

    I always felt that the giantmouse ace sonoma in titanium was super underrated. got mine a while back and was surprised just how good it is, for around 200 bucks at the time of buying. it is made by reate, so I really shouldn't be surprised. definitely one of the best bang for buck knives in my collection.

    I have the small sebenza 21, large Inkosi, and 2 Umnumzaan's in droppoint and tanto. The Umnumzaan is just special, the blade, the deep hollow grind, the swedge. I even love the tight action, thumb studs, and the lockbar. Got used to the knife in a few days. No pain or trouble opening or closing the knife. I even prefer the Umnumzaan over my Koenig Arius.... If you're going to buy your first Chris Reeve, buy a Sebenza.

    After 17 versions, they still haven't fixed the pocket clip. It is what it is. It's for office slacks. I have the now discontinued milled bronze ano version, and frankly wouldn't lend it to anyone at the office. The blade grind is a thing of beauty (just look at how thin that secondary bevel is), but that also means its about as sturdy as a utility knife near the edge. I don't mind fatter carries. An Opinel garden knife is about the same dimensions, more comfortable in hand, and even thinner behind the edge. And at $17 (or is is $19 now), I might consider lending it to the apes.

    I have a haptic coming next Monday. I bought it from a buddy in their group from a killer deal as he carried it and did light cutting. It’s going to be a work edc for me so I don’t care in the least. I’m stoked to compare it to my arius. The Koenig was a grail I obtained when I got new last promotion. This Holt was a reward for finally getting a vertical cnc machinist position I’ve been running for for the last year now. Problem is, where do you go from holt? The only knives I’ll be happy with now, being a machinist, are cnc customs lol. We make high end firearm parts so I’ve grown very critical. The lock bar wear really shouldn’t be an issue with them. I’ve heard nothing but great things about their customer service. But when you pay this much to an American knife maker, you expect it.

    I totally get and agree with your review. Important question, I am considering returning it. The G10 handle is sanded and polished so smoothly that it is slippery in my hand. Which could be dangerous. Was or is your handle slippery? Did your handle improve? Having spent all that money, to start sanding or creating a more grippy texture seems absurd. I just received mine today, the handle texture is not what was represented in the model I created. My Crooked River is a brother or at least a cousin of your knife. Completely black custom Benchmade Mini Crooked River. It does not have the smooth rocking play that my more than a decade-old BENCHMADE 707 McHenry & Williams SEQUEL KNIFE still has. That was maybe the third-axis lock model made. The Mini is a beautiful form. I might score it a 7.6. The action of my blade if I work on it "might" smooth out. The arrow split clip would have been a much better choice, sigh, I designed mine with the same deep cover carry clip as yours. Please let me know your thoughts, especially about the handle. Thanks for your review.

    I don’t have claws or anything of the sort, but really? I guess if you have toddlers hands it could be an issue, but just barely. As far as usefulness goes, for me an OTF is the most useful pocketknife out there. Being able to be dealing with something (standing on a ladder installing a ceiling fan, as an example) and be able to take the knife out of your pocket, open it, cut whatever, close it and return it to your pocket, one handed SAFELY without any gymnastics, is where an OTF shines.
