Very nice… however, because the video has been sped up I can’t judge how fast the wheel is really going. Please advise.. Thanks 🌸
The speed is between 100 and 150 rpm.
@@MeditativePottery2022 ok thanks so much.. also, I’m right handed so which way should the wheel be turning? Is this even a thing?? Thnx 🌸

Beautiful!
There's a time gap that omits a point where fabric was placed between the bowl and the form. Wouldn't the fabric cause creases in the clay?
If the fabric is thick, yes it would cause creases. The one I used didn’t.
That is a lot of work for the pattern.
Yes, it took a lot of time, I have to make shorten the video by high speed 😀
So beautiful and amazing shareing Thank you so much dear colleague
Thanks so much for appreciating my work 😀

❤❤❤❤❤ MAGNIFIQUE ! SUBLIME ! INSANE BEAUTY !
That is such a beautiful piece! I don't understand how that pattern was formed on the outside. I've been watching raku videos because I would like to try it. But that's the first time I've seen such a pattern. So far the ones I've seen have been more erratic. Is it affected by the thickness of the coating on the outside? Beautiful work from start to finish!
No, it’s not affected by the thickness of coating. I used pin tool to scratch so the smoke can penetrate in. If the coating is too thick, the smoke marks would not be visible.
@@MeditativePottery2022 thanks so much for sharing your secret! And thanks for the inspiration! Oh the ideas tumbling through my head!
what happed to showing how you make the cut? I'd really like to see that part.
Thanks for your feedback. I will make a video to explain how to cut it later. Once it is done, I will let you know.
As promised, here is the video to show how to cut ua-cam.com/video/PpUfBYfCoJ4/v-deo.html

I'm not sure if you are cleaning off unburnt straw, or whether you're actually chipping away some of the glazed area. Again, you have a nice sense of how to place pattern on the form.
Two layers (slip and crackle glaze) are on top of the bisque fired vase. I chipped off the slip and crackled glaze.
nice gourd shape. Your patterns always hug the form in a harmonious way.
very pleasing soft pattern.
Thank you! 😊
What an interesting approach! It's a bit of a trick getting that bottom to close in---- bet that center is prone to getting an S-crack. The tall foot is very elegant!
Yes, it is easy to get a S-crack if you don't press hard enough. I have not get any so far. :)
I'm enjoying seeing your pots. Personally, this technique is not for me---- it's a bit of a gimmick that has been done to death, and l don't find the colors or texture appetizing. It looks like a dirty stovetop to me!
Thanks for expressing your thoughts. :)
Very appealing decoration. The brushwork makes it look like the pot has vertical ridges, or segments, like a pumpkin. Would be lovely in an austere minimalist room.
lnteresting how the painted design kept the smoke from penetrating the clay, making the background darker than the brushwork. Do you make your own slip? Do you biscuit fire your raku first?
Your work has a nice casual look that shows you enjoy the process. Nice
Those shows are a lot of work, especially for a potter. I had a weaver friend, and when a show was over, he folded his whole inventory into a suitcase, and he was done. I'd need an hour just to pack!
Nice result, very spontaneous looking! At that stage of hardness, the clay is like carving into chocolate.
Such a beautiful shaped pitcher! 🤩🤩
If you’re not gonna show the whole process it’s not worth it
Very nicely designed and executed

these are very tricky the finer functions will have to be implemented in the Glazing process no doubt.
Nice jar, I might try to make one.

Great idea, thanks for this video. I would have enjoyed an even slower version to better observe your technique. Thanks!
Thanks for your comment, I will post a slow version of that, and in a different angle 😀
Please take a look at this video I just made: ua-cam.com/video/7ifiYj3kNOo/v-deo.html It is a slower version of that technique. Hope it explains better.
Les kouloughlis ne peuvent qu'être jaloux.
Thanks for the great video. I hadn't seen wet newspaper used to induce crazing before. I know the hot glass folks use it, so going to have to try it next raku firing. The idea of blowing with my lips that close to a red-hot pot felt like an accident waiting to happen. Question: I thought naked raku had two coats of glaze - something with a lot of clay first, and then a normal crackle glaze over that. Your video looks like one glaze with maybe a wax resist around the top unless you didn't film every trade secret ;-)
You are right, there are 2 layers like you said. I often forget to film the glazing part, specially the second layer. Also I find it is boring. :)
Is it majolica or underglaze painting, in the end?
Under glaze
