Not a good real world philosophy, like many things there are too many contradictions, and it's too black and white. Some people will have the same views, those people will inevitably join and become groups, groups with opposing ideas will clash, it will always happen because everyone believes differently and all see their views as true. People were not designed to live entirely as individuals, we crave community and brotherhood, family. A better speech would encourage the people to take stock of whether what they are told is right, esspecially when they find themselves in a mob, because mob mentality is the death of reason. You can have your leaders, we will always have leaders in people we find to be wise and trustworthy, but question leaders who call upon you to commit violence on others. The Assassins' creed, "nothing is true, everything is permitted" is the worst offender and most hypocritical of all. Nothing is true is a paradox, it must be true, yet it cannot be, and reality itself dictates what is true (the sky being blue and the existence of cats and dogs for example, are not up for debate, they are objective truths). Everything is permitted is also a lie, because the Assassins themselves have a code, and certain actions are not tolerated within their order. One could not join the Templars and still be an Assassin, for example. Preaching individual truths as a method for peace is a doomed prospect, because division causes strife. At the same time, we cannot lose our individuality and risk becoming a mindless mob with a single purpose. The actual truth is far more nuanced: that the path to peace is learning to work together, to try and see the humanity in others, and yet to understand and tolerate that no two men will ever think exactly the same.

This quote is one of my all-time favorites. It really brings everything full circle for Ezio and gives him a chance to do more than just stab people, but also to teach a lesson. One of the reasons why Ezio grows up to be one of the best leaders of the assassins is because he is always willing to choose his own way, rather than giving up his freedom to any cause. When we become too bent on following the traditions and order of things, we close ourselves off to growth, which is why the assassins were falling apart until Ezio took charge.
