Its really cool! It’s kinda like a puffy steeze with even more volume right behind the seat. It has a ton of rocker. Felt super fast because the stern would load when I boofed, but it has really flat sidewalls in the bow so it doesn’t like sweep strokes when my weight was forward. Supposedly this was changed on more recent protos, along with less stern volume. Created with the #GoPro App on my ...

Hyperview Gopro footage from the time trial World Class Kayak Academy hosted on the last day of our 2 week stay at the Valin. Gopro got folded forward after a pretty flat landing on Honeypot. I finished in 1:09, placing me in 2nd behind Alec Voorhees, tied with Kiah Schepe, and ahead of all students by at least 6 seconds.

Is that a right line in first falls?
Very cool Boof in Supermax!!
📸kevin kopf
whats the highest you want to run this as a pfd?
200-250
Actually up to 300 is probably fine, just would definitely recommend someone to follow down.
i’m in love with you!
💕Wow💚💚💚💜💚💚💚
Very nice...looks like a nice Dagger take on the Puffy...maybe a bit more nimble due to being narrower???
needs a drake song
Looks tasty
Great video! Do you know what flow this was?
I think 300? It was low.
Yes
great edit!
Why an awesome sport!
Awesome Jack!!
damn that boat looks so responsive i've gotta try one!
what river is this
South St. Vrain Creek, near Lyons, Colorado
What River? And what is WICKA?
Rouge River, WCKA stands for World Class Kayak Academy, it's the traveling high school I attend.
That's quite a fascinating high school. Stay safe and keep it up! @@jackkayak
Very nice run, the line looked really clean. I feel like you could work on your start's stroke speed though.
Thanks for the tip
worldclass children
indeed?
❤
What's the level here?
Don’t read French so I can’t figure out how to get to previous data on the gauge - but it was filmed over the course of the first week of October, sorry.
My dude get several SWR courses in and do dry land systems practice this winter. You got the boat, everyone is safe. You can still increase your margins of safety with more practice
Cooles Video. Grüße ronactive
That was an easy fix but made it way worse. 🤦🏽♂️
Elaborate? It was pinned on an island that was not accessible without endangering others.
How did you like that Spade boat?
idk what the goal of it was. it had too much stern to slice easy. good for quick boofs but its speed died instantly
Glad you made it out ok. Might want to take a formal SWR course, both you and your buddy. You can learn some things from experience, but you'd probably have had a lot easier time unpinning that Ripper if you knew a few tricks. But good job staying calm and not rushing anything.
This video would MUCH BETTER without the AWFUL HIPSTER-RAP MUSIC. The music TOTALLY FUCKING SUCKS, and is for brainless idiots. The kayaking is fantastic, the scenery is beautiful, but this RETARDED MUSIC …… really???
🫘
all my race runs as well as gore and north st vrain are uncut footage.
Wow, really promoting your only solution of unity there, way to bring is all together, haha. This dude is doing us a service by providing info on a seldom run section, you can just mute it
awesome, just awesome. You guys caught that river level just right. That must have been fun.
Yes it was!
That’s class 5?? Really?
No, probably not. Class IV for certain
@@AnonymousOtters that’s a stretch even calling that a 4 from where I come from. That’s maybe 3+ / 4- tbh
@@jeffkrueger8072 Grading is not entirely objective anyways, it has more to due with overall risk on a run than how the water looks. The run has a long, continuous sequence of rapids, with some clear hazards including wood and holes, and has a seriously long runout that would be hard to protect despite roadside access. That is pretty firmly within the description of a class 4, and it looks like that is the consensus by the community at American Whitewater as well.
@@AnonymousOtters 1. The OP is grading on the swim section, hence as am I. 2. Class 4 “long difficult rapids… often requiring difficult maneuvering…”. None of that here. At rhis level, this is low volume / low push with nothing to really avoid: it’s 15’ wide channel and any hole is easily backpaddled to skirt at bare minimum. 3. There’s no wood in this section per video. Regardless, knowing that run at that water level in that section, ya, no, not a 4 but as someone posted it can be “subjective” and per my history and the AWA definition you cite… not a 4
There was some wood. The hole he initially swam out of had ~4’ of recirc, you’re not paddling out of that easily.
I would have ran that same line you did while your friend was still in the hole. get downstream of him so you can help.
If everybody lived to paddle another day it was a good rescue. I would suggest carrying a couple of prussic loops in your pin kit. The loops would have allowed you to release the tension on the rope. When boating with a small team (2-3) each person should have a complete pin kit, in bigger group you can usually spread the gear between people. There is a saying in the adventure world, "Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement." Honestly, you did a good job, you will have a great story about it, and you've learned something.
Paddled this many times, Blue bridge down is not Class V
After conferring with several other much more experienced paddlers, we came to this conclusion, taking into account the recirculation at this flow, the wood, and the consequence.
It's all a matter of opinion at the end of the day. That would be STOUT class IV
Yeah elephant buttress is class 4, the run out sucks to swim because of the road blast. I would not want to swim it. But look at AW they classified as as class 4 also even after the change in 2019.
Despite the swimmer standing in the creek, the next noticeable thing was the amount of the small diameter rope you had. It seemed to be more of a nuisance with the untangling and keeping it away from your feet. Granted, longer is better when including it as the butt part of the anchoring system, but messing around with it seemed to take up a lot your time. With the number of biners with you, which is a good thing, I would have used a hitch (munter) in lieu of overhand knots---much more control and easier to untie; and no need to have created a second anchor to relieve the tension from the leader before cutting the butt anchor. But, yeh, all this is 20-20. Regardless and under the circumstances, you performed an excellent rescue. I can fix those dents. xD
Soo fun! I did it at 550 in 2022. That was the best.
I gotta get that next season.
We've run EB at a lower level, and the run out is teh scariest part...a meat grinder if your upside down.
Yea, luckily there isnt any holes in it.
That is a lot of flat water
yup.
Let's go!!
