Very nice, too bad its no vibratioms alarm. 😢
@@randomescu This is true!
I was born in 1999 lol
You did a good job restoring this one. I’m shocked your vacuum store had a motor mount for these. The motor mounts always break on these elites. If they used longer screws, chances are the motor mounts would probably last. You did get the date code right. Believe it or not, Hoover never really changed their extension wands after the elite. They used the same wand on the windtunnels as well. I own a Futura, which is simply a red version of the dimension. It’s probably one of the best vacuums I’ve ever used. To be honest no matter what bag you use in these, there will always be some dust built up since the motor blows the dirt into the bag. The tool suction is not that bad. Definitely better than the suction on a concept or should I say the Powermax self propelled. The build quality on these are actually good, and there are still so many of these that are still working. I’m still pissed off Hoover decided to stop making a lot of the parts for these. Like good luck finding a new old stock fan for these on eBay. The carbon brushes are also hard to find as well. I hope the same size of the carbon brush is still being made.
@@eviecardinal Many thanks! Yeah, you would think one could still source parts for these because of all the years the machine was in production. It is indeed beloved by a lot of folks.
Very nice 👍. Should I put it on my Christmas list?
@@Bunkysworkshop I think you’d like it! I tagged you because of the Kenmore vacuums you’ve collected lately. Though this ain’t Sears anymore…it still evokes a little bit of nostalgia with a modern flare.
Just got a red one and I love it
@@gregthurman8108 Awesome! You’re a man of good taste!
How to replace the belt?
Lay the vacuum on its back, remove the 5-6 screws that hold the bottom plate on, take the brush roll out and remove the belt. Add new belt and trace steps back.
I like the older version of these
I use to have this model
would you do a video of those beautiful sounding clocks im hearing in the background? 😃
@@nathanielaranda8407 Definitely! That’s on my video to do list.
I love the color, maroon wine colors have always been my favorite. I have a Kirby G5 for this reason
@@nathanielaranda8407 Excellent!
I have the non self propelled version of this that I found at a local thrift store for $15 back in the spring of 2021. they are great machines
@@nathanielaranda8407 Definitely! Probably some of the best (value for money) ever.
I personally dont really like sharks, the reason is they kind of seem to be high maintenance and im not a fan of that. I had a shark very similar to this several years ago, it was more annoying to me than anything. I like the function of them and how well they handle but the constant feeling like everything has to be cleaned out all the time bothered me. the other thing is that finding parts and actually getting into them is a pain, however these older ones though they are that way they are much better than the over engineerd junk they make now. I ended up giving mine to my best friend who was going off to collage for his dorm and I bought a used KIRBY G series. much easier to maintain for me. I really only prefer bagged machines because they are just easier to keep clean and maintain. I really do enjoy these videos
@@nathanielaranda8407 That’s very kind of you! I agree, a Kirby is awesome to own. I’ve got a G7 two-speed - love it!
I don't know why but i bet you don't have kids / children... Something weird make me feel this way.
@@gottmituns3225 I’ve got a son…but I bought him lots of toys of his own so he was never tempted to go rough with my tanks😂.
I had no idea Hoover kept making these in Mexico in 2013. I thought by 2009 they would’ve made these in China. I remember these machines being very popular when they were still around. I still question myself why I never bothered on buying one. It is sad to see the self propelled feature being scrapped. I assume it was to save money since people want bagless junk that is meant to be thrown away these days. Consumer reports always ranked these number 1 for uprights. These really were great machines than what most people thought they were. The self propelled cable did break a lot, and the original brush roll always needed greasing, but other than that they performed very well and a lot of them are still working. I wish Hoover would at least keep making parts for these.
@@eviecardinal I wholeheartedly agree! Both this and my 2002 Windtunnel Lite perform magnificently, are a joy to use, and invoke a classic appeal to vacuum design. Bagged really is best…and these machines deliver.
Good point about "hijacking" the right time (I made a video about this 😂). Great Vostoks! 😊
@@timeandnourishment1961 Many thanks!!
I have the same watch, only with an unmarked bezel. The shop I bought mine from claims only 20 m of water resistance, but it has the same screw down crown, outer ring and serious gasket as an Amphibia. It is also easy to regulate. The date feature is a pain in the bum.😢 As for the green dial and the red star at the 12 o'clock, I call it the Komandirskie Heineken. Thanks for this video. Cheers 🍻!
@@timeandnourishment1961 Cheers, my friend! I agree about the water resistance and date complication rigmarole.
Cool machine. Don’t ever pull out the turbo tool. I’ve returned three of these in the past cause the little clips broke and would no longer hold the tool in place. I much prefer the older original windtunnel self propelled models. I had the metallic silver one which I believe was top of them one back in the early 2000’s. Like 2004 I think maybe. Anyways miss that vacuum. Did a great job! Wish Hoover would do a re launch
@@garrettdodson6110 Totally! That would be cool if they did a re-launch.
Its February 2003
What's your rating for this watch, out of ten? Any drawbacks?
@@1OneMinutePlease Almost no drawbacks overall. I bought it in 2004 when my eyesight was perfect. Now that I’m an old bugger, I find it harder to see the subdials. As for the quality of dial, hands, steel, finish and movement - it’s top-notch! I’d say a 9 out of 10.

Hey buddy, great video looking at these classics. I'd just like to mention that the original UK big trak did have the socket to plug the trailer into. I think the one you have there is the 2010 re-release which don't have that port. Thanks
@@JohnnyBareToes1 Oh, right. That makes sense. Was the dump trailer also white as opposed to the gray?
@@DoctoredGinst No the UK version of the trailer was grey also. Never figured out why they didn't change the colour here to match
Oh the flash backs... I traded a remote control tank to my friend for his Bigtrack because "it doesn't do anything", and when I figured it out I showed him, and he DEFINITELY wanted it back. LOL. Now I wanna get one and put a roomba brain in it! Thanks for the nostalgia!
@@3dartstudio007 That’s hilarious! A Roomba brain would suit the tank well!

I'm around 4 years younger than you and I remember seeing these toys when I was a kid back in 1979 and the early 1980's (Birmingham UK) and drooled over them but could never afford one. It's great to see one still working. There are spare parts still available online (eBay and the like) so hopefully you'll be able to get yours up and running again.
@@andybrooks7228 That’s great advice. If perhaps I could find a working motor and an intact front axle, my original Trak would function like new. That would be fantastic!
I would recommend getting a Bissell Powerforce Compact, These Dirt devils are extremely cheap. If you don't believe me, I've had 3 of these dang vacuums, And one of them had multiple screw-posts snap off. Another one the hose snapped out so it wouldn't stay in anymore, and another one I bought new had a warped handle so it was broken out of the box. These are terrible vacuums.
@@VacuumLover14KP I already own a Powerforce Compact. You’re welcome to watch a video I posted on it.
@@DoctoredGinstdirt devils are my favorite brand
@@snoopysrc Nice! You sir are a gentleman and a scholar!
Good walk-through! I have several 50's vintage series 5. FYI, the floating shift mechanism relates to the typebar segment of the type basket moving rather than the entire type basket. It's not about the ratchet platen mechanism. Phoenix Typewriter has a good tutorial on adjusting shift locks. ua-cam.com/video/-GNs_AAkhos/v-deo.html
@@mattcwatkins I’m glad you brought that up. I learned about the floating shift on Joe Van Cleave’s channel the other day. I’m definitely learning the proper names and functions of my Silent 5.
