Tracey austin was chris everts bogey player. Austin annoyed chris often. Austin lifted when she played chris evert. She lead evert 9 to 8 in h2h clashes.

I also think the ball was on the line. I felt very traumatized by this match, I remember screaming at the TV when I was like 12 yrs old. This match was a claasic.

Keys to this match - both Navratilova and King’s return of serve were off in the 3rd set.

Billie Jean King has said that Chris Evert was better as the number 2 player in the world than she was when she was number 1 all those years. Martina pushed her to become better. Physically, genetically, Martina was just the better athlete.

I remember back 10 or so yrs ago people with opiate addictions could go on rapid detox in 1 day and the doctor would put you to sleep and when you wake up all the withdrawals are now gone. I think the medication was called Naltrexone and would cost you roughly $3000 for the treatment. I dont know of any place in Sydney that still does this rapid detox but i would gladly give them the $3000 or more if it would get me off methadone, its been over 25yrs now on the goose juice or methadone and just want to be off it once and for all

I started using the gear (heroin) in the late 80s i was 17yrs old and had 5 or 6 friends who also was the same age as me and started using about the same time. I gave it up in 2001 when all of Sydney was going through a heroin drought and no one had anything even Australia's heroin capital Cabramatta was completly dry and eveyone was getting ripped off or going on the methadone programme which is what i did. Its been over 25 years and i am still on methadone at 55yrs old and probably be on it for the rest of my life as i have tried at least 20 times to gradually lower my dose and ween myself off it. Each time i tried always ended the same way in failure and how i wish i never went on methadone although it did help me at the time

I just don't think America was ready for Chrissy Amphlett. They could barely handle Wendy O'Williams. Because when you listen to their 6 song set, every song is radio friendly as anything else out at the time. In some instances, I hear Top 40, if not Top 20 hits. (Boys In Town / Only Lonely / Science Fiction). That years later, when her image had changed, and their music somewhat, they would get that success; just seems too late. They already should have been a significant band on the charts and on MTV. It comes off like a one hit wonder act, a fluke. When it's very clear they knew how to write great songs, and she had the energy to bring across every one of them with the same intensity every time. I just don't think America was ready for Chrissy Amphlett. She's a different kind of woman.

Opening game Chris changes the pattern of losing her serve and falling behind at beginning of the match. Seldom has Chris won the first set , barely lose the second and win the close third set. In most of Chris’s 3 set wins Chris loses the first set and wins. Second and third sets. Down 40-15 on her opening serve Chris hits a winning volley and a severe backhand to pull back to deuce instead of being broken .

This may perhaps her greatest slam final win but I believe her best played tactfully, most important win to her legacy and record is her comeback win against Tracy Austin 1980 US open Sf. Without that win and what it meant at the time to Chris without this win there may have not been a French 85 because Chris may have retired if she couldn’t beat Austin and be ranked ahead of Austin. Losing her rank to a player who played the most like her. Beating Tracy gave Chris a new lease on her career, much like winning this match ( Chris said of this win “ Oh good, I can play for a few more years”.!

Of course I've seen holding two balls to serve, but I had never seen holding two balls and dropping one when the first serve goes in! Not only that, she came awfully close to rolling her ankle on some of those dropped balls. Unbelievable!
