Hi Madam. I wish to seek for some advice from Madam regarding following cases. I encountered a case as follow: PSD showing SILT content is higher (55%) as compare to the CLAY content (15%); but, Atterberg Limit result showing it is CLAY of low plasticity, CL (LL=33%, PL=21%, PI=12%). In this case, how should i do the naming and which result should i refer to? Thanks in advance Madam 😊
Hi, sorry for a late reply. I believed that you’ve conducted a wet sieving & hydrometer test for PSD. However, referring to BS 5930, it stated that ‘Fine soil should be described as either a “SILT” or a “CLAY” depending on the plastic properties’. So, the best is…. refer to Atterberg limit test results. Perhaps this might help you. 🙂

Minute 25:00, for Pa4, ka2 = 0.26 but i mentioned 0.33. but the actual value of Pa4 is correct, 35.2. sorry. it's my bad.
Great effort, but you took forever solving it. This can be solved and explained in 5 minutes max.

For Pa4 you should use 0.26 for ka2 instead of 0.33. I think it's your typo because the result was correct.
yes you are right.. ka2 = 0.26. did mention earlier... btw, tq for mention it. it's my bad...

Madam,is it okay if I use the scale 1cm=2m for the slope?
Jade , it is going to be a small slope. Might difficult to measure b, h, α etc. If 2cm = 1m is better
