      Exactly. It’s nonsense and should be stopped. They are scaring the living daylights out of some people. Another one that makes me mad is about how anyone can become a mind blowing guitarist by learning 5 simple chords. In a few weeks you’ll be dropping jaws and stunning people with your guitar skills. I take personal offense to that one too because I’m a guitarist, and it took me years to be able to play at just a basic blues/rock and roll level, and many more years to get to the advanced level of playing complex progressive stuff, jazz chords, exotic scales, etc. It infuriates me!

    My beltone hearing aids cost me $8,000 and were blasting my ears with extreme high pitched sound for years. It took me writing the company to get a replacement pair, because my audiologist dragged his feet the whole way. My replacement pair died after one year. The bose system works much better. I have control over the hearing aid, not an audiologist who may or may not be competent. The beltone product is guaranteed for 5 years. If I were to buy a new set of bose hearing aids every year for five years, I would still be $3,000 plus ahead of the beltone product. As for, you don't know if you have hearing loss, if you say "what?* a lot. You have hearing loss. As for your audiologist figuring out if you have medical issues, they are not medical doctors. Mine couldn't even determine that I had one of the hearing aid rubber pieces stuck in my ear 7ntil my ear was massively infected and I went to a ready care. You have pains in your ear, go to a medical doctor. You have hearing loss, go to bose and save yourself $7,000

Great blue tooth feature and individually level controlled. Still not satisfied after 3 visits to Ardilogist. More $ for each adjustment. I am glad I found this self tuned solution which I have been looking for years. Not too costly to try. Hope it works for me.

      Thanks for your post Graham. I'd direct you back to the Bose website for the specific questions you are asking. Regarding your question about whether they are appropriate for a diagnosed moderate hearing loss, you are better off being fit and cared for by a Doctor of Audiology as this solution, or anything that is more DIY will not provide enough power to give you back all the sounds you are missing.

    My goodness, this nice lady's discussion is obviously biased against the product she is showing. I am trying out the Bose Sound Control hearing aid now, and it is very easy to adjust the sound to my liking, unlike the other product I am trying - a professionally fit $6500 hearing aid. They both sound equally good. True, the use of batteries is a nuisance, but for the extra $5600 I can get over the nuisance. The battery door is not difficult to open and close as the speaker says. After an hour of fitting for the $6500 ones, at home now I would like the left ear to be a little softer and the bass to be quite a bit higher . With the Bose, I can control that myself. With the professionally fit ones, I will have to spend a few hours getting the audiologist to do it, and hope she does not tell me I should not do that, just to "get used to it". I just cannot justify spending that extra $3400 ( my insurance will cover some of the cost ). I could have had a very fancy camera or laptop or two flagship phones for that. Or -- donated some of the money saved to people who cannot afford any hearing aid.

    • @krellman7
      @krellman7 2 роки тому

      I agree with you 100%. She also indicates an issue with wax buildup and says it can’t be corrected. She is wrong. Bose does sell a waxguard kit for $10.00. She also bashed the Bose Hearing Screener on their website. She neglected to mention that using Apple AirPods to to take the test is in fact using earbuds that are not calibrated for hearing tests. When you go to an audiologist they are using calibrated headphones to perform your hearing test. Could you imagine going to an audiologist and have them use AirPods to test your ears…..LOL. Some of these videos are laughable.

    I've researched this subject a lot as I need hearing aids and can't afford to get "Real" ones, my question is, How much is something comparable to these? Or What can I purchase from you in this price range? I've searched high and low and even used hearing aids online that you don't know anything about including if they work are a few hundred dollars. Then ad fitting and programming and I am sure it would be even more. I will also ask this, if I purchased a set of used hearing aids online, can I bring them to your practice and have them fit to my needs and if so, approximately how much am I looking at spending? Will it be $100.00 or closer to a thousand? I'm in NJ and have insurance that is good, but does not cover anything hearing aid related. These Bose hearing aids seem a lot better than the olive pro amplified things I am currently regretting! Thanks

      I wish you luck in finding a hearing aid ( or assist ) that will work for you. I have tried a few of the ones in the $300 - $600 range. Most of them amplify the sound well, but the ones I tried do not have a good smartphone control. And I don't want to fiddle with tiny buttons on the aid. So I have tried the Bose Hearphones and they are fantastic. They reproduce the external sound very accurately and the smartphone control really works. Their downfall is the form factor, they are attached to a clunky neck loop. I am hoping Bose will continue to improve on their aids. They have been the master at sound technology.

    Bose Sound Control is a start but far from a true hearing aid; as a long time Bose customer, I look forward to future, improved products. Your comments regarding the hearing test are interesing. I have moderate to mildly severe hearing loss at higher frequencies, but Bose's screener identified my hearing loss as mild to moderate...interesting as that is their aid's target audience. I did try them but found them to be only a slight help and their app adjustments to be very limited. As compared to a less costly offering($350 BeHear Access via Amazon) they fell short.

    It's clear that you and other audiologists are threatened by the advent of affordable, over the counter hearing aids. Hearing aids as currently prescribed are one of the world's great, all-time rip-offs. You've controlled the market for ages, and it's about time someone disrupted your business model! One reason that so many people don't get hearing aids is that they don't want to spend thousands of dollars for a product that probably costs ten dollars to manufacture. Yes, the research and development that go into creating a product have value, and the expertise that an audiologist can bring to the table also has value. But - surprise! - not everyone needs (or can afford) more than a set of basic hearing aids. Some people just need a little boost, or a little balance, or a little treble, or some combination of those things. For those with less complicated hearing loss, this product may be perfect. Certainly the Bose product is not for everyone, and Bose do not claim that it is. In my case, I've went to an audiologist after suffering hearing loss from chemotherapy. She produced a graph just like the one you held up in this video. It clearly shows that my hearing loss is linear, starting with the mid-range and tapering off towards high frequencies. Clearly, I don't need the equivalent of a 12-band equalizer to improve my hearing (although I would love that level of control). The Bose hearing aids should do it for me. And after spending a small fortune to treat my cancer, I don't care to spend thousands more to have my hearing aids "professionally" fitted. We're not all idiots out here. What if I'm wrong? What if I'm not satisfied with the Bose hearing aids, or can't get them to fit properly? Guess what? I can still see an audiologist. In any event, I have ninety days to evaluate the Bose hearing aids, and I can return them for a full refund if I so choose. I wonder (seriously - I don't know) if your clients are offered the option of a full refund in that same time span? The Bose hearing aids just became available in California, where I live. I'll be ordering them next week.

    Technically speaking, what is the physical technical differences as regards amplification, and processing, and sound quality regardless of the need for custom tuning. I know Oticon has moved to a different approach with AI, and neural nets, but what is the technical specs of Bose vs other manufacturers? The advantages of OTC hearing aids over traditional channels is cost, and as you have mentioned can be beneficial if accompanied by a hearing test/physical exam. I think in the correct model this could be beneficial to many people with mild/moderate loss, and even be good business for Doctors of Audiology who can provide telehealth services to a far larger volume of consumers. Win-win. Also Apple and Google are on the way too it seems and their research capabilities far exceed that of the largest hearing aid companies so surely we can see massive technical advances in the future. For examples googles 'project wolverine' Thanks for the video. Very well put together.

    • @hearingdoctors
      @hearingdoctors 3 роки тому

      Bose doesn't share their technical differences online but rather keep the information available for customers very "top level" to highlight that a DIY version is the same as a "traditional" hearing aid. I can say with certainty that any OTC hearing aid that is programmed by the wearer is not the same as a "traditional" hearing aid. When I've performed aided testing on patients in a soundproof booth with OTC hearing aids including Eargo and the Hearing Assist device, there was no measurable improvement in their hearing when listening in noise. That said, I do believe that everyone who needs help with their hearing should have access to some type of hearing solution. The fact that Google and Apple are also going to be offering devices is exciting for many people who otherwise would continue to put off addressing their hearing issues. I just think it's important that people understand that despite sophisticated marketing efforts by these companies, a DIY hearing aid is not a "traditional" hearing aid.

    i'm 51 and have been celebrated for my audio dsp programming for a few decades. seven years ago i received an inner ear infection i have been unable to clear with any method, constant H2O2, essential oils like neem and black seed. i currently work with a chainsaw and have infected resonant cavities that self oscillate and sound like a bus is parked next to me all day all night. if i pinch my nose and can open my ears by blowing, i can hear about 3k to 16k, which informs me my ears have closed as if in constant shock response from filling constantly with fluid (glug glug, involuntary kick drum sounds). once they close up i'd guess i max around 6kHz lately. this to me is a surprise, and i wonder how many persons "lose" their hearing more from this kind of "shock" closing than actual loss of spectral acuity. obviously, using a chainsaw is about as lucrative as making free software. fees for two audiologist visits would cost more than i have free in a year, and will never, ever happen, in this lifetime, because maintaining my mother's house will always come first. can someone give me some better advice than stick my finger in my ear and pump?
