That's normal, it's the automatic shutoff switch. You can try adjusting the governor, it could be running at to many rpms. I just ignore the backfire because mine has had the governor removed.

It could be the governor cable, mine had a similar problem when I bought it. If that isn't it I'd check the reed valves, they're under the carb.

This one is a 2 cycle so the oil is in the gas. Ezgo made a 4 cycle the same year as this one. You change the oil on that one basically the same as anything else. There's a oil plug on the bottom of the engine, kinda hard to see the plug if I remember right. I don't think they have a oil filter on these early ezgo's.

@@badhat1973 I took engine out and i see no oil plug just the bolts that hold case together and the 2 that hold fuel pump. so no oil change it is a 2 cycle it uses oil on gas. My cart and engine look the same as your. Thank you for the help .

or possibly your starter belt could need to be tightened drive belt should be loose and starter belt should be pretty decently tight but I'm thinking crankshaft seals read lots of threads about this over the years and this 85% of the time is the issue

I had a old ezgo that did the same thing. Drove me nuts for awhile trying to figure it out. Turned out the little engine had low compression. Why it would run fine in reverse but had no power in forward I have no idea, but a new piston had it back running fine.

I had the same problem. It was the flywheel key, easy enough to fix. I get most of my parts off Amazon.

So....ya think someone who works for a living shouldn't be allowed to own even a worn out Cadillac. Interesting, either you think junkie old Cadillacs are way more special than they are, or you don't think much of the labor of working Man. Either way, kinda says more about you than you wanna say in public.

I'd check to see if it has compression. Turn it over by hand, if it spins with no resistance then the engine probably needs rebuilt. If it has resistance then it's probably the carburetor, carburetors are cheap online so for most people it's probably easier to just replace it rather than clean the carburetor.

Good luck. They're pretty easy to fix and parts are relatively cheap.

It's a golf cart, but I actually considered building a pull behind lawn mower for if once. Golf carts can pull a heavy trailer but it can wear out the belt. The largest trailer I've pulled with it was 18 feet long and was loaded with furniture.

We don't have a smog check here in Georgia. One of the nice things about Georgia 🙂.

It won’t pass smog they will tell you to drive 30-50 mile and bring it back so the computer wakes up by that time engine lights comes back on unless mickymouse smog it lol

Yes, it definitely wasn't well edited. I've gotten a little better with that, I should have edited everything into one video. And I was trying to use a smartphone with full memory, which wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done lol. I couldn't figure out why the cellphone camera kept cutting off. It's pretty bad when you get outsmarted by a smartphone lol.🤣

My pt cruiser has more miles on it than that. It has nearly 300.000 and still purrs like a kitten.

It's flopping whether I want it to or not. Disney Star Wars will only be remembered because of how bad it is, there isn't going to be a fandom in 20 years. Personally I'd be a happy man if Disney went out of business, but I'll settle for them taking a big enough of a financial hit that they think twice about pulling this again. But either way they've lost mine and millions of people's business and they have no one else to blame except their self's.

Oh and look up some of the Expanded Universe novels when you ain't busy making UA-cam comments you might find your self surprised by how good it is, at least compared to what we're getting from Disney.
