“Mike Casey’s” that I heard from Peadar O’Loughlin and Meave Donnelly’s album “The Thing Itself” - their swing and just tasteful playing is really astounding. It’s known by a bunch of names… one of which is “I Wish I Never Saw You”. I learned it on fiddle and then banjo and I just restrung my Gibson A mandolin and put new tuners on it. Boy, what a wonderful mandolin for being 102 years old. You're playing is very good, so there's no need to apologise 😆. The Clareen Oyster is a good banjo. I have one myself. I prefer the nickel strings. My advice would be to try the Puretone banjo strings in a slightly thicker gauge. I find it unfortunate that Clareen have increased their prices on banjos so much. I guess when Dave Boyle (RIP) was still making banjos it kept prices more competitive. I also find Tom is a gentleman who is interested in the customer, their banjo and their needs while Fintan, nice guy and all but is more interested in the business side of things.

Thanks for posting all these videos, they're an awesome resource for those of us trying to learn. Playing these tunes "straight" based on the basic tabs found online gives such a very basic rendition, so seeing your modifications & ornamentation is a huge help when working toward a properly stylized version of the tune. As a beginner, I don't have instincts yet to independently figure out where and how to add/change/ornament.
