This was the Mongolians who took over from the 4 of us who physically carried the casualty down from approx. 10,000ft on a glacier with a broken leg to the waiting Mongolian guides who then lowered her down as in this video while secured in a cocoon stretch and roped up.
Too far away for a chopper to get to us quickly enough, she was then secured to a kazach horsemans horse and carefully taken approx. 4 hours on a horse out of the this remote valley to a waiting 4x4 to be driven approx. 7 hours to the nearest town with an airport.
Scary day when it happened as I was right behind her when a huge boulder rolled onto her leg, I really did think she was dead. But I was so proud of the entire team when we finally got her down and the Mongolians could get her safely to hospital. A fantastic professional effort by all concerned.
