Not a fan of the safety wire job at 13:39. The wire should wrap around each nut, holding it from loosening up. As shown in the video, that wire will merely catch the loose nut from falling off -- NOT keep it torqued tight.
Vw beetle engine lol
actually the magic is NOT given just by the two materials but to the resine that is used for sticking them together and then hardened with a catalyst that forms more complex polymers
Nice video, it helped me in school. 10/10
excellent video thanks for showing us
Ladies and Gentlemen, you just watched a $50,000.00 engine build. Yes, this thing actually costs that much.
Very good lesson. Thank you guys so much from all side of knowledge. Hope you can share more information.
My left ear is well educated...
Love the tie under the coveralls ! Great video lesson.
The mechanics are great....robust and over built. Flyers do have the option of using electronic/magneto replacement ignition.
I been using Oxyacetylene equipment 21 years and must note one safety tip, ALWAYS use reverse flow check valves and flashback arrestors if you're torch don't have them you can purchase them at the welding supply.
Thanks for the video

Filmed at Mattituck Engine Shop, I worked there many years ago, Sadly the shop and all the buildings are gone but the airport is still there. Really well made video, Thanks!
Fuck you youtube,. I will NOT buy form your advertisers for wasting my time. Asshole.
I enjoyed watching this tape.
Too bad the sound is only in left channel. Next it would be ideal to convert the track in mono 25:27 "it could be eclipse?" "nah. nice try tho" lol 1979 blooper
Thank you Sir
Hi great tip. Take a break, and return with a fresh set of eyes.
great video to understand basics of a recip engine.
Old, crappy engines that cannot burn regular fuels...unsafe at any speed.
Why does he think I have a knowledgeable friend to check my work. I don't have any friends as it is and now I need a knowledgeable one at that.
12:45 very good description of shut down, so many weldors get bent out of shape if you mess with their settings.... I guess they are not smart enough to remember or record the settings for future use......and they would rather have damage done to their regulators instead of properly shutting them down not to mention the possibility of having a accident ....
6:40 he states the cylinder needs to be opened slowly to prevent damage to the regulator, it is also important to slowly open the cylinder to prevent Regulator Blow Out, where the friction and heat of the gas causes the regulator blow out with tremendous pressure and explosive force and flame......that is why you never stand in front or behind the regulator, only to the side, preferably with the valve between you and the regulator.....look up RBO on the internet, there are some good videos showing the results of opening the oxygen valve to fast....
5:20....states that putting a hose on a regulator with something in the hose could let that object be blown into regulator....how could that happen, as the regulator does not suck material in from the hose, it only allows pressure into hose...
Ain’t the Left half at 10:45 That would be the right crankcase have that is being fitted
Using ivory soap for that leak check??
As someone who’s rebuilt numerous engines over the years, this threw me through a loop. I only searched for it because I’m a pilot and wanted to understand it deeper
That crank looks rough. Not supposed to touch the journals or bearings. Hmmmm ??
I know these engines are really reliable but my god is this ancient technology…I mean flat head screw…really!?!
This video is gold🙏
Too old of technology. Seems like school 60 years ago. Today animation could add so much more to the understanding of what is happening. This puts me to sleep.
Three main bearings?? I'm sorry, but this is 19th century technology. And these archaic lumps sell for how much?
Thank you! Sir, 🙏👌
1950 BS. Just ditch it. It is dangerous. Great grandfathers tech.
It's very very nice to learn new skills and useful
Oldie but a goodie...as annoying as the '70s' educational video voice sounds😆 ..they did a great job.i understand more then some of the videos of todaytoday
0-235 front stud broke off at the nut dumping oil out.. I had seen oil pressure dropping into the yellow arc on throttle back for some weeks, engine ran normal, no vibration. I put some 100w in and pressure sort of restored. Engine stripped, centre bearing had spun. Can't see why unless pump or regulator fault. Camshaft bearing seat had also cracked in middle.
I wish i could rebuild it, but got to be sent off.

Holy crap. I'm 5 seconds in and there's Wendall Anschutz (spelling?) the old Kansas city news anchor from when I was a kid. I remember that blue plane of his. My brother used to mow the grass around his hangar. Nice guy.
Not wearing gloves ! bad idea when working with resin systems .
That doesn’t seem hard at all
Thanks alot for the. quick lesson
Thank you so much for making this available! This is by far the best and most complete video course I've seen on this subject. I'm a few months into teaching myself how to weld with OA. I've watched and studied these 2 videos beginning to end maybe 15-20 times, and when I'm out practicing my welds, the voices of these two guys are in my head. I've really concentrated on mastering to the best of my ability the skills in the order presented, and it's paying off. The student/master Q and A thing dates back to Socrates, and is a classic, time proven way of presenting material in a logical fashion.
Interesting. I've always wondered what the engine is like internally. Yes, I have learned how it works and its components, but always from an external perspective. Now everything is making more sense. Thanks!
My only problem is he said mark with a pencil 5:40 graphite with any metal is bad
I getting a torch , for my art mostly , the torch is more like the light saber of the jet I fighters. Also, I not have anywhere to plug into in the place I need to work , and not good dry surface to work on. Plus so many things can break on arch welders and plasma cutters , especially the lower cost machines. The oxyacetylene torch is more earthy and meditative.
Quite a lot of pressure rebuilding these isn’t there? It’s not a “have a few beers whilst doing it” situation like you can with cars.
Very good
Does changing the shape of the edge (addressing the repair) have any tangible effect on performance?
