    Did you by chance try it in dolly or hover mode going up a ski lift? curious if that would work. Also, how was the battery life on the slopes? I'm guessing a little less than advertised due to the cold

    • @ziggysskifaris7592
      @ziggysskifaris7592 11 місяців тому

      No I didn't. I wouldn't be game to try it on a lift. Firstly because if something goes wrong it would be hard to retrieve. Second, I'd suggest you stay away from other people who tend to be Karens. I endeavour to try Dolly mode at the snow however from testing on my scooter the speed would need to be even slower. Perhaps a gentle trail. I will be going to Canada in Mid January. I dare say that I'll be mainly capturing the scenery in 360 mode. Unfortunately I doubt this drone will have the speed on most runs to follow me. If there's a nice vista I'll get it out on a gentle slope. Hopefully the next hover x2 will have a sports mode.

      I didn't get to test the Dolly Track at the snow but I did test it while riding my scooter. Dolly Track is a bit like backing a trailer. If it starts to go too far to one side it's like a trailer that "Jack knifes" then it ends up following you. Which does look pretty cool but you don't really have much precise control over it. Next time I go skiing in Jan 2024 I will try the Dolly Track mode.

    • @joejacobsen6874

    • @ziggysskifaris7592

      It flies indoors fine but it didn't seem to like going upstairs in Dolly Track mode. I got it to Hover in one place and I walked around a big circle. I also got it to do an orbit around me. It came close to a wall but didn't hit it. Sorry, I wasn't game to go through a doorway. My guess is if you walk straight through a doorway (and the drone is set on a low enough setting) it would probably go through a follow you but if you were to go through and change directions, I'd say it would lose you and stop tracking. Hope that helps.

      Cheers @unclemike1206 glad I amused you. Yeah, I've been wanting a simple to operate follow me drone to document my skiing. The aim is to get a third person view of me skiing when I'm on my own. I've done heaps of POV helmet or goggle cam footage. We're nearly there and hopefully with some tweeks the next upgrade version will satisfy. Meanwhile, just gotta go slow and get someone to be a "spotter" with a comms radio to follow and retrieve the drone when it stops tracking. In summer I'll be giving it a go on my mountain bike.

    • @pushnpow
      @pushnpow 3 місяці тому

      I am starting the think it’s the elevation change that confuses the drone. Most people skiing with them seem to get lost when they drop down a slope, maybe it loses you as you drop below it’s idea of level ground, considering it has a height setting and no GPS, If you drop below a certain height it probably can’t drop any lower because it thinks the ground level is above you, so it stops tracking.

The camera has a front 180deg lense and rear 180deg lens and the software "knits" it together. When editing you select a part of the image to be in the centre of the shot. The stick is basically a black dot but because my clothing is black, it can't really be seen.
