The lyrics are very repetitive with very minor differences. I saw it twice in London and they both had difficulty sorting out which chorus of Stalemate they were on. For someone who probably had a week to learn and rehearse the material he did great. I’m sure if this went to full production he’ll get it down, but I’ve seen some of the most seasoned broadway artists flub a lyric even though they’ve been in the show for over a year

@00rabbit7 The lyrics are more different than you're suggesting. But furthermore they had plenty of rehearsal time (a couple of weeks from what I understand). Then they had a further 2.5 weeks after the Palladium, before opening at the Lyric. It's utterly absurd for a performer to not know his lines to this extent. As you mentioned, Stalemate was a lyrical shambles every night as well, and Dean messed up The Game Begins on opening night as well as the dialogue prior to the song. It's literally his job to learn it and completely unacceptable that he did not do so. I know directors who have claimed to blacklist performers for this. Granted these directors usually went back on this later. A voice like Dean's will sadly allow him to get away with it. I hope he takes his jobs more seriously in future. I'd love to see him on stage again.

@00rabbit7 pretty much this so much as to why I didn't mention it. Being a concert run only lasting a few days each of the two runs they had very little rehearsal time. (Much less than any show that even has a limited run of months) then Dean went back to The King & I tour before flying off to NY for a weekend to do this singular performance of it. The biggest music artist who play large arenas even have their lyrics on monitors ffs. Wildhorn is know for some tongue twisting lyrics on his shows (ex "I Will Prevail" from Wonderland is a doozy) so a few hiccups should be expected. If they get an extended run it will be drilled in harder with less flubs.
