Mixed Emotions - Byredo | Review

Mixed Emotions is a scent designed to reflect the tumultuous nature of our times-a distillation of highs and lows, mirroring unstable realities and a world in flux. Comforting notes of maté and the sharp sweetness of cassis sit among wooden notes; the reassuring scent of black tea colliding with violet leaf synthetics. A refreshing reminder that it is okay to not be okay. Fragrance notes Maté, ...

your reviews are capitvating
Wow what a compliment!! Haha thank you!
I have a bottle of Silver Mountain Water. I like it. But Bois du Portugal is my favorite from Creed. And classic Creed - that is, Creeds including Viking and older - is my favorite house.
Bois is a classic I feel I can’t quite get away with it but wow what a bomb, so distinguished and unique. I own Viking and am obsessed with it, they really do some amazing stuff
Even Viking cologne gets my tick of approval. Thanks for watching!
Love this fragrance.
Glad you like it! Flying was my favourite of the 3 :)
What is very annoying is there are two species of sandalwood grown in Australia. The ACTUAL native Australian sandalwood Santalum Spicatum. Then the imported traditional Indian sandalwood that everyone commonly knows as sandalwood Santalum Album because the market needed it grown in other areas because it was over harvested in India. The problem, they both get called Austrialian sandalwood a lot of the time. They smell pretty different. The Album is more expensive it has the musky pungent smell. But the thing is I, like other people really like the actual Australian sandalwood because it doesn't have the musky smell it almost has a clean fresh smell more suited to a younger person and it has a more intense woody smell.
Very informative, thank you so much for the insight!!
I bought it because it smells amazing nice and fresh with the top notes. But made a big mistake never waited for the dry down. The base that is left after like 15 minutes unfortunately quite literally smells EXACTLY and I mean EXACTLY like my long gone 90 year old grandmas expensive hand lotion or skincare she would use back in the early 2000's. Going by the notes it's either Petitgrain or Galbanum not familiar with either. That is the problem with a company like Creed that has been around since the stone age, they can use really dated scents in their formulations. So this was a total turn off for me. It's unfortunate because it smells very nice at first. The duration on this scent is nuts too. Smelled like old grammy for days.
Such a shame to hear! Considering it does have a high concentration of raw naturals ingredients its very prone to smelling different on everyone. personally, i cant wear too many natural florals as they smell like old soap on me! Citruses do really well though, its mostly these 2 categories which will present the largest differentiation factor based on your skin type dry/oily acidic/alkaline.
It really smells great
So addicting!
Love your reviews but the opening to this is hyperbole worthy of Creed themselves 😅
Hahahah fair call, I’m deffs over the brand now and wouldn’t buy another bottle of anything from them. 😂
Just ordered a sample of this yesterday after smelling armafs sillage a couple weeks ago, randomly wore CK one yesterday and swear it must have been very similar to sillage, will watch your vid tomorrow cheers
Thanks Chief! For an interpretation of SMW, I feel Sillage will hit it on the mark for many, there are a lot of subtleties as you'd expect between the two and I may do a comparison video one day! I briefly mention owning Sillage in the vid but even being new to fragrances at the time it didn't quite capture my attention the same way SMW did. Not to mention over the years there have been minor changes with some of Creed's formulas (as natural ingredients will change seasonally with potency ect). Sillage to me however is definitely closer to SMW than Club De Nuit is to Aventus.
Happy New years! Due to some major news/changes in my personal life which I'll share in soon time, I'll be taking January off and starting season 3 In Feburary.
What a treat for New Year’s Eve, a lovely long video! Hope the editing wasn’t too arduous and glad to see the channel doing so well
Much appreciated @TheLadyCleo 😁It wasn't too bad until I realized I forgot to turn my floodlight hence the visual difference compared to my other videos hahah. Almost made me want to reshoot the 40mins of filming for this one. Thank you so much for watching, have a Happy New Year!!
✌️
😎🤘
Wrapping up the season final with the scent that changed it all for me, Silver Mountain Water, my first ever niche purchase. This is such a sentimental fragrance for me, without it, my journey would have never begun. In 2024 I've grown my views by 148% and subscriber count exactly by 100%. + What a way to finish the year with December being my most viewed month yet! Thank you to everyone who has supported the channel over the past few years ☺
Wow, another niche scent i was intrested in. Keep it up guy. Try reviewing boy smells, I get all my 'review' content from youtube and theres nobody covering thier scents which are super good.
Oooo I have had my nose on them before but it's been probably year, I'll have to see where i can find them again as a local store took them off the shelves. They were really distinct though from memory!
love the nods to Silent Hill in your review! Still debating on pulling the trigger on this one. great review!
Haahah thank you, i draw a lot of inspiration from the atmosphere. let me know if you end up getting it and thanks for the kind words :)
Your skin is glowing man
Thank you!!!!
It doesn't seem to last very long on me or my nose can't distinguish the scent after a while. What about you?
Killian has always been around average for me, I blind bought black phantom and that was a huge disappointment as far as performance is concerned. Smoking hot was definitely better than the rest but not by much unfortunately!
@ Can you recommend me powdery men's perfumes? Both niche and designer are fine.
@@kuzeydursun7805 Most favourite powdery fragrance of all time is Labdanum 18 by Le Labo, its deep and resinous with a musky woody dry down. Its mysterious yet sexy and highly recommend it!
OMG nobody can understand your english
First I've ever heard that, I assume you may be less proficient in English?
@@FragranceFiend i assume that you make videos for everyone in the world. Do we all have to be fluent british or american to undestand what you say?
@@YanPapad I assume you're referring to my Australian Accent?
Seriously u had to use zesty
It’s accurate by the original definition, modern vocabulary has tainted the word and can’t think of an alternative to describe an aggressive citrus
2/10? this lasts all day on me and people would walk after me to ask me what I'm wearing
When did you buy it
Great review! I blind bought this frag and I'm very happy that I did it. Gorgeous scent for warm weather. I had the impression that your video is a bit faster than usual.
Thanks heaps! I usually try to stick to about 5 mins but sometimes people ask me to speed up/slow down, and it’s hard to gauge what content works for everyone at times so I do what feels natural when I’m filming and cut a lot of content out. I usually spend 20-25 mins filming per video! And cut it to get to all the main points :)
But yeah this is just such a refined and natural smelling citrus scent!!
Thanks for comparing it to Poets of Berlin. They’re by the same nose so I had just assumed they were super similar.
I appreciate your video, but I do find it a bit of an inconvenience due to me being in the US and expecting that you had a US "formulation"
Is this EDT or parfum?
EDT but lasts forever, they use the word "intense" after that so i assume its just below EDP %
Great review!
Thanks for watching, got 1 more Creed review coming at the end of the year!! 😊
so the new clear bottle just isnt worth it in your opinion?
Not at all unfortunately, completely different DNA altogether. They should just rename it at this point too.
@@FragranceFiend oh ok thanks was thinking of getting it as its on sale at cw but i guess ill just skip it cheers
@@OnAeeir definitely let yourself be the judge of it too! if you like it deffs go for it, it may not be what it once was but i wouldn't say there's anything too subjectively wrong with it. it is a pretty good discount though! 😁
@@FragranceFiend i dont live that close to a chemist warehouse so i was gonna have to blind buy it online but if it doesnt even really smell like fierce anymore then idk
@@OnAeeir ohhh okay, sorry to hear, id probably pass on it then i guess 🤔
Wtf is wrong with your mouth? You sound weird. 🔥
Hi. Very helpful and thorough review. I’m not sure if it’s the violet leaf or with the v.l. And suede combo, but as much as I wanted /tried to like Fahrenheit Parfum and EDT, the notes come off as “bug spray” to my nose. Have a great day.
Agreed, very accurate description now that i thinbk about it! and thank you so much for your kind words, truly means a lot. 🙂
Always good to have a "negative control" in any series of experiments 🙃, and to have a chance to calibrate the scale with a few scores well below the median. Looking forward to your next videos on some of the more exceptional scents. (Speaking of which, I sampled the four new-ish Montblanc fragrances in store today. The black one and the patchouli are rather good... if you enjoy darker scents.)
Unfortunately ive had a bit of a bad run with first impressions as of late haha! thank you so much for watching though, ill deffs have to get my nose on those by the sounds of it!!!
Unfortunately the product doesn't match the marketing in my opinion... I have a full sized bottle of Witchy Woo and I'm really not keen on it. Will probably end up selling it.
After smelling the rest of the lineup, they've become a big flop to my nose unfortunately!
This is my signature. It is fruity with some smoky and rougher vibes which is exactly what i was searching for. Something nice and unique
So glad you like it! Definitely unique which is what I appreciate about it most!
It is my favorite perfume. Problem it does not last so I had to find clones.
That’s fair! I’ve rarely gotten my nose on recent batches, what clones would you suggest?
@@FragranceFiend Rasasi Egra hands down lasts forever on clothes and it's like 7 hours on skin longest lasting of GIT clones.
@@LequipeTechnique not available locally to me sadly, I'll have to track it down one day!
@@LequipeTechnique Sounds incredible, thanks so much for the insight!
To me it last at least 7-8 hours
Lavande 31 is my favorite fragrance!
I’ve grown to it even more in recent months and it’s definitely climbed up my list!
Ive just added the first byredo fragrance to my sample cart, gypsy water, the name got me somehow, plus i seen it has Inscence and the only 2 fragrances i no that smell like Inscence are bdc edt and profumo and they are nice
Congrats!! Hope you like it :)
How much does a 50ml cost?
$384 AUD 😄
@@FragranceFiendthank you
My new favorite is MFK Gran Soir. As an uber driver it gets the most compliments as well as creed Centaurus.
I was pleasantly surprised with Centaurus!! An impressive left turn from the brand but definitely in the right direction. May have to get it eventually 👌🏻
I have Naxos, love it. Just blind bought Guerlain’s Lhomme I’deal Parfum. Not many reviews on it but the notes sound good. Website for guerlain pretty basic and weak but prices not bad.
Yeah unfortunately even getting my nose in Geurlan here is hard enough, and the selection is incredibly small. Let me know what you think!
I bought this one in the largest size when it came out. Never smelled like the stores in the mall, is very strong, only did one spray when I wore it. Still have it and now it’s a classic apparently. It was $350 for 200ML. Sadly I lost part of my sense of smell from covid. Just sprayed it, smells like leather…
Wow that’s incredible, I’d love to know really how different it is from the current batches. Apparently there are some clones of the original formulation but I’ve never been impressed by them. Really just want them to release the original DNA again.
Sorry about the loss of your sense of smell, Hope it fully recovers again one day!
Love it, lasts a long time, pretty sweet
One of my favorites as an uber driver it’s get me “your car smells good”. Cause i’m ugly…
Good review with great energy. Earned a sub
Thanks so much, appreciated 😊
Quality vids, fellah. Not too long and straight to the headlines, unlike a lot of other reviewers who just drone on and drift off point. Subscribed!
Thanks so much! Yeah that became the inspiration behind creating the channel, I loved watching reviews but just grew so tired of them that they seemed more about getting clicks, promoting certain brands (or being paid to), getting to the 10min mark to get on the algorithm ect. I just wanna give my humble 2 cents to the right people without screaming hyper beast mode panty dropper every 5 seconds. Much appreciated!
great review!
Thanks Christopher! Will be reviewing the rest of TLY lineup individually soon too 😄
Thanks you. I need something as strong as TF Tobacco Vanille.
Recently got 125ml for 25$ batch 6/2024 for the money it's absolutely worth it one of the best in this price range.
That’s actually insane!!! So good. I just filmed a review of Halloween Mystery? Have you tried that one yet?
@@FragranceFiend No not yet, however after getting X want to try them all. I see your Mystery review is upcoming on my yt feed. Can't wait for that one! Love unique style of your channel, def deserve way more views and subs.
@@HOTSPEEDMike Thank you so much for the kind words! really does mean a lot :) its definitely been a slower than expected climb, i saw a fragrance channel created a week ago that already has 100 subs (which took me about half a year), others for a few months have thousands. I like having a small community but my style probs doesnt fit as well into the algorithm or perhaps other youtubers get boosted since so many are paid to promote certain companies haha. Glad you liked X, Mystery doesn't beat it unfortunately!
Sheesh
😝
my favorite le labo by far, my sample laaaaaasted for ages, 12+hours on 1 spray
Love to hear it!! it’s a very impressively structured fragrance despite it not being something I’d usually wear 😊
this and poivre 23 are amazing ambers! good for winter
I've been wanting to try this one!!!
Would love to hear thoughts on the Neroli one.
definitely keen to do a review on that! I think it’s my second favourite floral from Le labo, first being fleur d’oranger
