Orfeo summons up all his creative genius and sings a five-verse aria accompanied by various instruments ('Possente spirto'), first claiming that, since Euricide is his heart and is dead, he cannot be alive, and by implication should be allowed in the boat. Hello Jonathan, I am studying this whole song cycle and I love your performance with it! Congratulations for getting to perform it with a symphony orchestra. I am a baritone, too, and I admire how easily you shape your high F#'s, G's, and the G# at the end. Are you using head voice for them? Any tips for those high areas? Thank you!
+Drworm89 Hi there, thanks for your interest. It's not head voice, but rather a kind of 'voix mixte' - you need lots of air support under it and reduce the sound to the thin edge of the folds. It takes quite a few years of practice to get it to work properly though! These are tough songs, but a great technical workout/challenge, as well as wonderful music. Good luck with your singing!

A truthful and moving performance of one of the great moments in opera.
I am content with all others except for the fact that the people in white standing behind Orfeo are very, very distracting. They have too much light shone on them, and the lighting is harsh, which attracts people's attention to the harsh shadows cast behind them.
Fantastic character and such admirable control over the coloratura! Bravo!

Although I prefer the orchestrated version, I must say that this was the best performance of the piano version I could ever imagine. Your voice is incredibly well suited for that dry, almost objective piano sound. You both are really telling a story there. A pity this doesn't get more attention though ...
