Click on your health bar when in your inventory, it will bring up your stats menu.

One really big thing in Morrowind is that most places may be *technically* scaled to your level, but that doesn't mean you're ready for them. And a lot of areas aren't level scaled at all and are just difficult. There are so many dungeons near starting areas that will wreck your shit even into later levels. Also, once you kill a dark brotherhood assassin, talk to a guard and the attacks will stop. Otherwise it will continue to happen randomly EVERY time you rest. Lastly, the red border is a visual glitch from changing zones right after getting hit. It goes away when you get hit again.

Also, you have booze, they act like potions that grant insane buffs at a small cost. If just attacking an enemy with your weapons, booze like Mazte and Sujamma are really good for that. I wouldn't eat ingredients, as even if you do get an effect from it, it'll only be a small effect.

To add to the "jump everywhere" advice, I would only do this in cities. Out of towns you will often face enemies like Cliff Racers. Also, while going up stairs, spam jump while going forward, you'll get a huge amount of acrobatics xp just doing that (especially in a city like Vivec)

as a Mage, your first "weapon" should be destruction magic. its also worth nothing that Racial Abilities are much stronger in Morrowind, so Dark Elves have 50% Fire resist, and Nords have 50% Shock resist, and 100% Frost resist. Orcs and Bretons both have general resistance to magic, while High Elves are weaker against some magic. its also worth mention that while Magic doesn't regenerate passively like in the later games, you can rest anywhere outside of town, which will restore your Health and Magic for free, as long as there are no enemies nearby. if you are in town, you can only wait like you normally would in the later games.

Morrowind actually requires you to be prepared before you go try even a beginner dungeon. That means a set of armor, a weapon, either healing spells, healing scrolls or healing potions... some basic training with your chosen weapon... This game isn't like the braindead games that followed, Morrowind requires you to actually prepare yourself, and at least in the beginning, if you don't, you will die.

Hi, if you're a new player of Morrowind here's a few tips. Talk to NPCs, they'll have some advices and may give you directions to the locations of your current quests. Be aware of enemies resistance. But, in resume, fire is not very effective agains dunmers, but it is good against undead and beasts (guars, nix hounds, cliff racers, etc). Enchanting is such a quality of life. Even a ring with 1pt of levitation for 12s is enough to let you go places without much trouble. Alchemy is broken, for real. You can loop creating and drinking inteligence potions, to create even more powerful potions, because alchemy scales with your inteligence.

Why choose the slave class??? This is not how you honor the sixth house and the tribe unmourned.

Some things to consider: Jump all the time when moving. It raises agility and acrobatic stats. Super important for mobility later on. Do as much alchemy as you can. Health and mana potions have more accessible ingredients here, plus it's a money printer. Steal any and everything you can and resell it. The theft mechanics in this game are primo.

My dude, please stop spamming attacks, holding the attack for a second will do more damage and will drain your stamina less. If you want to hit more often, your green bar should be full when you start the fight. Your short blade skill is so low so the chance of hitting is also pretty low. I would make a custom class, choosing things you think you'll use instead of picking a base class. You seem to be a very head-on kind of gamer, which doesn't really do well with being a mage, so pick a heavier weapon class like Long Blade or Axe. Honestly, maybe try being a battlemage and choose a race that will align with that (I suggest a Dark Elf or a Breton)
