Star Warrior Chronicles - Shadow Games: Episode 26 - Times Change
4 години тому
It’s been a while, but here we are with the second half (technically there’s only 2/5 left) of the story. In this episode, time has passed since episode 25. Let’s see what everyone’s been up to. Star Warrior Chronicles: Shadow Games Special: Magonia Expedition

I’m sorry this took so long, but I finally finished something I started back in October, lol. Anyway, the continuation of the story finds us with a bridge story where Emma and Brian train on the planet, Magonia. I was molested when I was young and in therapy I recall playing this game so much I never even spoke with the therapist. she still charged my parents, but because I didn't have a Nintendo at home it was the only way I could play. I started going back to my scout leader so I could keep going to therapy and play. this was 2010 so I now know I could have emulated it but it was worth it because I enjoyed it

You keep repeating how easy gen 3 kanto remakes are and its true, but if you do want a challenge, maybe levelling your pokemon to 64 isnt going to give you one? I'd recommend rare candies and level caps, and maybe even no items in battle. Also wtf are you recording? Is it gba?

It’s actually off an emulator as I don’t have the means to record off anything else yet. Also, I tried to do level caps but I keep forgetting what the highest level is. I might try no items next time but keep in mind that all of this is for fun, I’m not taking this stuff seriously

BRAGGING RIGHTS... lol)

@@frankmastergamingproductio1289 it's different, compared to all of the other zeldas, so it stands out (you either love it or hate it), so it's hard to compare it to the other zeldas so, it's more as to whether you like zelda 2 or not, on its own as a game obviously, when you're really struggling at it, you hate it (for the most part), and we all have struggled at it just like you (older generations who played it as a kid/teen/adult when it came out and younger generations trying it for their first time), hating it (and thus getting its "black sheep" rep: figuring out how to cross the riverman in saria to progress the game: finding bagu, and then with death mountain after the passing the riverman in saria, caused a lot of people to rage quit, not being able to figure out how to progress or not being able to progress as it was too hard to do so) once/if, you get better at it, then it becomes much more fun as a game, and you appreciate it's difficulty and difference in game design from all of the other zeldas, but also, if you get too good at it, then it becomes too easy and too quick, making you disappointed in it, not because its a bad game, but you wish it was a much bigger game and even possibly harder too, laughs so, it just depends how much you're struggling at it currently... and also, it is a different type of game, and some people just don't (or do) like the type of game it is, regardless of if the game itself is good or not, otherwise to them ------------ tlrd: personally, I really like the game now (as I'm now good at it), and I did like the game as a kid, it was a cool concept of platforming with the RPG aspect and being a zelda game too, but it was really hard (we know the struggle too, everyone does, as we all had a first time with this game, struggling mightily, lol), and so I didn't like it being so hard, when it was hard for me. But now, it's too easy and too short, so I don't like it again, wishing it was much harder and bigger game (with new stuff that I don't know about and have to figure out how/what to do, as once you know the game and when its much easier, it's not that fun anymore to replay it, wish I could go back to playing/trying this game for the first time, or that it would be expanded bigger and with new stuff in it, and made harder, though not too hard, laughs, I don't want to go back to the uber struggle with it that we've all experienced and hated, lol)

@@redmoonbloodmoon3161 yeah, that makes since. I’d never got the chance to play unto this year actually. I had more experience with link to the past, ocarina of time, Majora’s mask, hell, even the first game. That’s probably why have more mixed feelings about when this all said done. Just a heads up, I’d finished recording the entire game at this point. I say a lot of things I’d like and don’t like with this game, and some of the dislikes are said by emotion. But I’d still say the biggest problem with this game that’s it isn’t beginner friendly. Not that the first game was either, it was called a guide game for a reason. But when a game is about as hard as the first megaman and Castlevania 3, then it’s not a game I recommend (though it is easier than the Lost Levels). But thanks for the insight, when I’d made this channel, that was the thing I was hoping for as I went on. That type of discussion is what I mean.

@@frankmastergamingproductio1289 PS as to my favorite zelda game.. I've only played the earlier ones: zelda 1: The Legend of Zelda (NES) zelda 2: The Adventure of Link (NES) zelda 3: A Link to the Past (SNES) zelda 4: Link's Awakening (GB) zelda 5: Ocarina of Time (N64) (maybe at some point, I'll finish Ocarina of Time, and also try Majora's Mask N64) I am NOT a fan of the 3D dungeons, so Ocarina of Time is eliminated, and likely most newer zelda games after OoT, unless they go back to being 2D, so probably wouldn't like breath of the wild either, if I ever could (have a way of) try/play that... so, for zeldas 1-4, they're all equal, I enjoy them each, in their own uniqueness zelda 1: fun and hard, fun to figure out stuff/secrets (first time playing), but once you know everything, it's not that fun any more and becomes too short/small, but it remains hard... those blue dark nut filled rooms (and a lesser extent, well depending, the blue wizzrobe rooms) and the game-character control-movement, no skill will ever make them any easier... lol, but it remains fun to replay from time to time, regardless zelda 2: different, fun, and hard (initially), fun to figure out stuff/secrets (first time playing), but once you know everything, it's not that fun any more, and once/if you get good at it too, it becomes too easy and too small/short, and again, unlike with the blue dark nuts and to a lesser extent (depending) with the blue wizzrobes, in zelda 1, you can get good enough to make the iron knuckles and etc enemies in zelda 2 easy/easier, but that's just not the case with zelda 1's blue dark nuts and its blue wizzrobes, lol (zelda 1 is harder for me than zelda 2), but it remains fun to replay from time to time, regardless zelda 3: while it is way too easy for my liking, it's a very fun game, and it was a lot of fun trying to figure out stuff/secrets (first time playing), but once you know the game, it's way too small/short, but it remains fun to replay from time to time, regardless zelda 4: it's also a bit different in a few ways from zelda 1 and zelda 3, but it's a lot of fun, and if can remember, it wasn't too hard/challenging in terms of fighting/surviving, and it had some good/fun things/secrets to figure out, just a really good solid game, and arguably its a bit more advanced than zelda 3 (able to jump up vertically, as one example, and off-topic: crystalis for the NES already had this feature too, along with some other stuff like different elemental/damage/sword types, really ahead of its time for RPGs, laughs, not even in zelda 3 could you jump up vertically, only when zelda 4 for the GB, did we get this feature finally)

@@frankmastergamingproductio1289 that's a really good way to describe the game actually, sums up the game really well: it is NOT noob friendly, laughs (some people like exploring and slowly learning more about the game and the world/map and where everything is, while others just want a guide, not wasting time learning/memorizing the world/map and where everything is and etc, maybe it's also generational too, growing up with not having guides vs growing up with guides, but I still think it's ultimately personal taste, and also it depends on the game and/or what/why you're playing the game, sometimes I do want to figure a game on my own out when I'm playing for the first time, but sometimes, I do want a guide as well, just actually getting through the game, experiencing it, and/or for me, perfectionist, liking to collect everything and power game as much as possible... not a good thing when it comes to completing games, lol, wanting the perfect character, stat gains, and etc such stuff, lol)

game basics: ------------- npcs: 1. inside of buildings: hints/clues/etc 2. pacing npcs that come out of buildings (have to wait a few moments for them to come out): spell-quest, life replenish, or mana replenish 3. walking/wandering (moving from, left to right, or, right to left, across the town screen's exits/edges): hints/clues/etc (there's two "monster" npcs in this game, each in a different town, within a building, that are sleeping = "Zzz", well, try "pestering" = talking-to them like ~5 times, with-OUT leaving the building as that resets the counter, to get them to wake up and give their hint/clue) (near end of game, there's even invisible npcs, as well too) --------------- techniques: in addition to every town having a spell to get/learn, there's 2 towns, which you'll also be able to learn techniques (down stab and up stab) from (there will be a building with a knight guy in the basement) -------------- spells: every town has a spell to learn (wizard in basement of building, always involving doing some kind of "fetch quest" first, except for the first town, rauru = east of sleeping zelda palace) to use spells, you must always open up the character window (start button) first, and then select your spell, and then close out of the character window, and press the 'SELECT' button, spells with effects, last until you exit the screen (or die, of course, lol) --------- life/mana: each square of life/mana is 16 units, so if a spell costs 32 units, you need 2 full mana squares to cast it, but be warned, as while the square can graphically look full, it may actually not be full, having less than 16 units in it (such as getting hit by the flying skulls in the dungeons/palaces which drain your mana along with doing damage to you), and thus you being unable to cast the spell you start with 4 life squares the max life squares is 8 (there's 4 life containers to find/get) you start with 4 mana squares the max mana squares is 8 (there's 4 mana containers to find/get) ------------------------- stats: max stats: 8-8-8 // (8 attack, 8 magic, 8 "life"=defense) attack: increases the damage you do with your sword magic: reduces the cost of all spells "life" (defense): reduces the damage you take all stats really are equally important, and especially with first time players, dying is constant, so take the stat you get, never cancel and go for another stat, as you're likely going to game over, and thus lose all of that experience and have no stat gain at all, so just get the stats as they come, as getting stats is the true progression in this game, as with higher stats, it makes it easier if you're struggling to advance within the game -------------- game over: this happens when you lose all of your lives and you'll lose all of your current exp, but everything else is preserved, even keys from dungeons/palaces and quest items, and you also start back at zelda's palace (start of the game) (so long as you properly save your game, before you quit down the game, of course, either using save-load of emulator, or, in-game/console method, of course) -------- items: you get these from the palaces/dungeons (can see them in the character window) ------ quest items: these are for the "fetch quests" of learning/getting spells, and they do NOT show up at all in the character window, but you do have and keep it (the game remembers that you got it, even though it has no indication of having it, aside from going to the quest-spell npc in town, getting access to the spell they give, lol) ----- replenishing life: towns (some towns may not have such an npc though) fairies (as roaming sprite on over-world, or in set locations within dungeons/caves/etc, or in hidden/special tiles on the over-world) the 'life' spell dying (lol) raising your "life" (defense) stat getting a life container ------- replenishing mana: towns (some towns may not have such an npc though) blue jar = 16 units (1 square of mana) red jar = X (too lazy to find out how much) units (it's actually not just a full mana replenish, but that does seem like it though, and it always does fill up your mana fully if you don't cast a spell as it's filling up your mana squares) dying (lol) raising your magic stat getting a magic container ------ palaces/dungeons: there's 6 of them, and you got 6 crystals (can see amount remaining in character window), that you are to place into the statues after the bosses within the dungeons/palaces every dungeon has an item to get as well only when you BOTH got the item and placed the crystal into the statue, do you complete the dungeon/palace, turning it into a mountain tile, and thus making it no longer accessible so, don't worry about placing the crystal into the statue, if you haven't yet gotten the item, the dungeon/palace still remains accessible, you're not hard-locked out of beating the game, lol when you do place the crystal into the statue, you get a level up no matter how many exp points is needed for it, so you may want to avoid doing so, to maximize its usage, but it's not required either, as throughout the entire game, you can level up quickly, though that requires knowledge of the game, which a first time player, won't know the best ways/locations/etc of leveling up, of course ------ the "link doll" items: they give you an extra life, but once you get them, they're gone forever, they're a one time thing so, try not to get them, as you want to hold off on getting them until the end of the game, where they're most needed for... though, it's not the end of the world either if you do get/waste them... just makes the end of the game a big harder (as it's already extremely hard normally, anyways, lol) also, if worst comes to worse, once you got maxed stats (8-8-8), every level up (9,000), is an extra life when you select a stat (the stat does NOT increase, but you get an extra life instead), so you can always grind for extra lives....

main spells: 1. shield: this is your "bread and butter" spell, use it constantly, as taking less damage makes everything so much easier, use it BEFORE you engage (as it's whole benefit is to reduce that damage you take, making it more powerful/useful than using the 'life' spell, when its casted BEFORE you engage, BEFORE you get hit) 2. reflect: this is NOT just for bouncing back the wizrobe beams with your shield (also, you can always block the wizzrobe beams with your physical shield, normally, with-OUT using the 'reflect' spell, using the 'reflect' spell adds on the ability of reflecting of the wizzrobe beams, but has nothing to do with blocking them)... as it ALSO enables you to block most attacks (melee and projectile/throwing) with your physical shield, which is extremely useful/powerful 3. jump: optional/situational (always use jump when you got pits, especially when you got monsters with those pits) (always use 'jump' over 'fairy', as 'jump' is the cheapest spell to use, and 'fairy' is 2nd most expensive spell, beaten only by the 'life' spell, and many times, you got to break blocks with your sword to move to the next screen, which you can't do as a fairy) 4. fire: optional/situational: only has a few niche uses, but for those niche uses, it can be very useful ---------- monster tactics: 1. skeletons and the orange melee axe lizards (with NO shields): walk towards them and as (or right before) they attack you, duck and stab, you'll beat them to the hit, and in hitting them, you knock them back, so you don't get hit by their attack, rinse and repeat 2. the boomerang guys: just rush them and stab them in the face, if you get hit, use that brief invincibility to get in their face and stab em in the face, if you got a quick easy block of a boomerang then do it, otherwise, just don't care if the boomerang hits you (again, if/when get hit, use that brief invincibility to get in face and stab em in face) 3. iron knuckles and the melee axe lizards WITH shields: jump up, and right before you land, attack (no crouching while in the air), takes a bit of practice to get the timing and positioning down well (the attacking right before you land, enables either: you to hit them in the head just above their shield, or, it causes them to lower their shield, allowing you to hit them in the head) (doing the crouching jumps and hitting them on the way up of your jump, is for pro speed runners with really good/fast fingers/dexterity) (the lizards with the shields, are a bit harder to hit, you got to be a bit more precise with them, than you do with the iron knuckles) 4. iron knuckles (the melee ones: NOT the knife throwing blue iron knuckle) and the melee axe lizards WITH shields, WHEN you got a ceiling row of blocks directly above your head (on the 3rd tile up: link is 2 tiles high): just rapidly, as fast as you can, alternate back and forth between pressing the jump and attack buttons, while holding/tapping toward them with the d-pad as needed to hit them, as you actually got like a tiny pixel of jump space, causing you to hit them in the same way/effect/mechanic as #3 above 5. the red axe throwing lizard (with NO shield) and the blue knife throwing iron knuckle: easiest to just use the 'reflect' spell, to block his thrown axes with your physical shield there's also down-thrust when you got it and able to use it, but you still got to avoid (jump over) his thrown axes otherwise, you got to wait and jump (over their thrown axe) towards them (NOT just jumping straight up over the thrown axe), and on the way down from that same jump, you attack/hit them, it takes some practice to get the timing and positioning down, so that you're jumping over the axe and hitting/attacking them on the way down from that same jump 6. the blue iron knuckle armored like guy who throws the boomerang ("thor-returning") hammer/mace/club: easiest is to use down-thrust on him, and/or using 'reflect' to be able to block the thrown hammer/mace/club with your shield, otherwise you got to jump over it (when it comes at you and also when it returns back to him) and hit him when you can 7. the "hammer bro" big mouth hopping red monster that throws the "whatever they are" (lol) in an arc: you just got to time, getting past the arc of his throwing of his "whatever they are", and then just stab him in the face, but be careful of him hopping towards you, and getting hit by him, as you try to get close to stab him 8. bats: just got to be patient, and slowly inch (tap the d-pad) towards them, being ready to move back if they swoop towards you (instead of away from you), and then just time your stab/attack to hit them... (and be careful as you can have two or even three bats on top of each other, so one may swoop away from you, but the other may swoop towards you, so just got to be careful as you don't know how many could be stacked on top of each other, if not paying attention to them) 9. the orange melee axe lizards with NO shields, WHEN they're on a ledge below you (1 tile down): jump towards them, and crouch stab right before you land, to hit them in their head, rinse and repeat, it takes some practice to get the timing and positioning/distance down well, both of you and also with their axe swings by jumping towards them, you give the smallest window for their axe to hit you (you want to be nearly landing right as/after their axe swing ends), while you can stab them right before you land 10. the orange melee axe lizards with NO shields: alternatively to walking toward them and crouch stabbing them before they stab you, you can also just walk towards them and stab them standing up before their axe swing is able to hit you, this might be easier to time and position, for some people, than of crouch stabbing them
