      I would not use these particular products in a vegetable garden, where you would be looking to consume the produce of the plant. I would instead use a few “natural” solutions like diatomaceous earth (food grade),neem oil, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) these are a few food friendly options. I am sure that there are more, that I may not be aware of. But to be safe I would check with a local greenhouse to make sure that you are getting the proper item or maybe a product that works much better and is safer to use. I apologize that I am not as well versed in the solutions that you are looking for. Thank you for the comment. I hope to hear from you in the future.

    My wife screamed this morning when she was ready to leave for work. We parked our car on our driveway and this morning there was about 10 grubs crawling on the driveway (been raining this whole week due to Helene). My wife is terrified of anything that crawls. Anyway, this summer we had a ton of battles and I just thought this is kinda cool, but now my wife said you have to get rid of this issue.

      My apologies for the delay in responding. I have been out of reach of technology for the last 10 days. If you are looking for an immediate result the 24 hour killer works well. Then after 2-3 weeks I put down the seasonal. And I usually put these down in May. Now I will say that this year I got a heavy infestation of armyworms which the seasonal seemed to not deter. So I did put a second round down again and it wiped them out. Seasonal product does work as a deterrent, but it does tend to be slower. Thank you for the comment. I hope to hear from you in the future.

    How long did you dry your seed before mixing it with milorganite?

    • @TheHighlanderLawn
      @TheHighlanderLawn 2 місяці тому

      I allowed it dry for 24 hours from the final soak. This will not completely dry out the seed. It will definitely need to get broken out of the clumps that can and will happen. But using Milo or humate as a binder has worked very well. Thank you for the comment. I hope to hear from you in the future.

    • @TheHighlanderLawn
      @TheHighlanderLawn 3 місяці тому

      I went one setting above the recommended spreader setting for the Milo. The seed is using the Milo as a binder to attach to so you’ll need a little more space to allow it to pass through. If you are not getting the combo of both to come out properly, just notch it up by the next setting until you are satisfied with the Output. Thank you for the comment. Grubs come usually from Japanese Beetles / June bugs. Sod webworms are what are spawned from the adult moths that I was showing. You can also get army worms from a different type of moth that is usually a light tannish brown with an interesting design pattern on their wings. I have experienced them twice since shooting this video and they were the most rapid and destructive of the three. Thank you for your comment. I hope to hear from you in the future.

    • @TheHighlanderLawn
      @TheHighlanderLawn 3 місяці тому

      The amperages on these did vary somewhat but by no more than 1 additional amp. That can make a difference but not a drastic one. In comparison of the height differences. These were the most popular and reviewed units at the time of production of the video. If one could go lower then that was to that unit's advantage over it's competitors. It's more of a granny smith apples to honeycrisp apple's type of comparison. But I am working on a new unit review that will most likely be out and ready come spring of next year just as the dethatching season is strongest. Thank you for your comments. I greatly appreciate it.

    Excellent video. I love the time lapse of you changing out the filters and adjusting the heads. I'm embarking on a project to upgrade most of our rotor heads to MP rotators, including the greens on our community's 9-hole golf course. Looking forward to a big improvement in evenness and consistency.

      FIrst of all let me apologize for the very late response. I somehow missed this comment. Thank you for the compliment. I have been and will most likely forever be a believer in MP Rotators. I wish you the best in your upgrading your system and the golf course. I would love to hear how it's going. Thank you for the comment.

    What was that bug that you said was the culprit for laying the eggs? It looked like a moth? I have seen a lot of those come out of the grass when I am watering. I just thought they were moths of some kind.

    • @TheHighlanderLawn
      @TheHighlanderLawn 5 місяців тому

      They are the adult stage of sod webworms aka “lawn moths”. They are usually busy laying eggs in your lawn that will hatch and their young look like a caterpillar more than a worm. They feed on your turf grass and the damage they inflict will cause your grass to look as though you just dropped your mower too low and “scalped” it, as well as brown patchy spots. You can use the products in the video to help in controlling them. I hoped this helps. Thank you for the comment I hope to hear from you in the future.

      @@TheHighlanderLawn thank you for the information! I had no idea about this kind of bug. I always see them coming out of my grass when I am watering. I threw down some Triazicide because I noticed a lot of cockroaches at night! Then I noticed a patch of yellowing grass when I was watering. Noticed a June bug came up because of the water and I determined that grubs are the culprit. Is Triazicide good to kill these insects (moths, cockroaches, grubs)? The package says it will kill them but was wondering your opinion on it.

    • @TheHighlanderLawn
      @TheHighlanderLawn 4 місяці тому

      @@mslisasierra I don't deal with cockroaches here as much in Utah!! (Thank goodness). I have used Triazicide several times and have seen decent results. My biggest culprit that I deal with most is sod webworms (moths), then grubs from time to time, and I have had one attack of army worms that nearly destroyed my front lawn in just a couple of hours. I have used the Bioadvanced (24 hour killer and Complete season long styles) and Scott's Grub Ex as well as using Bifentherin (mainly helps with mosquitos but does help kill off other bugs and pests spiders, etc.) but be careful if you use bifentherin, it will kill honeybees just an FYI. Thank you so much for the reply. I hope to hear from you in the future.

      To date every dethatcher I have purchased comes with a bagger. But they are honestly an absolute waste of time to try and use them. There’s too much debris. It will fill up in 3 seconds flat.

    Just bought but the 90 degree and anything less than 90 degree similar to the corners of your inner driveway did not work very well. Coverage without going greater than 90 degrees was poor. The middle 180 degree ones work great. Traded them back out. Wanted them to work… corners seem to be an issues.

    Hi, do you recommend the Turf Blue Pro or the Turf Blue HGT?

  • @Tsargents2
    @Tsargents2 5 місяців тому

    Hi. Have a question. I'm in Michigan with very sandy soil. Is there a benefit to putting down the RPR / HGT Bluegrass combo or just seed with RPR and then overseed this fall with the HGT Bluegrass? I should have my irrigation system functioning by early July. It's probably too late for Bluegrass seed, right?

    • @Tsargents2
      @Tsargents2 5 місяців тому

      I also plan to put down 3 inches of topsoil before I seed with the RPR in July.

    • @TheHighlanderLawn
      @TheHighlanderLawn 5 місяців тому

      It is possible to seed in July with KBG. But you are then committing to watering like a “crazy person” 🤣🤣to keep that seed damp enough to push germination and for a couple of weeks thereafter to maintain the seedling development . I love my Turf Blue Pro with the RPR combine, I put down. I have also repeated it on 3 others yards this year and we are seeing amazing results. I have not used the HGT KBG but have heard great things about it. So bottom line…you can seed in the heat of July…it’s not easy and will take more attention to the moisture level and obviously MORE water. You can also Pre-germinate the KBG (as long as it’s not coated with the Yellowjacket coating.) I put out a video on that in 2022 in my ugly lawn series for that year. Thank you for the comment. I hope to hear from you in the future.

    These are some really informative videos. I tried getting a Sun Joe detacher but it’s unavailable everywhere. I ended up getting a Hyper tough detacher/scarifier from Walmart. It’s very easy to use and picks up a lot of debris. I think it will give the Sun Joe a run for its money. This should be your next comparison video.
