    Pro Tip #2 - Your vacuum line running to the distributer is connected improperly to your carb. The distributer should only see a vacuum signal from whats called PORTED vacuum (taken ABOVE the throttle blades). You have it connected to MANIFOLD vaccum (below the blades). This is causing the distributer to advance and retard the timing sloppy and VERY ineffective. The carb has a port on the passenger side ( you currently have a vacuum port cap on it), move that sucker to the PORTED vacuum on that 4150 and you WILL see a MUCH more responsive little engine. IF the car was timed WITH THIS LINE improperly connected, go ahead and put a light back on it and set at 1500, NOT idle, with your newly connected vacuum line.

    • @BCars_Garage
      @BCars_Garage 26 хвилин тому

      @JosephPPreston this is a very common conversation it seems the info points towards ported is good on stock vehicles as it was more of an emissions device originally and manifold favors high performance engines. What I found in this case after hours and hours of tryin both is that it runs significantly better on the manifold vaccum then ported. However I'll try the different rpm like you stated out of curiosity and see if i get a different result

    Check to make sure your floats are set correct. Before you drop that distrubitor in, pull the 4 pin module out of it and hook up a MSD. Also make sure the needle and seats are clean if you have have been running fuel with Ethanol. When you set your timing, make sure to check your total timing with some degree tape on the ballancer. If you want to really have some fun, start messing with the weights and springs in the distributor. Also run an extra ground strap from the block to the body and frame.

      @cantwealljustgetalong2 I know it's the easiest conclusion to jump to but not this time. Nothing but full synthetic oils run and changed often in every mechanical part of this vehicle which I've had since new. All highway driving cruising between 50 to 70 mph is easily 80 to 90% of the driving this thing got. Believe me when I say I was very surprised when this happened. Bone stock and always 91-93 run in it. I believe its just another classic example of engineered to fail.

    Little tip for you, those looked like double platinum or iridium. Change over to a copper core plug so you can get some real spark out of the plugs. Softer metals (copper) emit MUCH hotter and far MORE spark than other offerings. Will have to change them a little more frequent, but it WILL provide a much better combustion event.

    • @BCars_Garage

    • @JosephPPreston
      @JosephPPreston 7 годин тому

      @@BCars_Garage You can run whichever brand you'd like ( I personally run NGK for the reliability I PERSONALLY have had) just make sure you get the copper flavored ones. Cheapest in the bucket, it'll make you scratch your head, but it's due to the much shorter life span BECAUSE of the amount of material its able to convert into the SPARK energy to provide a better combustion event. I only run copper on high performance applications, elsewise you're pissing away reliability in the LONG drives for better HP in the short drives lol.

    Check the voltage at the coil. It should be 12 volts +. If you have 9 volts or less, the wire you have hooked up to the coil is for a points ignition system.

    What color wire is going to the HEI? If it's yellow, it's probably a low tension wire 7-9 volts for points ignition. If that's the case, run another 10ga wire from the fuse box with a 25-30 amp fuse. You need 12v for HEI.

    You can only do that when it’s warm though, And you usually have to pump the pedal anyway

    Hopefully, you got extended warranty. You don't want to spend $5K on a new turbo when it inevitably fails.

      @@AcuraAddicted I did and glad I it as the head gasket went at 74k miles (120km) and it was thankfully covered it was an engine out ordeal so I can't imagine what that would have set me back

    The recall will be officially announced to their customers on october 17th. Dealers were made aware on October 3rd and the FCA posted it on September 27th. They have no software update or batteries...

    Don’t feel bad. I have a 2024 Acura MDX and there was a recall for the shaft bearings. This recall was from November 2023. I’ve try a few months to set a date for recall and every time they kept telling parts unavailable. Until my motor blew up about 1 month 1/2 ago. So my car been in the dealer for that long waiting on a motor. So go to NHTSA.GOV and put your vin number and check for recalls. Due to the recall they have to replace the whole motor in my car for free. My car has 130k now. After this I’m going to sell that car and probably going with 2024 Lexus GX-550. I had almost every model Acura makes. I’m just done with them. At least Toyota when they know they have a problem they announce it to everyone. Honda on the other hand they want to kick the can down the road until your leaves you on foot. I wish you the best of luck.

    Basically it. My 2019 was slightly different but essentially the same. The plastic fasteners (2) on the 4:17 intake were a bit of a hassle so expect to break one. Loosen the filter housing screws, tip it up and yank out the old one, replace new. Very useful video. Thanks.

    I think I used Goddards glow. A yellow paste in a tube. Used it to polish the aluminium side covers on my Kawasaki 900. All black motor, aluminium highlights.

      @killmozzies there's been some very good polishes over the years. There was a paste called magic I used to use and it was amazing
