The trans Saharan slave trade went on for 1300 years where black tribesman sold their people to Muslim slave traders and white slaves were sold to Arabs as well. The name slavery originated with the word Slav, white Slavic slaves that were traded by the Muslims. For some reason, slavery always seems to invoke thoughts of white people in the Americas owning black slaves, but that was a small percentage of the slave trade over the centuries and only about 2% of Americans had slaves. The first slave owner in America was a black man.

I am.of the opinion that, the rudimentary and basic beginnings of slavery started with the very first human beings, as groups began to form, I can well imagine the stronger groups overcoming the weaker groups and forcing them to do the necessary work to survive.. the only problem is, who were these first humans?.. human kind may have started in Africa but, who were they?

Knowledge is power, youngster. History, as Candice says, is complicated. I grew up in post colonial Kenya, and spoke a fair amount of Swahili. It always puzzeled me why it contained so many Arabic words... and as I grew older, and understood the deep roots and effect of the Arab slave trade on Eastern Africa did it make sense. None of us are ever too old to learn. Studying history, not the fantasies of wishful thinking, is the only why humanity can learn from its mistakes.

I always wondered how two hundred sailors could land on the coast of a continent with millions of black people on it and sail away, not once, but many times, with not just the men but the women and children too and not be slaughtered the moment they stepped off their boat.

I saw this in theater thinking I might later bring my 5 year old nephew to see. I wont be doing that, this is definitely for an older child 10+, in my opinion. The movie is about anxiety and why you shouldn’t let it rule your life basically. Which is not a concept my nephew understands. This was a good movie but, for me, not enhanced at the theater. This will be a great movie to watch at home.

All the emotions represented in their daughter's head are also sometimes shown as a "parent" versions within the parents heads. For comic relief. But there's no single emotion jumping between bodies. They /we, each have their own set. :-) My wife and I saw it, believe it or not our 18 year old son tagged along... He actually enjoyed it... well, in teen speak, he said... "it was cool." So, that's a rave. if you really enjoyed the first one, you won't be disappointed. no adult themes. or at least if there was, we all missed it. It was a good one.

I've had the odd discussion with black people from America's south, and the influence of slavery, and the segregationist attitudes that followed on from it, is still keenly felt there. One guy I spoke to worked in a college, and he would tell his black students that it would be incredibly hard for them to succeed because white people wouldn't let them. This was long before BLM. The thing is, I can imagine that in such areas the inherent racism is still going to be there, and probably stronger there than almost anywhere else in the world. The problem is that for some reason, the attitudes from there have been extrapolated, and taken as the default position for black/white relations worldwide. He seemed quite shocked to find Britain didn't have its farms and factories worked by slaves like the USA, or that there were no segregation laws, or that while there was certainly racism, it was based around African cultural/tribal stereotypes rather than perceiving black people as slaves. I kind of suspect it's part of a problem the left has, in that left wingers feel uncomfortably criticising left wing viewpoints, which has allowed the more extreme people to set the agenda.

Stop listening to Candace because she didn't explain the American slave trade in its proper context. First, I would like to say that Black Americans were considered chattel slavery. The fact that we've been in physical slavery for more than 400 years. Ask Candace to explain chattel slavery. The fact that you just said that black people in Europe are having the same issue should show you that this is proof that this experience is real and not fake.

Africa had a well established slave trade from the 11th century with the biggest buyer being Portugal and the Arabics.... the British Crusade forced them to give this slave trade up and the selling of its people.... Shout out to Grenville Sharpe for his 20 year fight to end slavery...a white man...

This new film series is a reboot to the original film series. There are a ton of references to the original film series. Rise is the first film in the reboot film series but many fans wished it was called Dawn instead of the second film being called Dawn because the sun dawns before it rises. War is last film of the Caesar trilogy but it's more than just a war film and the main war is the war within Caesar. Kingdom is set 300 years after War but you do see Caesar's funeral at the opening scene. The original 1968 film is loosely based on a French novel.

BTW, I subscribed... very mellow and honest reaction. i like it... its seems its just you being you. One suggestion... just watch your audio levels during edits. Your intro and outro instrumentals are louder than your voice, so it sort of comes in hot. Also, the orientation of your videos are backwards... so all text is reversed. Not a big deal overall, but if you ever plan to show a product, or any text, its flipped and you'll have to flip in post. Again, fine, but if you settle on a background set for all other vids, indoor tree off to the right, and some blue/orange LED spot lighting etc... then decide to re-orient, your carefully selected background flips too. Just a thought. Kudos to you on firing this up.
