Spot on! I left Tax Jersey decades ago when I joined the military and never went back when my enlistment ended. I retired young and debt free in Texas. I doubt I could have pulled that off if I went back to Tax Jersey. Texas has high property taxes but the exemptions I have help and they don't tax EVERYTHING here like Tax Jersey does. If NJ could tax you for using your bathroom, they would.

So ... don't retire in the north east, or California.

So? By some criteria or another, every state is potentially a hellhole.

Good thing the "senior job market" is so good in MInneapolis. You'll need that extra income to pay your exorbitant taxes. Be careful utilizing the public transportation too, you might get shot! Minneapolis is NOT safe and it is NOT affordable. It does, however, have THE MOST diverse city council in the USA...they are, to use a Minnesota colloquialism, da-verst. These lists are bought-and-paid for by the city PR groups. I guess that is where Minneapolis is spending all the money they took from the police.

Thank you for spotlighting Ada, Minnesota. My parents and grandparents grew up there. I spent a lot of time visiting family here when I was growing up. I loved this place. I miss the old water tower and the ten o'clock curfew siren .
