I built a mobile app to record potholes in Edinburgh! I did so using no-code! This is a recording of my talk about the project, which I gave at Tech Meetup Edinburgh on 2024-06-03. lellep.xyz/blog - check my blog for more details!

3D SCANNING FOR CAD MODELING | Teaser project
Переглядів 2454 роки тому
I built a box for my PC mouse! This video shows how I did so. I used 3D scanning in order to scan my PC mouse and to model the box around it in CAD. Check out my blog post if you want to learn how to use 3D scanning for CAD modeling utilising, amongst others, the Google cloud: lellep.xyz/blog/how-to-use-3d-scanning-for-cad-modeling.html Music credits: - freesound.org/people/ERH/sounds/42286/ - ...
Clear and simple!
Awesome project! Seeing the title first I thought it was about using the shaking of the phone in a car to capture the severity of potholes at given locations. That approach would not make much sense on a bicycle where you might be up and down the curb etc., but it could work automatically in a car. Taking the shown frequency of reported potholes :), your approach instead would be most applicable to reporting by pedestrians I guess, or perhaps cyclists.
Very cool. And open source!
Thanks Peter! Yes indeed, open source with everything included that's needed to train the model yourself!
Thank you for the work on this project, this is really amazing and a much needed feature to bridge digital and analogue note taking. I looked at the GitHub repo, is this project still being worked on?
Hey there, yes, it is still being actively worked on - currently actually every day :-)! Currently, I am building an additional model for the recognition step right after the discovery step. While this model is not yet public, it will be fully open-source later on my GitHub profile once it is done. After that, I am going to look into how to actually deploy the models within Xournal++ to get the first batch of features delivered to the users!
@@martinlellep7713 That's great to hear! Thanks for all the hard work, can't wait to see updates of this project!
@@martinlellep7713 looking forward to it, Concept 1 works OK even with my terrible handwriting
Awesome, very good idea!
