What a brutal frq, oh my word. I might be screwed if this comes up in my unit 4 quiz or exam 😬
@@chriskwon6784 you are not kidding me 😳 good news if it is on your quiz… you have seen it before and theoretically will do better on it! Best wishes with the quiz.
Love you ❤
@@pat_toral 🥰🥰 thank you! I hope the video helps you study.
I never took chemistry…do you have any tips or advice about this unit because we’re already moving onto the second unit and I don’t 100% understand this one yet because of all the chemistry involved.
@@kalb6122 the biggest thing you need to understand is the polar vs nonpolar covalent bonding, hydrogen bonds, and functional groups. The chemistry is built into the topics so you learn the chemistry without realizing it. You got this!
Thankyou soooo much!!!
@@eshaalsiddiqui209 always happy to help! ❤️🤓🐧
Heard of your page from a friend studying AP Bio. You are making me want to actively study! I really hope I can get a 5! With your help I’m sure I’m a penguin and I’m dressed for success! If I come across any question I can’t do I’ll ask you (if that’s fine)
@@superwee5268 🥰 I hope you get your 5 on the exam. I think 40% or so of the students to used my resources (and answered my form) got a 5 on the exam so … you can definitely do it! I probably wouldn’t ask the Qs here but I would be happy to answer your Qs if you DM on my IG. I balance a lot (and even more as the exam gets closer but always happy to help). ❤️🤓🐧
@@apbiopenguinsinsta-review4538 Thank you :))
THANK UUUUU
do u have practice frqs for this unit???

I've got my first AP Bio test tomorrow, but this definitely helped me understand the topics in my notes. Thanks for the help!

Hey! I’m am confused on the part where both lipids and nucleic acids both have nitrogen. Then what is the thing about CHO CHO CHON CHONP or is this even real in ap bio?
I think the Amoeba Sisters came up with CHO CHO CHONS CHONP. Its referring to the elements that you need to know that are in it. Carbohydrates have CHO, Lipids have CHO, Proteins have CHONS, and Nucleic Acids have CHONP. Lipids do NOT have nitrogen - did I misspeak and say lipids instead of proteins? Some lipids have phosphorus (phospholipids).
@@apbiopenguinsinsta-review4538 ohhh I see, thank you so much.
I'm completely new to bio as i took biomed but switched in ap bio and I've noticed that when ever I try to study for this class like for example reading a book or even watching the video (you mention things like Monosccharides just in the first few min of the video) which I have never heard of Almost all the time I don't understand what I am reading or hearing. With that being said I am lost and I don't know what to do nor do i know where I can go to start from the basics, do you have any tips by chance?
@@hiamamuffin5155 it sounds like you are lost on your vocab which leads to overall misunderstanding. I would see if you can start looking up some of the vocab words as you read your textbook. I would read before class so you won’t be as lost.
When do you grade their response, the same day, or after they do the correction?
@@seandrvenkar6094 immediately after. I have a 20 minute timer on the board. They grab the scoring guidelines and a highlighter when it goes off (or they are finished) and start scoring.
@@seandrvenkar6094 I misread 🤦🏻♀️ I grade the responses that night or the next day then return to the students so they can do the corrections. You can have the turn around time that works for you. Order of events: - students take FRQ - students score FRQ - teacher score FRQ - students complete corrections - teacher scores corrections
school just started for me yesterday and i’m going through all your videos for ap bio 😭 the ap exam isn’t even until may

hi i’m taking the AP bio 2025, which videos should i watch? the ones here or the ones from two years ago on the macro learning channel. i started the first video from there
TBH the two videos are very similar. I wanted to be able to get credit for my work so I made new videos last year on my own platform. I modified and added some new practice questions on some of the videos. Plus, I might have explained something different or had a question in one versus the other. I asked the followers on IG and they asked me to make a new video this year so I will probably go live each year and end up making a new unit video each year during the Feb - May AP Review Season.
if the error bars overlap then the stats are insignificant.
@@bossranker9994 correct - not statistically significant Did I say something wrong?
Cool!
wouldt water be formed of h-bonds not covalent bonds?
@@royals_sprayz3679 BETWEEN water is hydrogen bonds (between oxygen of one molecule and hydrogen of another molecule) IN water is covalent bonds (between the O and H of the same water molecule)

Are you about to take the course or did you already finish the course?
@@apbiopenguinsinsta-review4538 neither, I’m just trying to learn as much AP stuff as I can before my freshman year cus I wanna attend med school 😭 I finished the Khan academy course but I didn’t rlly learn much so your channel is great!
for question 1, I said some cells might have an aneuploidy which is like the same thing as irregular number of chromosomes right? I’m quite scared 😭
I can see that.
would you say that I would get the point? because like what I thought was that there’s gonna be irregular or incorrect numbers of chromosomes in the daughter cells because the segregation is being impacted and that way aneuploidy was a term to sum that up….
@@shuyaminerdpogikeadascrazy as I said. I could see that. The scoring guidelines haven’t been made nor released to the public so I don’t know if it would be accepted or not but I could see it being accepted.
oh ok, thank you so much!
This explains it very well thank you
How does the figure in number 6 show that UGG takes longer to get started?
It remained on the UGG for a longer period of time.
i have my test tomorrow lol how do u know when to count alleles and when you can use your p square and work backward to get all the numbers ? like in this question of chi square they can't you use p square as homozygous recessive value?
Hardy Weinberg is an estimation. If you have all the genotype numbers, then you will use the counting allele method. If not, use the H-W.
@@apbiopenguinsinsta-review4538 thank youu
There was table and graph heavy.
why do you do 2 into the error bar for this question?
The chart says 1 SEM and the question says to graph +\- 2 SEM
My FRQ was different from this lol
You didn’t have form O. No discussing your Qs… sorry :(
@@apbiopenguinsinsta-review4538 yep, I had form I. Still watched the vid tho for the KNOWLEDGE Thanks for making it
hi! for the very first question where it asks for what happens during the s phase, i said that chromosomes duplicate. do u think it would be an acceptable answer?
Maybe 🤷🏻♀️hard to say how detailed they wanted it to be.
For the post zygotic barrier question, could we have written allopathic speciation? The term is related to post zygotic speciation so I was wondering if that would work? I wrote an example where a species would have been separated by chance due to a natural disaster causing them to speciate into a new species?
I wouldn’t consider that specifically post zygotic so I don’t think Allopatric would be acceptable
For 3d, I wonder if the writers are looking for students to tell why the transporter is required as part of that justify. I wrote something about glucose being polar and requiring the GLUT protein to help it across the hydrophobic layer of the membrane in addition to the rest that you also wrote.
Maybe. It’s hard to say, but I would assume no. The wording of the question tells you that it requires a protein for transport and doesn’t require you to explain why.
For number 2A, I just put that water is an input that is used to break covalent bonds between atoms. Would they still accept that?
Depends how specific they wanted it to be. Hard to say how CB will write their scoring guideline.
Help I said fertility reduction instead of reduced hybrid reduction im cooked. I described it right though does that count for anything...HELP
We are able to read kid speak. You should be fine 🫶🏻
thank you so much, my bio teacher loves you and showed us your ten day review and you’ve just been incredibly helpful. bio is my favorite and your passion for it is amazing too! you’re a great teacher!
🥰 happy to help! Let me know how amazing you did when the scores release in July.
For part D, can't no effect still work as an answer? Crossing over frequency is not completely stopping; its just decreased slightly.
Idk the prompt stated that it needs to cross over for separation of alleles.
Do you think these FRQs were easier or harder than last year’s? Or in other words, would it take less or more points to get a 5 this year? Thank you so much for all your help! ❤
I think these questions were easier than previous years, but a lot depends on the way the scoring guidelines are written and how strict they are for specific wording.
Hey so for b (i) I said that the control group would be a group without the modified chromosome 8. Would I be wrong?
At 8:30, i put 1650 instead of 1650 nmol. Would I get the question wrong?
The units are in the question so I assume you will be ok without units, but you probably shouldn’t have naked numbers
for the s phase question, i wrote that it was for replicating dna AND organelles. would i get partial credit for this or no credit at all?
Possibly. If your answer doesn’t take away from the answer they are looking for, you should be good.,
would you be able to post the pdf of this??
Sorry for the delay. It is posted on my website: apbiopenguins.weebly.com/mrs-jones-responses1.html
