Kassie and Rick - Explore Many Paths

Travel is not reward for working, it’s education for living - Anthony Bourdain
We make videos for us first. That's why you don't hear a lot of us talking or see a lot of our faces - we would rather remember and share the feel and experience of being in a location. The descriptions and comments contain more information and links if you are looking for travel recommendations.
Just normal everyday New Yorkers (with our heart shared between Oregon and Iceland) - keeping track of our adventures through video. We explore our backyard (NY and East Coast), the US, and outside of our borders - as much as we can.
Originally from Iowa (Kassie) and Kansas (Rick), we met in Kansas in 2005 and immediately found that we had so much in common - including our desire to see the world. We now live in NYC and quickly started catching up on travel after our first international trip to Iceland in 2015. We make videos for us and our family/friends to track our travels.

Day One We kicked off our Hallstatt leg with a private car with MyDayTrip from Vienna. We took a detour to Aggstein Castle, perched high on a mountain with epic views and medieval vibes. On arrival in Hallstatt, we were dropped at the local parking lot, but a short walk brought us to Seewirt - Zauner, our cozy hotel right in the heart of the market square. Settling into this beautiful, historic setting was like stepping back in time. A wonderful dinner on the waterfront patio of Restaurant Am See before local wine on our hotel patio.
Day Two Our morning started unexpectedly with an icy shower (not every vacation moment is perfect!), but breakfast turned things around. We took the funicular up the mountain for panoramic views of Hallstatt and the lake. At the top, we relaxed with a cold beer and admired the scenery. Later, we rented an electric boat, where Captain Kirk navigated the entire lake in just under an hour-a peaceful and scenic ride! We strolled the quaint streets, sampled pastries, and even picked up our laundry from the local café (thanks to the chef moonlighting as a laundress!). An afternoon walk led us to the Charnel House (ossuary) for a humbling visit, followed by a sunset dinner at Restaurant Am See. Dessert and wine on our patio wrapped up an amazing day!
Day Three After a final breakfast and some morning photos of the cloudy, picturesque town, we enjoyed a last coffee before setting off. Another seamless MyDayTrip ride carried us deeper into the Austrian Alps to Innsbruck.
Note for anyone visiting Hallstatt (and this does go for anywhere!) - remember that you are visiting someone’s home and town. You might be visiting for a day - but they live here. If there are signs saying do not enter or please be quiet after hours, do it. While most people were lovely, we saw too many people walking on clearly private property, loudly yelling after hours, stopping in the street, blocking locals, and more. It is a honor and a privilege to be able to travel and to be able to visit places like this and I only hope that people start treating it so or the privilege might go away.

What started as 40 from august to august has expanded to the start of 2023 to August 2024. Due to other people planning things that we want to join… before August 2023. This is the celebration of “omg Kassie survived 40 years - we never thought it would happen.” Maybe the next 40, I’ll be more careful so it won’t be so surprising. 40 “experiences” have to be #1 unique, #2 require the day and night in the location to count, #3 that’s it.

Hi, I will travel this november to Morocco. I’m worried about the weather temperature. In what period do you went? How was the temperature?
We were there in November. It was very mild. I (Kassie) wanted to make sure that I was covered so that I would be culturally respectful but comfortable. My skirts and long sleeve tops are mostly light weight and I was really comfortable. In the shade it was rarely hot. The desert was even quite cool and I’m glad I brought a sweater. Only one day on the trip I felt hot and it was a day where we had no shade at all. My husband runs hot and he wore shorts/tshirt the whole time but was still quite comfortable and in the shade never was hot. Linen will be your friend to layer but stay cool if needed.
@@KassieAndRick-ExploreManyPaths Thank you very much! I was worried about the temperature swings between cold and hot/morning and night. I know already about the cover thing, I also think that is respectful. Thank you for your time!
@@martinapacello3728 Absolutely! I only had the one sweater for the few cooler nights/mornings and that was plenty - and one pair of "thicker" pants that were like a jean thickness for the desert for night/morning as well. The rest of the time - the linen layers were perfect for the temperature swings - no issues. Just the one hot day I couldn't escape the sun I was tempted to go down to a tank top! Haha.
@@KassieAndRick-ExploreManyPaths Thank you so much!
Looks beautiful
Thank you!

Bermuda is not like any other island you will ever visit! Make sure you take your manners with you…….always greet before asking, remember your please and thank you’s…..transportation is the easiest ..the buses are fantastic. The food in Bermuda is fabulous, you can get spoiled very easily. If you go out on a boat, or rent a boat make sure you go to Paradise Lakes, you won’t regret it! The beaches are the best is the world, the water is the clearest! One thing to keep in mind, Bermuda is expensive, but worth every penny!!! Lived and worked there for 2 years!!!
Wonderful advice. We love the manners - everywhere!! And yes yes yes yes for the rest!❤️
Great take on beautiful Mystic. Thank you
Thank you!
Great, great, great video. Family vacationed there October of 23. It hurts, I miss it so much. Visit the State Park. No words capture the beauty, the peace, the tranquility of St. George Island, FL ❤😢
It is just such a wonderful place!
Great video! We're glad you had a great trip!
Really a wonderful place. Can’t wait to come back!
What a beautiful video, a feast for the eyes. Storytelling is awesome! I like that you went to the not-so-usual-places featured in most Portugal videos. I love the occasional banter too! We visited Portugal and went to some of the places you went to. You enjoyed much warmer weather than we did from April 29 to May 8. Oh, I see you love pizzas!!!
Thank you! We’re happy you enjoyed it! We did get so lucky on the weather and had such a great time. And LOVE pizza 🍕 ❤️
We did a have blast too! I can’t get over Portugal from Lisbon to Cascais to Fatima, Sintra, Porto and Nova de Gaia!
Awesome.
Thank you!
