A fabulous fair

When I redid our kitchen about 15+ years ago, I did what you just mentioned. I interspersed “Craftsman” tiles with “Jerusalem” field tiles in the backsplash. Over the stove we did a large grouping of tiles forming 3 tall lilies bordered by rope shaped tiles. I love the result. I did all the cabinets, island, etc. in quarter sawn oak which really complimented the tile work.

I have a percussion pistol like yours, but massively larger. It was disassembled by a gunsmith and he found no marks. I asked an “expert” on eBay about it years ago and he said that he thought it was a 18C French boar gun.

Years back, I bought 6 “Meissen” tiles with a face molded in each. They didn’t have the traditional Meissen mark of the crossed swords, but the skyline of a town (Meissen?) and the word “Meissen” stamped near the skyline. I never found an explanation for the mark on the tiles. Do you have any idea? I think I paid $35 a piece for them 20 or so years ago and recently put them up for auction with the Asian art appraiser for the US Antiques Road show. They brought $35 for the set, LOL.

I love it when “experts” aren’t sure what the wood is. LOL. When I was buying antiques at the local antique auction, one of the owners of the auction would call to the other, “What’s the wood?” The answer was often, “Tree wood!” when he couldn’t tell. Always made me laugh.

i have a large royal worcester blush ivory jardinière/planter with lion masks -not sure how much I should sell it for....is $5,000 canadian too much?
