#dailyhabits #WellnessOver50 #mentalhealth
As we age, it's crucial to prioritize our health and well-being. Today, I am sharing 10 simple 2-minute daily habits that can transform your life, especially if you're over 50. These habits are easy to incorporate and can significantly improve your physical and mental well-being. We're talking about feeling more energized, improving your focus, and boosting your mood.
Now, you might be thinking, "Two minutes isn't much." And you're right-two minutes is just a small amount of time. But that's the beauty of it. It's a manageable, stress-free way to start, and it can make a difference. The main thing is to start, even if it's just for two minutes. Over time, if you feel like it, you can grow to doing five minutes or even more. The key is to begin and make it a habit.
Start with just one of these habits each day. As you get comfortable, add a second one. After all, what's four minutes out of your day? You're worth that time. By dedicating just a few minutes each day to these simple habits, you'll take important steps toward a healthier, happier life. So let's get started!

      Hi Gary, Thank you! Living in Spain with all the animals has been such a joy. A cocker spaniel sounds like a wonderful companion! As for cities to visit in Spain, each one has its own charm. If you’re into vibrant city life and culture, Barcelona and Madrid are fantastic. For a more relaxed atmosphere with beautiful beaches, consider Valencia, Alicante or Málaga. Your trip to Porto sounds amazing-Portugal is such a beautiful country! I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic time exploring. If you have any questions about Spain or need travel tips, feel free to ask! I don't really like big cities so I might not enjoy Barcelona, Seville or Madrid. I haven't ruled out Seville. I've solo travelled many times and also with a friend. I much prefer solo travelling. My friend liked to go to the beach all day and go clubbing at night I like to visit historic sites and just have a few drinks in a quiet bar at night. I also like to go to bed at a reasonable hour. My friend would be up all night till 7am.

    Love your style, there’s definitely an art to living happily alone, which is as much ( if not more ) about not doing things as it is doing them! It’s been most difficult for me to move away from draining friendships without feeling guilty and selfish, knowing you’re going to hurt someone’s feelings by distancing yourself from them, but doing it anyway. I’d love to hear how you have balanced being kind to yourself with showing kindness towards other people in your life. Thankyou for your generous service! X

    • @evaellenjoan
      @evaellenjoan 24 дні тому

      Hi X, Thank you for your thoughtful comment! You’re absolutely right-finding the balance between nurturing yourself and maintaining relationships can be quite challenging. It’s important to recognize that while distancing yourself from draining friendships can feel difficult, it's a crucial step towards preserving your own well-being and happiness. Balancing kindness to yourself with kindness to others involves setting clear boundaries while communicating with empathy. It’s okay to prioritize your needs, and I definitilly had to after putting everybodies needs before me for over 50 years and sometimes that means making tough decisions about who to keep in your life. It’s important to remember that self-care isn’t selfish; it’s necessary for maintaining your mental and emotional health. One approach I’ve found helpful is to be honest and respectful when communicating changes. Explain your need for space or a change in the relationship, but do so with compassion. This helps to minimize hurt feelings and reinforces that your decision isn’t a reflection of the person’s worth but rather a step towards your own balance and peace. Thank you for your kind words, and I’m glad the video resonated with you. Wishing you strength and clarity on your journey! 🌹

      Yes! Thank you so much for this, it’s what I’m trying to do and getting better at - the amazing sense of freedom after taking control of the people and things in my life is definitely worth the challenges. I’ve got more time and energy to do all the things I want and love to do, and wake up every day with a sense of excitement and gratitude. There have been a couple of people who didn’t understand my changes, even though I tried very hard to let them know they were no reflection on them or their worth in any way, but I kind of knew this would happen . Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts , I love your channel and always look forwards to the next instalment! Xx

    I lost my best friend and my daughter in the pandemic so im functionally the last of my line. I love living alone, but my adopted semi rural community are afraid and outraged by my lifestyle. Sadly humanity is still backwardly thinking that couoles sre the only way. I say to couples - some day, one of you will be alone and the community will shunyou. Sad but true.

    • @evaellenjoan
      @evaellenjoan 24 дні тому

      I'm so sorry for your loss.🌹 I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to go through something like that. It’s incredibly strong of you to continue living life on your terms, even when facing misunderstanding from others. It's true that societal norms can be limiting, and it's unfortunate that some communities still hold onto outdated views about what a "proper" lifestyle looks like. Your perspective is so important-many people don’t realize that, at some point, everyone might face life on their own. It's a reality that should bring more compassion and understanding, not judgment. Thank you for sharing your story and for standing up for a lifestyle that works for you. You’re not alone in this, and there are others who understand and support your journey. Stay strong, and know that your voice matters.💙

      Gary, that's awesome that you're traveling solo to Portugal next month-you're going to have an amazing time! Portugal has so much to offer, and traveling solo gives you the freedom to explore exactly how you want, without having to compromise. As for Spain, there are so many great cities to visit depending on what you're looking for-Barcelona for its vibrant culture, Seville for its historic charm, or Granada for a mix of both or what I said on your other comment. If you love the solo travel vibe, I think you'll really enjoy the independence and flexibility it brings. Safe travels, and enjoy every moment of your trip! 🌞

    I choose NOT to have children although I have had long term relationships. I think being pregnant is a waste of time, and also having children is extremely cost full. Iv worked in elderly care homes in different countrys and most older people don't have any kids visiting them although they spent half their life providing for them kids. I am very happy for my decision as there are so many ways of having people around you, and in your life without having children and the cost of it. Thank you from Lexi J

      Hi Lexi, Thank you for sharing your perspective. It’s true that there are many paths to a fulfilling life, and choosing not to have children can certainly be one of them. Finding joy and connection in other ways is incredibly valid and can be deeply rewarding. It sounds like you’ve made a thoughtful decision based on your experiences and values. I appreciate your openness and am glad to hear you’re happy with your choice. 🌞

    Some people do not have ANY friends who would check on others on a regular basis. They are too busy or too self absorbed!

      Hi! That’s a valid point. It’s important to nurture relationships with people who genuinely care and make the effort to check in on each other. Building and maintaining those connections can make a big difference. 💥

      HI, what are you referring to?

  • @thereseschab5042

    I'm in Mexico and, unfortunately, they don't treat us Guerras like 'friends'...if I need something simple or something I'd expect would just be neighborly....they expect payment. It is depressing......we aren't treated like humans, (5 years here). Perhaps it is just me, I don't know...but they see me on the street and don't even bother to get to know me, they just want me to hire them. I really don't have that much money..I have enough monthly to survive, but not much more. But they can't seem to comprehend that or don't want to.

      Theresa, I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. It sounds like a tough situation, and it's understandable to feel isolated when you're not receiving the neighborly support you'd hoped for. Living in a different country with different cultural expectations can be challenging, especially when you feel like you're being treated differently because of where you're from. 💥 It's possible that the community might not fully understand your financial situation or that there could be cultural differences at play. Sometimes, people may assume that foreigners have more resources, which can lead to the kind of experiences you're describing. It might help to gently communicate your situation to those around you, letting them know that you're on a budget and would appreciate neighborly kindness without expecting payment in return. In the meantime, consider seeking out expat communities or online groups where you can connect with others who might be going through similar experiences. These communities can offer support, advice, and even friendship. Also, don't hesitate to look for volunteer opportunities or local groups where you can engage with the community in a way that doesn't require financial transactions. This might help bridge the gap and build connections based on mutual respect and understanding. I use Workaway to get help at my non-profit. Remember, you're not alone in feeling this way, and reaching out to others, whether locals or fellow expats, might help ease some of the challenges you're facing. Take care, and I hope things start to improve for you. 🌞

      @@evaellenjoan Thanks...I've tried the ex-pat community here. Actually. not very nice and not very helpful. I have talked to other people who have lived abroad and they say the same thing. I've told my neighbors I live month to month...but still, my. house is nicer than there's, so they only see me as a bank or source of work for some pesos. I had a maid for awhile, and she just kept doing more and more than I was asking and I felt guilty so I gave her more after clearing stating I don't want her cleaning my garden. Then she started bringing me things to sell to me saying her sister was in the hospital. I bought a couple of things and I only had a 500 peso bill and she shoved two other things in my chest and didn't give me my change. I got rid of her after that, saying that my work cut down and I couldn't pay her anymore. Now it is really uncomfortable in the calle. Anyway...I'll get by. I have a debilitating painful chronic illness for 30 years and have always gotten by. It is getting harder, but damned if I'm going to hire any of these manipulators. I hate to say it, but after five years here, I will never trust a Mexican national to be decent without anything in return.

      Sad I know...but racism is real and it exists everywhere, and the Mexicans are some of the most racist people I have ever met in my life, even with their own (the Mestizos)....it is a VERY classist society and sexist, which just makes me boil. Perhaps someday I'll have to move to a gated community in San Miguel where the really rich gringos live with a bunch of other old fart expats to hopefully have some decent humans, but my expectations these days are very low. It just seems to me people have changed a lot. I think it has something to do with the state of the world. Faster I can be outta here, happier I am.

      then why continue to live there?

    • @thereseschab5042
      @thereseschab5042 27 днів тому

      @@GM-jv9jz I came down with one dog, and that was hard enough, then getting through all the immigration stuff was so horrendous, finally obtained my residency. Then I adopted a street puppy because he would have had a terrible life. I also have a chronic illness...just getting down here, thinking the weather would help me and also leaving behind all the traumas of the past and, at that time, the lower cost of living (not anymore).....so, getting back with two dogs I find super overwhelming. I have a gorgeous house for the first time in my life a stable home at 59...I'm so tired of moving, I'm mean SO tired. I've made my gardens so incredible and all my artwork is all over the place (in the past I had to leave it to move). So guess the main answer is I'm so tired of moving. People treated me like shit in the States, and I've never had family or even a decent friend, so there really isn't anything to go back to. I know...I've kinda had a shitty life I guess. A lot of really manipulative crappy humans and because of my abusive childhood, I couldn't recognize what was happening (I can now!). I have a hard time driving...here I don't have to drive, taxis and buses or get things delivered...that was one of the reasons I chose this city. My house is quiet and a fortress.....and the US is in chaos right now. So......I will stay. Seems I was born alone and with no support, and I will keep on keeping on and pass that way. I'm ok with it.
