Kinda lost me at the neuro stuff - maaaaybe it'd be worth talking about if brains / neurons were actively discussed in game; sorta seems like you just have a theory of mind from the outset and wanted an excuse to talk about it. All that stuff is cool, don't get me wrong (have a degree in cognitive science) but it didn't deepen my understanding of ER in the way that some of your other claims about stars/gravity/black holes did!

wow... WOW! Due to stress and chaos irl I haven't been engaging in online stuff much the last few weeks. I felt like I wouldn't be able to give videos like this the attention I want to. And to be honest... I'm glad I waited because this video is an absolute work of art! And I'm glad I waited until I was in a good headspace to appreciate it!! I find it incredible how similar our ideas and conclusions can be when our methodology and rationale so different! Almost as if the lore of Elden Ring (and Dark Souls) were built according to rules. Patterns inevitably recurring in each game just like our neural networks resemble the cosmic web. Different things, different scale, but the rules that cause one pattern likely cause the other. Seriously impressed how eloquently and effectively you broke down and explained topics like neuroscience and astrophysics and tied them into our favorite fantasy game. Your skills for communication and story telling are superb! Your visuals, editing, pacing, and script all support each other to help communicate the message. It's not just stuff happening at the same time. It's stuff interacting to do more than the sum of their parts. This gets me SO hyped!! Haha you better believe I too am obsessed with that black hole / golden halo symbol. OH! And I loved it when you overlayed the gravity magic sigil over the moon! I've long wondered what those arcs must be on the moon. The common explanations I've heard is that it's Ranni's Great Rune or that it's somehow another Elden Ring or depiction of it. I couldn't reconcile any of those or my own ideas with what I think the moon is and represents in Elden Ring. And now it seems so obvious.. because the gravity sigil falls so neatly and perfectly in line with what I think the moon represents. Thank you for the revelation!! It even makes sense in the context of Dark Souls. So cool. Man, and rotating Radagon's lattice to show a best-fit line between data points! And the Elden Ring itself is causality rings as neurons connected by regression lines as signals... that's just so fucking cool and brilliant. Fucking rad video, man.

Amazing Video! It sparked many thoughts, here are two. 1) Possibly, neurons capture and concentrate a consciousness from the ether surrounding us. maybe like a black hole, maybe. at least, a gravity well. This energy is a knot in space time capable of understanding the causality around it. 2) The Numen are the only beings with a specific name, no dragon rune, no troll ruin, only runes named after an individual who has amassed power, hero lord and Marika. The Numen came from the stars and, maybe, are like the Maia of LOTR.

4:30 just made me think of something so I just wanted to drop in and mention various meta-narratives focus on video games using something called "experience" to "level up". Originally intended to imply that a player character was "becoming more experienced" after defeating enemies, the language and methods naturally implied to many people that you were instead "taking" experience from your enemies. Some clever people wrote narratives to suggest you were literally stealing the "lived experience" of your enemies - taking their experience, their skills, their memories. Taking an enemy's life suddenly became quite literal - you're absorbing their actual life, a little part of them. Fromsoftware themselves imply this, although they focus on the idea that absorbing souls/experience from enemies is a spiritual cannibalism - you devour your enemies and absorb their strength.

As someone kind of obsessed with the frenzied flame, Id pose that it's different because it's conceptually the opposite of a black hole. Where a black hole draws in matter, including time and light to its singularity, the frenzied flame instead burns it's singularity and, through its flames, casts matter outward just as fire spreads the carbon and other elements it burns into the air and to the ground as ash. It is a great equalizer in that it reduces everything to dust and ash, equality through annihilation, and entropic distribution. The frenzied flame sees suffering, pain and the mistakes that life has inherited through it's very nature, and it collects all matter just the same as a star does to form (note that the frenzied flame is closely tied to forbidden knowledge, notably the knowledge tied to those of considerable suffering) and eventually collapse into a black hole, and it takes the next step in exploding outward with cleansing, unbiased and equalizing fire. It coalesces and burns outward life's energy, its pain and anguish, it's happiness and pleasure, burning it all away until it is dulled back to its most basic, ashen nothing, the heat death of existence. If life and it's experience is energy, the sun the soul star of the Lands Between and/or its creator, if Grace is the ability to stabilize it like the gold of old alchemy, the Erdtree planted to stay the land's erosion to the nothing around it, then the frenzied flame is a denial to all of it, an acceptance of entropy for the sake of foregoing the struggles, the flaws of creation at the price of its joy and experience. It is a statement that there is no need for order, for stability if all things are, as they were once before, all equally cold ashes, raw carbon and other elements, ready to be reforged with greater practice, or not at all. No births and joy, but no death or anguish, no want, but no need. When all black holes are spun down to nothing, when all light in the universe fades, when every planet is eroded and scattered away into cosmic sand, every nebula dissipated of its vivid gasses. Only then will the universe know perfect peace and equanimity.

All is wthin the all as the all is within all. Fucking crazy! Also, im sure you know about this, but if you havent. The kybalion is a great book i highly recommend. I think you'll find the principle of mentality to be quite fascinating. But the book also talks about some other very important key points as well.

Seeing the diagram of a black hole's gravity well made me realize that the Elden Ring itself looks suspiciously similar, with a large arch at the top connecting to a single spike which punches through everything else, especially with the regression matrix pattern looking like the grid pattern that represents space-time in the black hole diagram I feel like this fits with the idea that the Elden Ring and/or Erdtree is a "rune/soul gravity well" of sorts, literally pulling everyone back in to the Lands Between and keeping them from truly passing on, especially with how the dead are meant to be fed to the Erdtree
