This movie got buried by the other releases at the time and poor reviews probably deterred audiences from seeing it. I definitely need to rewatch this. BUT, if my nostalgia for it is wrong, I’m blaming you both!

That’s a point of contention between bill and the grim reaper here. There are certain lines that you don’t cross with a man’s daughter and Joe has crossed that line. Bill is understandably pissed about this. His daughter being in love isn’t the problem, it’s that she’s in love with someone who doesn’t know what it really means to love someone and because it’s the grim reaper, it’s an understandable feeling that bill would be disturbed by this

That coffee shop scene both invented the meet cute in movies AND perfected it. I am convinced

This was a strange movie but it had a lot of heart and substance to it. Toss in Brad Pitt as the sexiest grim reaper and you have a good movie

The cop is the son of the cop who shot Cathy Berman's mom. The cop who lost bladder control was out of line, embarrassed the LAPD and probably did what he did to someone with influence . . . . no wonder it got swept under the rug.

Madeline Stowe was becoming a big star then and she was willing to play someone unsympathetic and kind of odd. Very versatile and talented actress.

Those of us that saw this in theatres, never forgot this film. My friend and I went and picked this movie simply because it was stsrting the soonest. We were blown away alonh with the rest of the audience.

Always preferred Joe Dante's "The Howling" to "American Werewolf" simply because the best things about American Werewolf are everything except the actual werewolf, finally when it appears it's kind of anticlimactic. "The Howling" however has a slow burn to a pressure cooker climax with a brilliant ending.
