My great, great, great Uncle I was born in 1824 and then when the war broke out he enlisted in the 23rd Michigan G company and he served from September 13th, 1862 to June 28th, 1865 and he survived that bloody war and he got to have a family after the war and in 1900 on May 14th my great, great, great uncle died at the age of 76 and I thank him for making sure that I would have a future God bless every everyone that served in the American Civil War and may their souls be at peace

Actually the leading historians did another survey of the battle reports and bumped up the number. They now estimate the number to be no shorter then 750,000. Of course that's not including men who died years after the war do to injuries or the psychiatric victims. All war is cruel but the American Civil War one of the cruelest.

600,000 soldiers died in the American civil war, more then all other wars put together, That the American have been in. God bless Abraham Lincoln, for his strong will to see the war through.
