he first thing you need to do before even considering this storm shelter is to determine whether you have a Post Tensioned Slab. If your slab is Post Tensioned (high tensioned cables running through the concrete), you will have no way to anchor the shelter. NEVER DRILL INTO A POST TENSIONED SLAB. If you should drill into a cable, even nick a cable, you risk the destruction of the concrete slab as well as injury or death. There may be services available that can locate and mark the cable locations using x-ray or a metal detector so you can avoid them, but you have to consider the risk. Aside your own safety, you can destroy your house.

There are no "EF 5 RATED" shelters. No national organizations gives ratings...

There is NO WAY in heck I'd trust a tin can bolted to a concrete slab with my life. Especially when there have been tornadoes that have lifted whole concrete slabs and moved them several feet. I'll take a concrete and/or steel box in the ground, thank you.

What about weight of an object like roof trusses or car impacts?

Make sure you get a modified 70's old-school carjacks to push the door open in case something gets lodged against the door.

Has that shelter been tested by 3rd parties to withstand over 250mph winds and being hit by flying 2x4's. 3/8 anchor bolts are a bit small for a shelter you want to withstand EF5 tornado in. I would advise people to shop around and look at metal thickness and size of anchor bolts being used.

From the sound of the echo in there, part of the prep supplies should include ear protection.

The flat and corner-free profile makes it much less susceptible to wind and any airborne projectiles are much more likely to just glance off.

I’ve been looking for something like this to install in our master bedroom closet. It’s a large walk in and the most interior room in our home. But re-installing the clothes rods and shelving looks like it would be a problem as well as installing the ceiling light fixture.

I'd like to know who installed their Twister pod model. I know she said she went and looked at it at Home Depot, but did they install it or did she have someone else come install it? I don't mind buying it from Home Depot, but not sure I trust them to install it properly.

Better than none at all, but I'd rather have something below grade like mine. There's just something about these that says "bs" to me. Could you imagine being in one of those when there's a truck flung at it.

These are unaffordable for most people , especially people who live in manufactured homes duh!

Even though I have a different shelter with a different company and mine is in the garage which this which im sure would also go in the garage.
