In Autozone they sell a tool for that, or use a C-Clamp. And I’m not sure if you did but removing the cap off the master cylinder helps too.
C clamp...everytime...quick and easy...also cheap
How about doing it the smart and easy way with the old pad and a C-clamp

Juke bar or any long stick you think it works to push the lever
I usually hide an aluminum yard stick in my inner fender, and fish the unlock button. But dammit amigo I love this video tho 🙃
