Hi Guys. I've started this channel to run alongside my website/blog. I love movies, and nothing fires me up more than watching them and talking about them. Tha's why i began building the website, to give me the chance to interact with likeminded people, and to have the chance to talk about my favourite movies. I love all films but my real passion lies with the older ones. Anything from the 80s backwards. So if you like to talk about films such as Barbarella, The Stud, Witchfinder General, to mention but a few, then this is the place for you. I'll also get the chance to show you all some of the movies and books i've collected over the years, and to share some memories of my cinema going years which began in the early 1970s. I'm very new to all this so i'd appreciate any advice you have to offer regarding making the channel better and the videos a little more polished. Also please feel free to subscribe to the channel and comment, on absolutely anything movie related.....

Hi Guys. Thank you so much for all these amazing comments and questions which will give me a superb head start on my triumphant return, which will be hopefully be very soon. It's you guys and and the rest of my subscribers and viewers that keep this thing going. Have a brilliant week Zoners and once again thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Keep them coming along with the questions 😀
Great video as always Tone 😀🍿🎸🎶 I never watched the Sitcom ‘Mind Your Language’; will take a look at that; really liked the first few seasons of ‘Love Thy Neighbour’; will have to take a look at the film at some point 😀👍 I booked about 8 films to see at Tyneside Cinema in December; some of which I not seen which are ‘The Apartment’; ‘Remember The Night’; ‘The Bishop’s Wife’; ‘The Holdovers’ 😀🎄☃️🍿🎸🎶 Have you seen any of these bud and if so; what’s your thoughts? 😊 I really liked ‘UFO’; a lot of episode felt a bit samey; but still enjoyable; I need to try check out more episodes of ‘Joe 90’ & ‘Supercar’ & Stingray’ in the New Year; what’s your thoughts? 😀 ‘Falling Down’ is one of my favourite films ever Tone; great Character study film. Also I just ordered two more BFI titles in the sale ‘Jubilee’ & ‘Bluebeard’s Castle’ aswell 😊👍 Currently rewatching DW: ‘The Seeds Of Doom’; fantastic episode with Tom Baker; could of been influenced by ‘The Thing From Another World’; great episode to watch at Winter 😀 I also love watching the BBC miniseries of Lion; Witch & Wardrobe from 1988 around Winter time; your thoughts on this and also the BBC adaptations of the other Narnia stories? 😊 Keep up the awesome work as ever Tone and bring on next Saturday’s blog 🤩
I laughed out loud when you said Sam's comment next I'd better take a break 🤣 Sam goes on but it's very endearing. I hope he never changes. When you have watched The Entertainer from the Woodfall set let me know as I made a filming location video a few weeks ago. I will send it to you when you have seen it.
You not wrong Roy mate; I do waffle on 😂🤣 Thanks for the kind words bud 😊
Tony no worries at all re the meet. To be honest I know what you mean. It's something I've struggled with for years and it will be a big challenge for myself. It's easier when there's just a camera looking at you. You have there the best Buster. What a great looking book that is. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. So jealous of that figure 😅

I know the feeling but it does get easier I mean when I met my friend James I was nervous but it made me feel confident
Morning Tony. I'm watching at work. My job isn't exactly dynamic so you're doing me a right favour 🙂
Some other Mel Brooks worth considering To be or not to be with his wife Anne Bancroft, History of the World Part 1, The Twelve Chairs my favourite The Producers and Life Stinks. Punch Drunk Love gets a 4k release next Feb only in UK on Criterion.
I haven't seen Ghost Watch yet... But I do have it on my list to watch. Jimi Hendrix is amazing, I started listening to him with his greatest hits album, The Ultimate Experience, and was blown away. It was very much a different feel and style of music for me, but I still have a lot of his songs in my playlist. This would have been in the early 90s so its stuck around with me for a while! Now, Black Christmas was mentioned a couple of times, but am I the only one who found it rather dull and boring? I actually prefer the 2006 remake (I know, bring on the hate! Hahahaha) Christmas Evil is a trip! Violent Night is a fun movie, its not as bad or as violent as you may think. The reference I got was "Juptiers Balls" which was a quote from ***********. Great film! (Yep, edited…) Speaking of 90s.... Whats your favourite 90s sci fi, horror and comedy? Having just gone through a bunch of 90s films, there are some absolute great ones, but interested to hear yours. Can definelty recommend From, a couple of friends recommended it. 10 episodes per season, 1 season a week and im now halfway through season 3. Is it worth it. Yes, but my concern is that we wont get answers, and be left with more questions. V For Vendetta is awesome! The Wachowskis at their best! Falling Down is great and funny story, I was just looking at that exact blu ray today (but wrong region code). Contact is.. Contact. Its good, but not great. Definitely a one and done for me. Anyway, Ive rambled on far too long. Great video and have an awesome week ahead!
Talking of colourisation in black and white movies a Christmas carol Alistair sim 😮 terrible stay with the black and white version 👌🏻 and it's a wonderful life in colour 😮 terrible stay with the black and white version, both classic black and white movies 🎥👍🏻
Do you like Frank Sinatra and what are your favourite films with Frank Sinatra in
Bloody hell mate 62 looking good mate 👍🏻 your right ghost watch is miles better than late night with the devil, I watched hello dolly film with Barbra streisand it's such a good feeling movie so upbeat musical, do you like musicals? Name a few of your favourites mate ?, I love a good musical 😘 🎼👌🏻 I bloody hate sound of music 🎶 though so annoying and overrated imo
He fills that mug from the fountain of youth.
No worries about our meet up in the new year mate no pressure at all 👍🏻
Awesome video as usual I believe it is old gold media who distribute the old network titles and also love a bit of retro nostalgia especially the retro annuals and it is Dirk Benedict
Tony the new Blair witch second sight has a sound error on the theatrical cut same sound going to both channels so you may want to check out their recent bulletin to get a replacement disc.
Thanks for the heads up Steve. Was tipped off about this earlier today so I've emailed Second Sight. Hopefully I'll get a replacement. Thanks again for letting me know 😊
Great video as always Tony 😀🍿🎸🎶 I have seen the first few seasons of ‘Love Thy Neighbour’; not seen the film from Network; what’s your thoughts? I seen that they are going to be doing a colourised reconstructed version of DW: The War Games; what’s your thoughts on this Tone? As it’s DW Day or by the time this blog is out; it was DW Day last Saturday; I’m going to be making an annual viewing of ‘The Five Doctors’; which is the ultimate Doctor cross over story and superb 20th anniversary episode of the show Tone 🙌 Tony; I have ordered that Woodfall BFI Blu-Ray boxset on your wonderful recommendation; it was in the Black Friday sale for a superb price; have you got a fav film from that boxset? 😊 ‘Reign Over Me’ is excellent; really powerful drama and superb performance from Adam Sandler; I also love the other Drama film he is called ‘Punch Drunk Love’ which is like many Paul Thomas Anderson movies; another brilliant film of his 😊 I should have another VHS haul video out soon; I bought the Warner Bros Big Box editions of ‘Tightrope’ & ‘Pale Rider’ lately; I also got ‘Play Misty For Me’ which I heard excellent things; I seen ‘Pale Rider’ and the more I think about it; it was really great; good one to watch at the Winter season; but not seen ‘Tightrope’ & ‘Play Misty For Me’; definitely wanting to check out more of Clint Eastwood’s work 🤠🍿🎸 I watched the original ‘Black Christmas’ for the first time last year and thought it was very good Tone; have you seen the other Xmas Slasher film ‘Silent Night; Deadly Night’? I thought that was very solid aswell; also I need to take a look at ‘Violent Night’ & ‘Christmas Evil’ 🎅☃️🎄❄️🍿🎸🎶 Keep up the awesome work as ever Tony mate and hope you having a grand weekend 🙌
I agree Christmas television is boring now i mean i usually watch vlu rays or plY video games
Just got the new BFI 4K of Watership Down looks superb. Great book with it. Steve Mac on my other YT account.
Morning sir Tony I'm working today so will catch up with most of the video over the weekend 👍 David asking you about youtubers reminded me that a few of us are tentatively planning a bit of a meet in possibility Birmingham (I told you tentatively lol) in the new year. There will be myself,Stuart, Sam and hopefully a couple more. You'd be more than welcome to join us and Stuart might be able to get your Sam Smith calender cheaper in the new year.
I will definitely get him the sam Smith calender lol 😅
If meet ups are great I know when I met James Millership we had great chemistry and we got along well
Yes wizard of oz is just magical have you seen the new trailer and the new Wicked film 😮 holy shittttttttt it looks terrible? Thoughts?

Talking of favourite animated films a film i have loved for years is The aristocats 👌🏻 watership down is fantastic aswell
I watched the newly released 4 k Blu-ray of The terminator from 1984 it looks fantastic and tbh mate" it maybe my favourite rewatch film this year i forgot how much i liked it 👌🏻 what a film !! o yeah Il be back 😎
Iv filmed my top ten favourite gangster movies video, name a few of yours? Also i do like Barbara Streisand 👌🏻 so talented singer actress and her comedy timing is fantastic 😍 name a few of her films you like? If you like her that is
I really enjoyed Late Night With The Devil. Felt they really had a great vibe and feel. Wasn't scary, but certainly had a creep factor to it. So... Kickstarter to fund a xmas carols at your door, with Sam Smith and the Gallagher brothers? If we all chip in a few dollars, I am sure they will do it... whether you want them to or not lol! Imprint is a part of Via Vision (at least over here it is) The Capricorn One looks the same, so hopefully it is. I still need to watch The Banana Splits Movie! I was gifted it by a fellow UA-camr and friend, so I really should watch it. I am in the process of adding all my movies that I own on physical media into an app that organises them all... This will take a while but it’s called Shelf. Something short and sharp for a name... The Retro Zone? Tones Retro Rants? Tones Retro Media? Question time... Hammer Horror. Which is the best of all time? Mal Brooks films. Which one is the funniest? (And why is it Blazing Saddles?) Hope the Saturday work schedule is treating you well!
still one of the greatest movies ever made
Ay up Lee. It truly is a brilliant movie. Haven't seen it for a while so definetely due for a revisit. It'll make me laugh as it always does. Have to say my videos have come a long way since this early venture. Also the two people who commented on this one are the two who originally persuaded me to start the channel all those years ago 😊
Hey Tony; great video as always 😀🍿🎸🎶 No rush & no worries regarding checking out my recent content mate; I had so much UA-cam to catch up on aswell of late 😊👍 I am thinking about in the New Year of doing a 007 marathon; I just rewatched ‘Skyfall’ lately and still really good; my favourite film in the Daniel Craig run 😀👍 Also going to take some doing is this; but I am thinking about setting myself up a challenge of revisiting all the Disney Animated Classics in it’s chronological order in the New Year aswell; what are some of your fav Disney Classics mate; either Animated or Live Action? 😀🍿🎸🎶 Tony I am really looking forward to the Christmas season aswell; love to rewatch the likes of the Thunderbirds Xmas special; ‘On The Buses’; ‘Father Ted’; The Office U.S; ‘Peep Show’ etc. What are some of your fav Xmas specials of a TV series or Sitcom? 😀 By the time this blog comes out I would have potentially done an unboxing video on the 4K BFI set of Seven Samurai and checked out the 4K; have you seen Seven Samurai and also ‘The Magnificent Seven’ which it’s based on? 🤠 I definitely need to take a look at ‘High Noon’ which Roy kindly send me; it looks and sounds fantastic 🤠 Keep up the awesome work as ever Tone and hope you have a great weekend my friend 🙌
Hello Tony and good morning to everyone in the gang. At christsmas I tend to watch films that were on when I was a kid during the festive period such as The Wizard of Oz or Dambusters and maybe a Bond chucked in. A Fools and Horses christsmas special or similar also. What happened to christsmas tv scheduling? Absolutely pants now. I will get together my Keaton stuff and put a photo or photos on the Facebook page 👍
Morning Roy. Thanks so much for the comments. You've definetely given me a couple of things there to chat about on tomorrows recording. I'd love to see what Keaton stuff you have mate so i really look forward to seeing your collection. Great to hear from you Roy and look forward to your next video 😀
Btw I know what to get you for Xmas 😮😅 🎁 a Sam Smith 2025 calender 😊
There's only one answer to that Roy and you'll get it next weekend 🤣🤣🤣
@@theretromoviezone5121 Stuart 😂 lol
Talking of bond yeah it's Roger Moore for me nobody does it better 🎼😀, I have never been a big Daniel Craig bond fan , Dalton was underrated as bond and he was a tough bond
Give me your thoughts on the stuff I bought in the criterion sale , tottsie, midnight cowboy, breakfast club, being there with Peter sellers
I will do that for sure next weekend mate 😀
@@theretromoviezone5121 👌🏻
Great video tony 👍🏻 I recently watched Late night with the devil a new horror from this year and got rave reviews, , 1st off my wife said turn it off after 25 minutes!!! Boring ! 😅, me I was sooo disappointed I found it corny comical and no scares no suspense 😮 I was so looking forward to it being set in the 70 s , have you seen it mate ?
I have seen it and i'll give you my thoughts next weekend 😀
@@theretromoviezone5121 ok mate 👌🏻
Wowsers.. Cracking video Tony! I get what you mean. I do try and find something good in all movies as they are something that someone has put time and effort into... The level of effort is debatable. As is the quality. Hahaha... I could list off the absolute worst films and they all involve sharks...Or mutated Easter bunnies. Very tempted to get the Blair Witch box set from Via Vision (along with Capricorn One) Malcolm McDowell... I have heard that Time After Time is a great Malcolm McDowell film. I haven't seen it in a very long time and really dont remember a lot about it, but I really liked Malcolm McDowell in Star Trek Generations, Halloween, of course A Clockwork Orange plus many many more... Never been a huge fan of the Rocky films. I dont hate them, I like them for what they are, but would go for Rambo over Rocky. Dont get me started on The Crow remake... There are reasons to remake movies, but this? This was handled so poorly. And I wanted to like it so much, as I enjoy 3 of the 4 OG The Crow films. Hahaha "Jupiter's balls" thats a deep cut reference to Night Of The Living Dead 1990! Oh yes! Little Nicky! How could I forget that one! Tonight on Tone's Movie, TV & Music Zone: Question time with The Gallagher's and Sam Smith... First question, WTF is wrong with you? Second Question, How fkn stupid are you all really? Third question, Do you honestly think you are all that? Final question... Can you all sod off? Like, really.. Sod off Sam and Co. Sod TF off. (pardon my harsh language, but I loathe the Gallagher brothers and Sam Smith...) Take care!
As usual, plenty for me to go at there mate. Really appreciate that. I'll be doing an unboxing of The Blair Witch Project boxset on next weekends video, as i just had it through. Hope lifes treating you well down under mate and as always it's brilliant to hear from you 😀
Thank you so much for all the comments guys. You've given me plenty to talk about on next weeks video as you always do. My sincerest thanks to you all for your continued support. I really couldn't do this without you. You Zoners are the best 😀
@@theretromoviezone5121 you’re one of the best Tony; keep up the fantastic work as always 🤩🍿🙌🎸🎶
Superb video as ever Tony mate 🤩🍿🙌🎸🎶 I watched the new film ‘Heretic’ and it was very good; pretty different to what I seen from a new release prior this year; Hugh Grant was superb in it 🙌 Talking of Adam Sandler; I would recommend ‘Uncut Gems’ brilliant Tone; also an underrated Drama film ‘Reign Over Me’ which is excellent Tone 😊👍 I definitely need to check out more Anthony Hopkins films Tone; I definitely be taking a look at ‘Magic’ after your high praise mate 😀👍 I only seen ‘The Elephant Man’ the once; but it is absolutely fantastic; brilliant acting from Hopkins & John Hurt 😊 ‘Robot Dreams’ is excellent Tony; I really enjoyed it; a bittersweet Animation film; very beautiful film indeed; awesome soundtrack and the animation style is gorgeous 😍 What’s your favourite Animation films Tone? 😀 Tone did you know that there’s a Criterion 4K edition of the original 1932 version of ‘Scarface’? The last time I saw the DePalma remake of ‘Scarface’ I was in Greece in 2017; well overdue a rewatch 👍 That be really cool to see you do a VHS collection selection or video Tone; what were some of the first VHS’ you remember owning? 😀🍿📺📼 I just bought a few VHS tapes recently; couple of which are ‘Witness’ & ‘Magnolia’ which is a superb sprawling piece; but not seen ‘Witness’; but heard great things about it 😀 Thanks for the recommendations there Tone; keep up the amazing work as always and hope you had a top weekend 🙌
Brilliant to hear from you mate. How's your hiatus going? I recorded next weeks video early this morning but i'll be reading this out on next weekends recording and answering all of your questions and addressing the points you raised. I'll defo be showing off my VHS collection at some point, maybe a regular new feature, VHS Of The Week. Sound alright? I'll also be catching up on your content this week as you've made some video's i'm really keen to see. Have a great week mate and look forward to catching up with you very soon 😀
@ hey Tony; I’m doing well; thank you for asking buddy 😀🙏🍿🎸🎶 My month’s Social Media break is going well buddy; I look forward to returning to the group in December 😊🙏☃️🎄 That sounds grand there Tony mate; VHS of the week sounds like an awesome new section into your future blogs 😀🍿📼👌 Have a great week Tone and hope all is well; look forward to next Saturday’s blog 🙌
Thanks for the birthday well wishes! The ghost tour went well! Unfortunately, they dont allow video but I did get some pics (also took some last year) that are all on my Instagram. This time however, we came across a massive eastern brown snake (yes a deadly one, but it left us alone) and then... in the haunted church... A bat landed on my arm! The tour guide was shocked as that had never happened, and also that I was so calm...Was a lot of fun! 31 movies in 31 days. It was a challenge, but fun too! I think you can see where it beings to wear me down hahaha Cooties was Elijah Wood and its a fun one! I dont know how old I was, but I was young when I watched Children Of The Corn and Creepshow. I may have been 9 or 10... I turned out... mostly fine. hahaha! Sam Smith? Who the F is that? Oh, that overblown wanker? Who cares what he has to say? I know we just had your least favourite, but what's the 5 worst movies that you have ever watched? I mean, bad movies, crap acting, dodgy special effects, you know the ones hahaha! And what movies do you feel are completely overrated? Big Daddy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer.. All fun Adam Sandler movies. Chillerama...Hahaha... Good luck! Great vid, have a great week!
Morning Tony. I will be watches in snatches when I can 👍 Oddly I have a large Buster Keaton collection and love him but I've never seen any Chaplin.
I have Bronco Bullfrog, it’s a BFI flip side bluray, The actors were found at Joan Littlewoods acting course, have actually bought some titles directly from Criterion in their flash sale, first time I used a forwarding company in the US all went well and I have Pandora’s Box and Demon Pond and their release of The Long good Friday I wanted this as there some different features from the Arrow release. I have the original Quadrophenia album in 5.1 surround sounds brilliant.
G'day Tony! Catching up on this and the new one which just dropped! 5 movies I enjoy watching: Dawn Of The Dead 2004 and 1978, Return Of The Living Dead, Night Of The Comet, The Crow. Can chuck these on at any time and enjoy them. Most of the movies I have seen in the cinema this year, have been classic horror movies, Nightmare On Elm St, Demons, Hellraiser (coming up) but normally, id rather stay home and watch a movie at home. Great vid, cant wait for the latest one... which I will watch now!
What Christmas movies are you looking forward to watching this year ?
I'm looking forward to watching Red One this year. I can't believe it's out at the cinema already. I refuse to watch it this early. If it's still in the cinema this time next month then I will see it. otherwise It will be a watch at home movie.
@dave_lowe yeah I seen the trailer when I seen Nightmare on elm Street 🎅🏻🎄👈🏻👌🏻
Great video mate 👍🏻 tea bags behind the tv 😅lol
Hi Tony thanks for the shout out. Much appreciated 😊 High Noon is fantastic I'm sure you'd enjoy it. It plays out in real time and keeps getting more and more tense. I'm jealous of your Straw Dogs bluray. Would love to upgrade my dvd. Quite heavily out of print I believe.
eco friendly hahahaha
Did I really say that 😂😂😂
24 carat bell end
I'm hoping you mean Sam Smith and not me 😂😂
Great video as always Tony 😀🍿🎸🎶 ‘Quadrophenia’ is absolutely fantastic mate; I love to see a 4K edition of that one day; seen it countless times and it really defies great British cinema; love the album from The Who aswell 🤩 ‘Day Of The Dead’ is fantastic mate; definitely my favourite one in ‘The Dead’ trilogy from Romero; would highly recommend that one Tone; had such a great time with the trilogy last month 🧟♂️🍿 I just bought four titles in the Criterion 40% sale; they are ‘The Breakfast Club’; ‘Risky Business’ on 4K; ‘All That Money Can Buy’ & ‘Dogfight’; plus pre ordered the 4K Criterion of ‘Godzilla’ (1954); what’s your thoughts on these bud? 😊 I just done my 10 Movies I Love To Watch At Autumn video Tone; is there any films you love to watch at the Autumnal time of year? 😀🍿🍂 Talking of Star Trek; whilst I don’t think ‘The Final Frontier’ is a particularly good film; it’s a movie I do have a soft spot for and it has a certain charm to it; Scotty is so comical in that film; his scenes make me chuckle 😂👌 Need to get back onto my Star Trek film binge; I got up to ‘Insurrection’; had such a great time with this film series indeed 😀👍 Hope you having a great weekend Tone; keep up the awesome work as ever and thanks as ever for the shoutout and I totally agree Roy is a fantastic guy in the film community 🤩 Take care Tony and look forward to next Saturday’s blog as always 🙌
RIP Terri garr from the masterpiece Close encounters from the third kind
Just watched for the first time from 77 Capricorn one James brolin isn't 70 s sci fi fantastic 🤩 loved it 👍🏻 you seen Capricorn one?
I have a story I went with my friend Mike to see The Doors at the Odeon Marble Arch it was a real trip because most of the guys in our row were smoking pot and we both inhaled it and ended up high, it made the film so much better. we only realised what had happened later. I loved City on the edge of forever, I got the TOS bluray set in a sale. Leonard Nimoy directed Star Trek III The Search for Spock and IV - the Voyage Home. and Jonathan Frakes directed Star Trek- First Contact and Star Trek - Insurrection. Recently watched Teri Garr in Tootsie. - great comedic actress. You think Gettysburg was long try Abel Gance's Napoleon its 5 ½ hours long and on BFI.
Quadrophinia is incredible 😍 one of my most watched films it's influence on me was incredible in 80 s I have 3 old restored vespa scooters 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nightmare on elm Street 40 th anniversary in the cinema was fantastic the sound was incredible and everyone was well behaved no phones talking etc 😔👍🏻🎥
Great video as always Tone 😀🍿🎸🎶 So I was at the Halloween Tyneside Cinema All Nighter and it was so much fun; even tho I was absolutely shattered afterwards 😱😂 Had a Power Nap after that; much needed 😂👍 Hoping to do a video on my experience with the Tyneside All Nighter and share my thoughts on each film I saw in that Quadruple bill 😀🎃👻🧛♂️🧟♂️🍿🎸🎶 I wouldn’t mind taking a look at that Woodfall set at some point Tone; some of those British films I have heard of; but haven’t seen. I not seen ‘The Entertainer’; but I know Roy is pretty fond of that film 😊👍 I watched ‘Silence Of The Lambs’ for the first time earlier in the week and thought it was excellent Tony mate; that was some of the best acting I have ever seen; you can tell Anthony Hopkins & Jodie Foster were born to play them lead roles; sublime performances right there 🤩🏆🙌🍿🎸🎶 The key films I want to include in the remainder of my Horror marathon is JC’s ‘The Fog’; ‘Trick ‘R’ Treat’; seeing the first Elm Street at Tyneside on Tuesday; the original Evil Dead before I go to see ED 2 on Thursday 31st; a double bill of ‘Nosferatu’ (1922) and ‘Vampyr’; both on the Eureka label and as always like every 31st October; my favourite ever Horror film ‘The Shining’ ❤️ Look forward to the Xmas related vids Tone 😀⛄️🎄🎅 🎁 Cracking Quadruple bill for what you choose as your Halloween All Nighter there Tony; great line up of films; love ‘The Omen’ & ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ is excellent 😀 Keep up the fantastic work as ever Tony mate and hope you had a great weekend and great week ahead; thanks so much for the kind words bud 😀🙏🍿🎸🎶
